being located in the lodges rooms really good breakfast good and plenty of it Easy arrival and departure even though wedding party there
rooms really warm
Service with a smile, remembered from working visits some time ago. Clean comfortable room in the main house, Good choice of evening meal menus, and an excellent breakfast service. Well kept gardens to walk in, and the weather was brilliant.
The room we stayed in, bed was a bit firm, and the major gripe was the shower. You got wet turning it on, and soaked the bathroom floor. Minor faults though. 2 days was not enough!
We had a most enjoyable stay in Piersland House, unfortunately only for one night. We wish we could have stayed longer. The staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was excellent.
We didn't like leaving!
Nice hotel... friendly and attentive staff... nothing to much trouble. Room was very good... large... clean and bed comfy. breakfast also excellent. SO MUCH BETTER AND NICER than the Marine Hotel across the road.... which was dreadful and I will never stay at again.
Nothing. .. It is a really nice hotel
Receptionist immediately chased up room availability to allow us time to change for our family wedding. Grabbed a quick sandwich in the lounge which was very tasty. Whole wedding went without a hitch and nothing was too much trouble for the staff including preparing a bottle of milk for our little grandson. Everything was great.
Not happy that we couldn't order a glass of Shiraz to go with our lunch but hey, we survived.
Quirkiness of the hotel grounds and staff were great
location facilities staff food comfort quality of decoration room gardens
Liked the location, the bed and the ensuite bathroom.
Difficult stairs to climb. Lack of decent light in the bathroom for make-up, etc. Food was average, nothing special. We had the grilled fish but there was no crispy skin and all the textures were the same.
Nice gardens for a drink in the sun and lovely building
Wouldn't recommend for younger couples, not much to do
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely.
Bedrooms at back of hotel - especially room no 1 - are affected by kitchen noise/fans/industrial refridgerator switching on and off. Really off-putting. Room was poorly serviced after first night (stayed 2 nights) with bed superficially made and dirty dishes/glasses still left in room after maid had finished.
Great cottages good quality food good service great location
Twin beds, one uncomfortable and creaky one good. Wet room floor kept flooding even several hours after use, used too many towels to keep it at bay- cottage 28
Excellent hotel - welcoming staff, fantastic food and clean, comfortable rooms.
Bathroom size room comfort oldy worldly meets modern chic. Food was good although the Bacon at breakfast should have been smoked bacon more tender.
The tables we had diner at could have been awee bit more stylish to match the seating. Some cutlerly a little old looking and breakfast teapots abit old but not Victorian.
The hotel building and public areas were lovely.
Noise from ventilation fans woke me up 5.30am both mornings. Staff were not friendly. Breakfast was £12 per person.
Well furnished rooms and clean. Food lovely. Staff friendly and very comfortable throughout.
Room, food, staff, service, location, in fact everything. A first class hotel.
cottage and food
no fridge in cottage
Chalet type rooms around a courtyard. These were spacious with separate living room and bedroom. Beautifully decorated and well equipped.
Heating must have been centrally controlled. Although it was July the rooms felt chilly at night and I would have appreciated being able to turn on the radiators to take the hill off the room
Beautiful, interesting building. Very spacious, comfortable rooms with king size beds. Nice position by golf course and not far from the beach. Good access to trains to get into Glasgow and to either airport. Lovely food from a very varied evening menu.
I do think, when you have paid over £100 a night for a room, they could throw in a bit of breakfast, even if its just toast. I always think its a bit much when you end up spending another £10 for something to eat.
Food was excellent, staff friendly
This was a great place to stay to make our headquarters while in Troon. Close to city. Near Royal Troon Golf Course - easy walk to view it. Close to beach for a nice walk. They were very accomodating to all our needs. Always clean & waited for a good time to come clean every day. Was just a great all around time.
We stayed in one of the cottages which I think are a really good idea. You have the feeling of being self-catering and self-contained. We attended a wedding and the grounds were really good in that you could open the doors and sort of spill out.
The fridge did not appear to be very cold.
Food excellent. Good location, a beautiful hotel with well kept gardens and grounds.
