Pilgrims Hotel  

The location mid-centre is very convenient. Also opposite theatre and close to parking lot.

The water pressure in the bathroom was very poor. Taking a shower could best be done outside in the rain.

The food was very good. We were left alone unless we needed something. We arrived early but was still given our rooms and we were hungry and lunch did not start until 12 noon but they let us order at 11.45.

Quite pleased with everything.

Location right in city centre, opposite theatre. Lovely old building with exposed beams and attractive decor. Friendly helpful staff

A wider choice on the menu for vegetarians would be welcome

The food and staff were very good and would recommend it to anyone who wanted a good meal

We found the room to be very small in particular the bathroom which I feel should have been a shower room enabling you to use the toilet without touching the hand basin. Also it would have been nice to have had a lounge in the evenings before retiring to bed,

We thought it great that we had a four poster, however the mattress was hard, and the bed squeaked every time you rolled over. The toilets all had maceraters which made a loud noise, especially when the people in the next room were going every hour throughout the night.

Friendly, helpful staff. Good simple restaurant with 10% discount for residents. Comfortable bed. Right in the city centre and in walking distance of the main sites.

Plumbing. Loo flush broke whilst we were there and was quickly mended by a member of staff. Shower barely worked producing just a trickle of water. Worse the hot water was turned off with no notice so that the plumbers could work in the next door room, when we were in the middle of a shower and we had to use cold water from the basin to rinse the suds off. They did give us our meals for free though to make up for that.

The Pilgrim's hotel has a fantastic location and is pleasant and clean. The breakfast was also enjoyable and fairly generous.

The hotel is an old building and as such you have to expect that some walls are not the thickest, but the noise that penetrated our room (especially before 9:30am) was a little surprising. Sawing, hammering and hoovering noise were all fairly regular during our two mornings in the hotel. We were later informed that some improvements were being made to the bathrooms in the hotel, but we were not forewarned of this, which was disapppointing.

Lovely, accommodating staff who were only too happy to help. Comfy room at a decent price and breakfast was included although sadly we didn't have time to sample it!

I feel the bathroom could use an update as it was a bit small and uncomfortable. The lighting was a little dim as well and perhaps could use new light fittings. These are only minor niggles though as overall it was a nice hotel!

Great location in a lovely City, with very good restaurant food, and friendly staff. This is the second time we have stayed here.

The location is very good.

Initially, there was a mix up over our rooms which had been given to somebody else. This was eventually resolved and we had the 4 poster Carlisle room. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and it was very difficult to open the windows for fresh air.

The location was absolutely perfect for being close to everything we wanted to see and do in Canterbury. We found the staff pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was delicious, the dinner menu was very nice, and the place was quaint and charming--we had a great time enjoying drinks with friends of ours, too. Our room was right on the street, but we didn't find it all that noisy even when the young folks visiting the "Canterbury Tales" pub down the block wandered down to the High Street afterward. The other guests, however . . .

The mattress on the bed was only slightly softer than the floor, and the pillows were not quite as flat as pancakes--not the most comfortable place I've ever slept. The toilet was barely five inches away from the wall, so one doesn't have much room to "take care of business." And I couldn't believe how the other guests let their doors slam shut, no matter how late at night. The bathroom had three signs posted, telling people not to flush anything but toilet paper--three or four signs posted in the rooms and on the backs of the doors telling people to not let the doors slam would be a better use of paper.
