Said to be haunted by the ghost of Mary Queen of Scots, this Elizabethan hotel has historic features and a cozy restaurant. Charm and character mix with modern facilities.
Score from 233 reviews Excellent
Room size. And great room service
Very noisy outside of the hotel. Couldn't sleep. Problems checking out
The beds are really comfortable
I will pay 30 pounds more next time to stay at Mariott Hotel. Not my kind of hotel
Car park states CCTV protected, my car was hit in car park and was advised CCTV did not cover it.
pool and steam was good, steam nice and hot. Also the food was excellent, and the young waiter in the evening was very helpful.
little noise outside bedroom from all the air con units outside our room, and the pool was rather cloudy and dirty, which was a pity, as its only a small pool. Still it was nice for a quick dip!
The location Very quiet Room good size Nice and clean Very comfortable
The breakfast @ £14.95 each was very expensive Some of the staff not very friendly
The bed The ease and speed of booking in The buffet breakfast
The shower was of poor standard compared to other similar hotels. The food in the restaurant is over-priced The restaurant staff couldn't cope with regular guests when a large group entered the restaurant despite the large group serving themselves at a buffet. The receptionist didn't really deal with us properly upon check out for the same reason as above, we didn't get our points reward card as promised during check in nor did we even get given the code needed to exit the barrier in the car park because she was too engrossed in the large group of pensioners waiting to check out en masse after us.
Staff bedrooms big and very clean!
We liked everything about our stay. The room was good and a nice size. The bed was really comfortable. It was a few mins into town in a taxi which was great for us. Will def be booking again and would recommend.
There was nothing we didn't like.
The staff at reception was rude and unfriendly, they overcharged me at the end of stay and didnt apologize once they realised it was a mistake. I've stayed before and not had this experience, it has put me right off and I will not be staying there again.
Friendly staff, nice breakfast
Lack of supervision in pool, big child repeatedly jumping in in front of swimmers and man spitting in the water!
Good sized rooms Cleanliness Friendly & Helpful Staff Good food Relaxed bar & restaurant
Friendly, helpful staff Clean, comfortable bedroom Excellent hot chocolate!
Location of the hotel
clean and fresh; good food in bar; lots of breakfast food; comfortable bed.
bathroom fan didn't switch off; limited draught beer choice in bar.
excellent breakfast and the room was clean
room is small and the pictures on the website are misleading
Apart from snotty receptionist it was ok
Receptionist was awfull she unhelpful made me feel like second class citersan . She shouted across reception o your on the 80 pound rate . Sorry I run quite a big firm and would not not stay here again
We stayed there for our wedding anniversary. They decorated the bed with a heart shape in rose petals and also a card from the staff.
did not stop as we had an emergency told hotel and said could i cancel and was told that because i had pre paid no refund was allowed i will never stay in a holiday inn again and will think twice about using booking.com again
The fact that the leisure centre didn't open until 7.30am on weekends, when it opened at 6.30am during the week.
My time spent at the hotel was quite short as I was for out for most of my stay at an ice hockey tournament. However, although it was a Saturday night, it was very quiet and peaceful and I had a brilliant nights sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the room clean and well maintained. I didn't have time to take advantage of the leisure facilities so unfortunately can't comment on that aspect.
I would have liked an option to check out at midday on a Sunday.
Very clean and spacious. Lovely staff.
Restaurant prices, but there is a lovely golf club with pub grub just a 2 minute walk.
lovely breakfast, good choices for evening meals in the restaurant, helpful staff and the leisure centre was a bonus after a days work.
easy access to the road to Peterborough and surrounding area. easy to find on satnav.
didn't stay long enough to use the pool but it looked very inviting. the tea at breakfast was not very hot, but the breakfast itself was good.
Staff pleasant and helpful, room most comfortable and clean, food excellent, only problem we had was finding hotel after coming off A1.
There was nothing we didn't like.
