Nestled in the Chiltern Hills, just north of the River Thames as it winds through Buckinghamshire, The Stag and Huntsman is situated in the picturesque village of Hambleden.
Score from 143 reviews Fabulous
This wisteria-clad historical hotel is uniquely located by the banks of the River Thames, close to Heathrow and Reading airports.
Score from 100 reviews Good
With a superb central location, 2 minutes' walk from Reading Railway Station and the pubs on Friar Street, the hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms with air cooling.
Score from 733 reviews Very good
In 30 acres of beautiful grounds in the Oxfordshire countryside, Henley Business School provides well-appointed accommodation by the River Thames.
Score from 190 reviews Superb
That we got back late after a festival and the night porter made us a great selection of sandwiches and bought them to the room at a very reasonable price. The staff were friendly and helpful, rooms clean, comfortable and nicely decorated .breakfast was very good. Location was perfect with gardens by the river
That we only spent one night
We were superbly looked after at a perfect location
Excellent location. Beautiful walks along the tow path and within walking distance to the centre of Henley. Hotel very nice. Food in the Orangery Restaurant was excellent. Good breakfast too.
As a private members club there are some areas and facilities which were not accessible to us.
It is a lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Our room was very spacious and comfortable.
The showers are quite hard to use given that they are shower attachments over a bath. For the cost and type of hotel I would expect a proper shower.
I wrote in my booking that Wifi of good quality is a MUST for me, but it never worked in my room, only next to the reception was possible. Its not a hotel its a home for elderly. Always a long que to the reception with elderly that need help with something.
Great old style traditional accommodation right on the Thames.
Ambiance, comfortable beds, rooms and good bathrooms
Breakfast and service very poor quality, no food available on Sunday Evenings
Nice breakfast. Good lounge, bar area.
Over priced. No chair in bedroom. Overlooking building works.
warm welcome our room views of gardens and river Thames general ambiance excellent food and service in the dining room gardens and terrace orangery(breakfast)
no problems we liked it all
The position on the river at Henley is world class and the facilities good. The evening was fine but in spite of the prior warning about a possibly noisy event intruding. It didn't but . .
. . the next morning was Saturday and we had hoped for a lie-in and late breakfast. Suddenly at 8.00 it sounded like the Third World War had started outside our room as a tree-felling gang began chainsawing and mulching branches. The was no manager to consult only an unsympathetic receptionist who said there was nothing she could do. We left and had breakfast in the town!
Charming environment and beautiful position overlooking the river
Building works starting at 8am in the morning - not the peaceful start to the day !
The situation was beautiful and very convenient for Henley town
Very poor breakfast and room very poor for the money. Not allowed to use facilities and all the rules about what you can wear and areas that you are not allowed to use your phone etc. It is almost like you are inconveniencing them to be a hotel guest! This is a club and maybe it should of stayed that way!
ROOMS WERE BEAUTIFUL
BAR WAS A BIT STUFFY
Very good Hotel, good location and surroundings and excellent WiFi facilites. Staff were very friendly. Bathroom in the room was very spacious. Room decor and cleanliness is to 5 star standards. Breakfast was prepared when requested before the usual opening hours, as I had an early start. Car parking facilities plenty! Good surroundings by the river. Walking distance to Henley town centre.
Room facilities and bed
Smell of paint in the bedroom
The choice of juice at breakfast was orange or orange. Any other juice had to be purchased at an exorbitant cost. Both people in our party are allergic to OJ.
Fantastic location, spotlessly clean, friendly helpful staff and the most comfortable bed!
Lovely location Helpful, friendly staff Lovely room
I had to come home!
The hotel is well situated and convenient for easy access to the town center. Also nice views of the river. The clientele while we were there were mainly older and it seems the hotel is more geared towards this generation.
Breakfast had a very limited choice.
I found the staff very helpful. The room was very comfortable for me. I liked the food and I was especially happy with the hot water bottle.
River view, free plentiful parking, short stroll to Henley on Thames town centre with fine resturants. Need to have regard of what venue is - a private members club with dress code. Steeped in history and tradition.
Spacious area to relax and read the papers. Lovely location by the river.
Rooms a little on the small side although the communal area is excellent.
Excellent river-front location; large, quiet rooms; good breakfast
