Has to be the beach and other surrounding beaches.
Has to be the beach and other surrounding beaches. We stayed in a heat wave which was fantastic. I know Irvine as I grew up there and was back visiting family. Some lovely restaurants and bars. Lots of different dog walking areas and a lot of dog friendly beaches. Visited Troon, Largs (Viking festival was on) Ayr (Ayr Show was on) and various other locations of interest.

Lovely historic town, home of the Scottish Maritime Museum.
Lovely historic town, home of the Scottish Maritime Museum. We stayed at Harbourside which was very quiet. Very friendly place, we ate at the Ship Inn, they were fantastic hosts, beautiful food and dog friendly. They even gave us some milk for our morning coffee because we couldn’t find a shop open and it was getting late. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to explore the area much, we had to move on

Definitely NO BEACH FRONT at the Marina View Guest House -...
Definitely NO BEACH FRONT at the Marina View Guest House - only a broken down old 'harbour'.
This establishment is NOT a Guest House! Reviewers are PRAISING it because it has a fridge and a microwave in the room. WONDERFUL, except that NO Knives, Forks, Spoons or Plates of any sort are provided, and no mention is made of this on the website - Booking.com's fault.
How are people to eat food heated in the microwave? - Use their fingers and the microwave plate itself?
There must be many better places in Irvine, an old town for the most part, but with a number of attractions like the 'Stone Dragon'.
Braidmead House is right in the centre of Irvine, easy access to all routes to enable exploration further in the area, not far from the ferry to Arran and an easy drive from Glasgow Airport. There is ample parking. The choice of breakfast is very good and the food itself was excellent. The room is a good size and the ensuite (shower) clean and in good order. There is a very comfortable large client lounge with a TV and a well stocked honesty bar. The owner - Diane was kind, helpful and very approachable.
We stayed 3 nights. The location was convenient, the staff very friendly. The hotel has seen better days though, Motel style, so did the room. Nice size but a bit dark, small windows actually to the garden side. The location is popular for weddings and has nice areas including ponds with illuminated water fountains at night. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and we could get it even early when we left for a full day trip to Arran island…
We have stayed here in this accommodation before as it is just what we want. Convenient when meeting up with friends and family the pubs are excellent too which is very handy. The Chinese takeaway, Wong Chiu, Ayr Road, Irvine is very good too.
The shopping centre is clean and tidy. The beach is handy and the people are extremely friendly in the area
Great wee guest house on the Harbourside in Irvine. Very clean, en-suite facilities. Comfortable bed. Very handy to have microwave and fridge there. Nice restaurants such as Niche, and Duncan's Brasserie next door. Walking distance to the beach, town and train station and easy parking out front.
Would definitely book again when back in the area.
Attention to detail and high standard of room service. Staff very loyal, conscientious and knowledgeable about the history of the surrounding area. We were impressed with future developments of the area. Easy parking very close by and walking distance to undercover shops. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to stay again.
Clean and comfortable room. Porridge pot appreciated for breakfast. Plenty of places to find evening meal, though as a hotel I had not appreciated food would not be available on site.
Location was great for my purposes and plenty of parking available.
Very comfy bed and quiet location.
Slight hitch with the room(nothing to do with us) but this was soon dealt with by the staff and we were given another room which was actually closer to our family member. Good buffet breakfast. Overall a very pleasant hotel and I would use again if going to Irvine.
Loved everything about the Harbourside hotel have been a few times before and will continue to go again ,Cannot fault it in any way excellent value for money ,Did not have to be out of pocket for transport as everything we needed and more was nearby.
Harbourside hotel is right next to train station, very close to shopping centre and restaurants and cafe, 10 minute walk to sandy beach, accommodation excellent value for money and have already booked to stay again in the near future.
Lovely apartment in the centre of Irvine, everything we needed was close by. Ideal base for exploring the area, the beautiful beach, the Isle of Arran and the train station (for day trips to Glasgow) was just a short walk away.
it was very good value similar hotels charge twice as much buffet breakfast was very good and the evening meal was excellent plenty parking available no complaints about anything as arnie would say i will be back.
Very friendly staff, dog friendly hotel <3, very clean, refurbished bedroom. We booked the hotel on the same day and the price was very competitive. Very happy and positively surprised with overall experience
The interior design was very modern, and the bathroom was fantastic - usually water pressure in small hotels are not up to the standard. Bonus point for providing chocolate biscuit too!
The place and location of the hotel with nice natural view. If you come to Glasgow, this place is good to stay as Irvine is well connected to Glasgow by train.
