Lovely setting in a very pretty village. Warm welcome from the owner. Comfortable bed in a gorgeous room. Shower wasn't very powerful at all. Noise from extractor fans in other people's bathrooms woke me up. A few cobwebs in the corner of the bathroom.

Very welcoming old Inn in a picturesque village. Standard of accomdation and food excellent. A most characterful inn with local Oxfordshire ales, no jukes boxes and no gambling machines! Just conversation and time to unwind, read, play scrabble or plan your outing on the Ridgeway. The hosts are most helpful and attentive. Highly recommended!! Could not fault it.

The village in which it is located ... and the coffee. I thought that it was very overpriced for the room and quality of accomodation and dinner that was offered. The food had been described as exceptional and was in fact very ordinary - just normal rather bland pub grub with nothing innovative or even tasty. Belly pork was tough with leathery "crackling" on a heap of tasteless mash, duck breast was in fact tasty and well cooked but on a bland noodle base straight from the packet.accompanying vegetables were simply boiled in water and put in a dish. The pub bar and restaurant were virtually empty and I can understand why... Even the beer was not very good. The room was frankly in the £50 - 60 bracket. The open plan bathroom did not afford any privacy for certain functions that are best not shared, even with a lifetime partner, and the edges of the bath side panel were dirty and broken. The old fashioned tv was perched at an angle on top of an unneccessary fridge at the foot of the bed, it could only be seen from one side of the bed. The bed was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was adequate and the coffee was good - a pity that a second cup was not offered. I would recommend that the owners perhaps visit a few other country pubs offering rooms and see just what can be had for £105 a night - certainly a great deal more than is offered here. It is too expensive.

I thought that it was (below) middle of the road and totally unexciting. The board outside says 'exceptional accomodation'. Well, the very basic room looks onto the car park and over the garbage bins - which are noisy in the morning. Obviously staffed by 'factota' - staff in employ, with no personal interest. Dissappointing.

I liked the friendliness and the location. The room was interesting and unusual. Lots of hot water for the lovely big spa bath. Breakfast was excellent too. The room that we were in was fine but you had to know each other very well! The toilet and bathroom were all in the same room as the bedroom - which was fine for us, but a couple who wanted a bit more privacy and weren't happy to see each other on the loo would have been in trouble! We were staying not only on a Sunday night but also Jubilee celebrations night so there wasn't any food and sadly not a lot on offer, because of the celebrations, in Wallingford either. Others have commented that, the rooms being directly above the pub, there was a lot of noise. It didn't bother us but again, some might find it noisy at about 11 P.M.

Prachtige traditionele Engels pub. Ligt in een mooi dorp aan de Theems. Mooie wandel omgeving. Overnachting ook erg goed (mooie kamer). Eigenaren zeer vriendelijk. Dorp ligt dicht bij de railway. Je hoort veel treinen.

Cosy quiet country atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming proprietor & staff. Plenty of off street parking. Room was big enough & comfortable. Felt that the price was just a little too high. The room needed maintenance (paint work and bathroom tiling seeing to). Also a broken bed slat (hastily repaired) Bed still usable. A small gesture of reduction not proffered.

I cannot recommend the host enough, he went to great lengths to make sure everything to do with our stay was a comfortable as possible. A brilliant stay and a wonderful breakfast. The perfect base for a nearby wedding. My only criticism is that the room we chose was a slight disappointment compared to the description on the website. Slightly intimate toilet facilities!

It was a suitable location for our weekend with family and friends in a nearby village. We were attending a family wedding. The staff were very welcoming and service good Being able to come and go at any time, being given a door code, made it ideal. Food was of a high standard, especially the evening meal. It is unfortunate that the main Great Western Rail Line runs through an adjoining field behind the Perch and Pike, our room faced this, and 3 trains (2 high speed) pass every quarter hour. I expect if one lives in the village long enough you would get used to the noise. Little sleep was had by myself on our stay.
