Though I had only a small bag, I needed to ask for help to carry it up the stairs as there are no lifts. I had specifically requested a lake view room, what I got instead was a musty, fowl smelling room overlooking the dining area rooftop - less than impressed. It didn't help that the night lights outside shine light straight through my window.
I had the misfortune of being placed just above the bar area. Although I went to bed before midnight, the drunk neighbours in the rooms next door and across the corridor (all together in one group) kept me up all night with their loud screaming and shrill laughing. This continued from 9am onwards, till they finally left the hotel. So although the beds were comfy, I didn't get any sleep. I wished I had booked elsewhere
A welcoming entrance area, but greeted by a curt receptionist who seemed to tired to put on the 'receptionist charms' of being inviting. Friendly staff otherwise. There was a musty smell in the room, and the only other room available was overlooking the car park, something I simply don't like. So the night manager offered drinks on the house, a nice gesture. Breakfast was nice, but I was too tired to eat much having not slept the night. Leisure facilities staff were very helpful. All in all, a higher than average experience, but not bowled over. My expectations were in line with Marriotts I've stayed in worldwide. This was not on par.
