Central location Customer service was very poor. We were not informed about anything when we checked in - breakfast time, dinner, bar, ordering papers. We received only two small hand towels on one day of our visit. It was very difficult to order extra coffee or even toast we were given once slice between us on one occasion. The sheets weren't very crisp. The staff did were not very responsive to the customers needs - it was difficult to get their attention.

Such a central location. Decent restaurant and splendid breakfast. Dinner good value. We took two single rooms, one of which turned out to be the best in the hotel.

Lovely, accommodating staff who were only too happy to help. Comfy room at a decent price and breakfast was included although sadly we didn't have time to sample it! I feel the bathroom could use an update as it was a bit small and uncomfortable. The lighting was a little dim as well and perhaps could use new light fittings. These are only minor niggles though as overall it was a nice hotel!

We liked the fact that the hotel is situated in a very good location for easy access to the town centre and the shops. The food was very good and the staff friendly. Our room was above a large room in the restaurant and the noise was such that we could not sleep. It lasted until 1.00am. We could clearly hear the conversations going on below as if we were there too!! We mentionned this in the morning to the staff and they said "sorry".... May be we were unlucky. There is no parking in secure location as said on the booking form, we had to pay £5,00 car parking, not a problem if you are aware of this but we were not until we arrived.

The location is very good. Initially, there was a mix up over our rooms which had been given to somebody else. This was eventually resolved and we had the 4 poster Carlisle room. However, the bed was very uncomfortable and it was very difficult to open the windows for fresh air.

It had a good central location Parking was an issue, I was told it cost £5 to leave my vehicle in a Council car park so I paid reception for a voucher. We arrived at the car park to find that it was free to park the vehicle after 9pm and before 7.30am(we checked in at 9.30pm and were due to leave at 7am).

It was near the shops and convenient for tourist attractions. A comfortable room. A good selection of breakfast choices. A nice welcoming fire in the foyer. I did have to wait a while for attention at reception to check in.

The location was absolutely perfect for being close to everything we wanted to see and do in Canterbury. We found the staff pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was delicious, the dinner menu was very nice, and the place was quaint and charming--we had a great time enjoying drinks with friends of ours, too. Our room was right on the street, but we didn't find it all that noisy even when the young folks visiting the "Canterbury Tales" pub down the block wandered down to the High Street afterward. The other guests, however . . . The mattress on the bed was only slightly softer than the floor, and the pillows were not quite as flat as pancakes--not the most comfortable place I've ever slept. The toilet was barely five inches away from the wall, so one doesn't have much room to "take care of business." And I couldn't believe how the other guests let their doors slam shut, no matter how late at night. The bathroom had three signs posted, telling people not to flush anything but toilet paper--three or four signs posted in the rooms and on the backs of the doors telling people to not let the doors slam would be a better use of paper.

The staff were efficient and friendly. The food was excellent and well served. The hotel was ideally situated for the town centre. The room was clean. Room overlooked backyard and noisy kitchen area. Large crack in washbasin. Grubby carpet in bathroom - carpets should be banned in hotel bathrooms as they are unhygenic. Radiator thermostat unreliable. Cups and glasses tasted of cleaning product - washed with same cloth as bathroom? When the fire alarm went off at 1am we followed procedure and waited outside opposite the hotel, but no staff member came to find us.

Its very clean and well set up; we are from another country, yet the staff is very caring and professionally helpful; we like the four poster double bed we like instead of the twin which I originally planned; Claire took time to explain the map of Canterbury which was a big help; the streets have different names although it runs like the major street, High st becomes confusing bec of the name change although it runs straight; we will be back to Canterbury and be at Pilgrims Hotel again!

Location in the centre of Canterbury is really good. A very short walk to everything of interest. It's a very old building which is part of it charm, but if you like brand new decor and fittings its not for you. The nearest car-park is a public car-park some 5 minutes walk away. No problem car-parking and the hotel has a deal on price, but if you have large bags its not terribly convenient.

Excellent position in centre of city and next door to the Marlowe theatre. Very busy restuarant, so can be restrictive dinning at the hotel. Hotel bar closes at 23:00hrs which can again be restrictive if returning from the theatre.
