This charming hotel is situated on the picturesque harbour of Charlestown, offering some stunning views of the port and coastline of St Austell Bay.

Pier House Hotel has a selection of rooms, a bar/bistro and an à la carte restaurant offering many different delights, from cream teas to lobster caught locally here in Charlestown. The bar of the hotel is a free house, as is the adjoining pub the Harbourside Inn which was opened in 2004 and offers a selection of real ales and serves good food.

The hotel is situated just a few miles drive from the Eden Project with many other gardens close by, making it an ideal base to explore all that Cornwall has to offer.

All children under 10 years are charged GBP 10.00 per night and person for extra beds.

Maximum capacity of extra beds/babycots in a room is 1.

Extra beds and baby cots are upon request and need to be confirmed by the hotel.

Supplements will not be calculated automatically in the total costs and have to be paid separately in the hotel.

Food & beverage

The hotel has an à la carte restaurant which has a wide range of delicious meals to choose from such as locally caught fish dishes, steaks (cooked to your liking), and a good choice of vegetarian meals. We also have a bar/bistro which has its own superb menu to choose from. Alternatively, you can try the Harbourside Inn which adjoins the hotel and offers a varied menu selection. We provide a wide range of local bitters to choose from along with wine and various soft drinks.

Room information

The hotel has a selection of en suite rooms, including single, double, deluxe and family rooms, some of which have either sea and/or harbour views. Room service is available if required. All rooms are equipped with standard facilites.

Area information

The hotel is situated in the port of Charlestown approximately 3 miles drive from the Eden Project. There are also breathtaking scenes to be enjoyed on the cliff top walks. To the north east is Carlyon Bay which has a golf course and to the west Porthpean which has a fantastic beach to enjoy. There is a Shipwreck and Heritage Centre for you to take a look around if you enjoy history and discovering new things.

Other attractions situated nearby include The Lost Gardens of Heligan (7.4 miles), Dairyland Farm World for children (12.7 miles), and Lanhydrock House which has a stunning 17th century house and gardens to enjoy (9.5 miles). There are also some pretty towns close by for you to spend your money or simply walk around and enjoy such as Newquay with it's great beaches and night life (18.3 miles), Bodmin with its steam railway (13.5 miles) and Mevagissey, a working fishing harbour (7 miles).

Important information

To guarantee a table at the à la carte restaurant pre-booking is essential. However we also have a bar/bistro and the Harbourside Inn for which booking is not required. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a lift.

Lovely friendly staff. Immaculate rooms. Tea and coffee making facilities were great

A bit noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, but that was not a problem to us. I stress that there was a band playing (I Think) in the Harbourside Inn, but, all was quiet after midnight.

A friendly lady in charge of breakfast, good location, good food, clean.

Extractor fan broken, tiles curling in bathroom, toilet seat broken on one side, no controller for sky tv, could feel matress springs, noisy outside.

Hotel is located in an excellent area with other local entertainment available. The restaurants in the hotel are excellent and the local views great. Friendly staff and good beer

The friendliness of the staff throughout the hotel. The variety of meal options in the restaurant , bar and bistro. The superb location at the harbour entrance. the excellent quality of the grill breakfasts. Well signed routes within the hotel.

Lack of adjacent parking facilities and restrictions when dropping off luggage. The " official " overnight parking is an agreement with a partner hotel some 400 metres up a hill. Not very convenient in wet cornish weather !

The location was great, right on the edge of the sea and also there was a regatta at the time which was fun. The people are very friendly in the area of Charlestown and even though it was a small place there were some lovely little pubs to eat and drink in.

Not particularly, we only had a small window in the room and no air con but for the price we paid it was fine. More expensive rooms had better views so that is available if you want it.

The staff were all very helpful and accommodating. The location overlooking the harbour was very pretty.

However the room was rather small for £95 a night. The bed was too soft.

The friendly staff and excellent food

Rather small room located in a connected annex above an adjacent bar - the noise every evening was dissapointing and the group on Saturday meant we had to leave our room
