Percy Arms Hotel  

Nicely decorated for Christmas.

Run down interior. Ran out of breakfast, dirty plates. Asked for taxi and were sent expensive mini bus for a short journey which were told we couldn't walk there.

It was close to my friends wedding! The rooms were clean. The service was friendly.

I specifically asked for a double room and got two beds pushed together! The water pipes were quite noisy early in the morning.

The attitude of the staff was disappointing. The room was disgusting - dirty and with paint peeling off the walls and ceiling. There was a horrible smell in some of the corridors as if the place had not been cleaned for some time. There ws insufficient parking and at way too expensive for the level of service and overall state of the hotel I would never stay there again.

Rural, bedroom tastefully furnished but decoration poor, water damage evident throughout.

Buffet Breakfast not replenished quickly, some items cold, Scrambled egg solid mass. Had to wait for items from kitchen to replace empty bairn marie, resulting in other plated items going cold. Little communication with Restaurant staff ie refills for tea & coffee had to be requested 3 staff for not very busy breakfast. Some lounges not available. Lack of heating in bedroom

Convenient stayover - food and room were both good

I found the staff a bit disinterested - didnt feel particularly valued as a customer

The room was very clean and comfortable, the bed was lovely! Breakfast was very nice but at £100 per night I thought it was a tad on the high side.

The price

A hotel which is over 200 years old. Welcoming staff, a nice room, and public areas which are quite exceptional. It is well used and well loved. If you like the character of old English hotels and good food in a cosy setting, the Percy Arms is for you. We would stay again anytime.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely meals with good service. Beautiful setting, spacious rooms although in need of decorating.Comfortable beds.

The Percy arms was in need of some TLC especially the bathrooms.

Nothing, Not worth the price, the rooms are dated and scruffy as is the outside of the hotel, not enough parking. Price you would expect for 4 star accommodation but the hotel is more akin to 2 star. waste of money.

Everything.Overpriced room was dated and dirty. Breakfast buffet was cold.

We'd stayed there once before, so knew the hotel. It was very comfortable and the evening meal was enjoyable in the bar/restaurant.

The room was freezing, overall the hotel appeared old and dirty. The bar was difficult to get served at due to ignorant locals who hogged the bar space.

Dirty, scruffy and dark,

Food expensive for what you get. Whole place is distinctly average wouldnt go again.

The food is great. Real home cooked fresh produce, with elegant dishes that were hugely satisfying and skilfully cooked. The waiting staff seemed to be working very hard, as the place was busy, and obviously popular.

Some carpets and paintwork in one of the upstairs corridors looked dreadful, not a good impression. Also, the bathroom door in room 31 was louvred wood - not sound or odour proof! That said, the food was that good that I am now a Percy Arms fan and am prepared to overlook all these things.

Poor atmosphere in the restaurant and bar. Poor quality food as well. Cleanliness and upkeep of room was poor, especially the shower. Mold throughout the room and bathroom. For the price paid, very disappointed.

Hotel could do with a refurbishment. The dining area for breakfast was in a huge restaurant which would be better if some of it was screened off.

I liked the Percy Arms as it was welcoming and friendly and homely. Nothing was too much trouble for staf and the food was excellent and big portions.

Helpfulness of the staff + Service were excellent. Food was Good quality + good value for money Excellent base for seeing Northumberland.

The atmosphere and character

Being probably the only couple staying at the hotel that weren't going to the Christmas party night, I think a better choice of room could have been given. We were in a room directly above the Elvis Tribute entertainment. We didn't complain as we were aware that a party night would be taking place whilst we were there, we just think a little more consideration could have been given to room allocation.
