Originally built in 1725, this Grade II listed Georgian townhouse offers 7 en suite bedrooms in the centre of the ancient market town of Llandovery, the gateway to the Brecon Beacons. Penygawse has now been carefully restored to its original splendour. Today, it offers the kind of traditional welcome that you might expect in such a beautiful, historic town. As you would expect in a Georgian townhouse, the rooms are large and airy. Each room has been tastefully decorated in keeping with the history of the property. All of the en suite rooms are equipped with modern comforts and facilities which have been combined with the existing period features. Each room has a TV, tea/coffee making facilities, bottled water and complimentary chocolates and biscuits. Conveniently located on the A40, in the centre of the town, Penygawse is within walking distance of many restaurants and bars. Free on-site parking is available for guests’ use. A large and varied breakfast is included in the price and is served in the Victorian tearooms. Hotel Rooms: 7 The most recent booking for this hotel was made on 24 May at 14:23 from Spain.

We had an excellent 1 night stay. We were made to feel very welcome right from the start. There was plenty of information in the room, which was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. Breakfast was fantastic and we will definitely be returning in the future :-) In all honesty, there is nothing that we didn't like!!

Everything!!! As the previous reviews stated, everyone was very welcoming and accommodating in every way. The coffee choices were lovely and Allen was very passionate about the quality. We ordered a packed lunch to take out for a long walk and the sandwiches were scrummy. The tearooms were buzzing and the breakfast was lovely. Lynne was so kind, and as well as clearly being a busy mum had time for everyone. They were both great hosts and were great with all ages. Wifi worked well - especially with the rush for Beyonce tickets. Good luck in your new adventures !!!!

Peygawse is run by a friendly and helpful couple. It is clean, quiet and centrally located in a beautiful and historic town on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. The breakfasts are excellent and the coffee is the best we have ever had anywhere in the uk. We can also recommend the Castle Inn just a 4 minute walk away for dinner. A most enjoyable experience. There was nothing not to like.

Owner very friendly, good room, parking, good breakfast (flexible choices), good coffee (a first in uk) Wifi struggled to reach desk in my room (had to use toilet as office, but signal was fine for second computer and smartphone); walls are thick (re. Noise) but windows aren't (if you're next to road)

It was our 3rd visit to the Penygawse (15th Sept 12) and it was fab - as usual!! Alan & Lyn are a lovely, hardworking couple. We had the family room (for the 3rd time) which is gorgeous. Really spacious with high ceilings and a slight regal feel to it - cant fault that room at all. The roll top bath is a majoe plus too! The food is amazing, the cooked breakfast is the best we've ever had! You WILL NOT be disappointed - just book it!! Nothing to dislike - only very picky people who have nothing better to do with their time would say anything negative about the Penygawse!

The room was lovely -clean and well equipped with linen, coffee and tea etc Breakfast in the morning was also lovely and served by the owners who could not do anything more to please and accommodate their guests. The noise from the trucks on the road in front of the building which is where our room was. We choose Llandovery as we thought it was a small country town in Wales off the main road. Unfortunately the map showed us it was.

We felt very comfortable during our stay at Pennygawse, Alan and Lynne (and their son) gave us a very warm welcome, Despite being busy, they found time each day to check on us and were really helpful in providing us with directions and advice on our local visits. The breakfast was superb, with a great choice of options and amazing coffee! I thought the offer of free hot drinks in the tearooms for guests was a lovely gesture, although unfortunately we didn't find opportunity to make the most of it during our (too) short stay! We would definately stay again if we visit Llandovery in the future:-)
