Ease of parking and good food in restaurant

Cold rainy day. No fire in pub.

Spacious and luxurious room ideal for persons with mobility issues set in pleasant surroundings.Friendly Pleasing staff.

Very poor breakfast. At 0900hrs there was no fruit and little cereal available We waited 50 mins ( Yes 50) for an excuse for a cooked breakfast. It was so sparse- one small egg,one piece of short back bacon one stunted sausage(about 12 to the pound) a small piece of black pudding and a tiny tub of beans, no mushrooms or tomato. Apparently the "the chef was stressed by different people wanting fried, boiled and srambled eggs..

Excellent service & lovely surroundings - we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - also worth noting that the adjoining pub serves good quality food (meat sourced from a nearby farm ) and has a decent wine list

Nothing negative to say

1) The best breakfast (eggs benedict) I've had outside of London/New York and at least 1/3rd the price. 2) Very pleasant staff. 3) Comfotable bed. 4) Fruit in hallway - nice touch.

1) No heating in room but £20 docked from bill so satisfied that problem resolved satisfactorily. 2) Configuration of settee in room - should face the TV.

Excellent accommodation, great breakfasts. Convenient to visit Beaulieu Car Museum.

Nice country pub with good food

Nothing except main road nearby

Although near a very busy road, the sound could not be heard from our room. The room was very clean and comfortable. Whilst it vas too warm, probably one of the better nights sleep than I usually get in a hotel. Staff were very helpful (extra pillow, local information etc). Food was yummy and good choice of wines. We enjoyed our brief stay and would come back.

Difficult to open and close windows as furniture in the way. Hairdryer too far from a mirror! And the room was too hot.

Very comfortable rooms and good food.

The staff were all really friendly and the service was first class - there is a lot that some of the larger hotel chains could learn from the staff at The Pilgrim about customer service. The room was superb.

The room was immaculate and large. The bed was comfy. The shower worked. The tea and coffee were great. Ample parking. Pound for pound the best room I've stayed in.

Good sized room, nicely decorated. Good shower. Rooms are separate from pub. Had it not been for the cleanliness issues, this would have been a nice place.

Some housekeeping issues going on here, dirty bed runner, cloth at tea- making area & the carpet need a good shampoo, walls need a wipe, bathroom door needed cleaning. Staff were unconcerned when issues raised. Overpriced & inconsistent in terms of breakfast quality.

The setting.

A real disappointment. Grubby scuff marks around the room and bathroom. mildew on the hower door. NO hot water in the shower converter taps. So a cold washin O degree March weather!!! Not pleasant. At best this hotel is an ordinary pub serving very ordinary food by pleasant, but inexperienced staff. A ship without a Captain, is perhaps the way to describe this establishment. Definitely not the luxury Inn with up market rooms and exceptional food, one was led to expect. AND at an exceptionally expensive price , there are far more lovely value for money New Forest Hotels nearby that we have experienced and WILL be returning to. Breakfast stops at 9.30 which is quite unacceptable, also. Pilgrim Inn do pull your socks up !!

Excellent relaxed environment ,good atmosphere and food. Great friendly staff. Hythe pier train and ferry to Southampton.

The pub restaurant with its thatched roof is very picturesque.

At night the Executive Room we stayed in was so warm (radiator off?) we had to have the window open resulting in the noise from a busy nearby road keeping us awake. Thought the room was over-priced.

Breakfast

Meagre portions in the restaurant left me hungry. Wifi stopped working after a while. No minibar. Tiny tv with mostly shopping channels. Old towels. Cheap plastic bathroom fittings. Facilities certainly not worth the charge of £100 a night. There are better places elsewhere.

Perfect weekend break. At the outset let me say this is not a luxury five star hotel. So to avoid any chance of disappointment do not expect the style of top class locations where you may have stayed before. However if you would like to stay somewhere that is clean ,safe,comfortable with staff who care and has a relaxed ambience rather than a formal one - then is the place! We wanted to be reasonably close to Southampton but not in the centre and this location was ideal. The Hotel comprises of two buildings one is basically a nice country pub with a small restaurant, a good atmosphere ,open fires and a mixed clientele because not all customers are residents. Across the car park entrance is the accommodation which is an old thatched roof style building but it has been fitted out well and is both secure and comfortable. We stayed in room 2 which was a reasonable size - on the plus side we enjoyed our stay there - on the down side the well furnished room had bare floor boards-which we felt at least needed a rug or two! The wardrobe is open without doors , the shower is over the bath not separate but the room still had a nice feel about overall. It was nice to have tea making facilities and soya milk was kindly available as requested,but don't expect biscuits. Or a mini bar,or air conditioning ,an iron or room service -all things normally taken for granted in five star hotels. I have tried to give a fair and balanced review and overall I was not disappointed with my choice of the Pilgrim and I felt I got fair value for money.

The road noise was not a problem for our room (2) but could be for some rooms.You are on the edge of the New Forest in the country but the adjacent road is still busy. It was also odd that despite taking care to furnish the room with thought there was a rusty handle on the bathroom cabinet - a simple thing to replace and fix. These are some indicators as to why this hotel is good rather than very good!

Room 11 Waitress Kat was fantastic !!

Bathroom was not as picture. Valentine night meal...very poor theme, only 2 tiny choc hearts on table and nothing else !!!! TV had only 5 channels..freeview was not working and did not get fixed during our 2 day stay.

Good room , if a little too warm . Lovely building and setting.

Breakfast was very good , but they had run out of vegetarian sausages . The evening meal was nice but the puddings a little disappointing .

very well layed out rooms , space to spare , bathroom to die for loads of good for and for very good price would recommend
