Just feet from Canterbury’s medieval West Gate, this charming building dates back to 1403. A former coaching inn, it offers free Wi-Fi and free parking, a short walk from the center of the city.

Lovely central location, very friendly staff. Rooms small but comfortable and very typical of Canterbury and its history. Breakfast was lovely.
comfortable bed - good breakfast
the bathroom was too small better if it had a shower instead of a bath it would have more easy for a mature couple to get in.
Stay from from start to finish was excellent, staff welcoming, breakfast was well cooked have already booked to stay again
Bteakfast was very poor on first morning, my wifes breakfast was given to someone else first then warmed through twice more. Better second day.
everything apart from the bathroom
the bath room in 10
Friendliness of staff and helpfulness the food was wonderful They accommodated our family when they called in They were always ready to help and never made us feel that our requests were a nuisance Loved the old world ambience
For our 90 year old guest the stairs were a bit too steep and narrow
It is an old fashioned hotel with narrow stairs and corridors and the decor matches. We had a four-poster, which I really liked - it was quite high but surprisingly comfortable. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Location is excellent is just off the High Street and right in the centre of Canterbury.
The hotel is opposite the Marlowe Theatre, which has a large open space in front of it, so you not only get the announcements from the theatre, which were surprisingly loud, we were also plagued by noise from kids on skateboards and bikes who used the space until quite late. There is no parking, although the hotel does have an arrangement with a car dealership a couple of streets away and it is possible to pay to leave the car there.
Absolutely amazing hotel and staff were wonderful and very helpful to my partner and I. The first impression of the room was lovely, really classic style feel to it and the breakfast was outstanding and the restaurant meals were perfection. I would definitely stay here again!
I can't fault this hotel for the price and location. The best place to stay in the heart of Canterbury that's for sure!
The restaurant was fantastic and also the staff were great.
Beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were to hard. The bathroom looked like it had been refurbished by an amateur as well as the poor water pressure meant the shower was pointless.
cramped bathroom(no 9)
Within walking distance of all major attractions and restaurants Good sized room . Quiet despite being opposite the theatre and close to late night pubs
Feels a little dated .
Ate in restaurant for dinner quality of food & menu excellent. Breakfast was great. Staff very friendly & helpful. Location couldn't be bettered
The helpful staff and proximity to the places of interest in Canterbury. Staying in a building that has stood there for so long.
Being woken by the birds squabbling at dawn, though I can't blame the hotel for that.
The price The food The atmosphere The location
Bed not very comfy - pillows too hard and duvet far too heavy.
The Pilgrims dining options are a hidden gem. My mouth still waters at the poached pear with saffron that I had for dessert. Very friendly staff and the a sense of local charm. Good location, very close to the cathedral. Very close to high street. I loved this little hotel with its local charm and friendly staff. Could easily stay here again. And, the rooms have modern bathrooms with fancy rain showers and a bath! Fabulous.
Rooms a bit small.Steep narrow stairs, if that's an issue for you. Breakfast starts at 8 am which is a bit late if you are in for business.
An ideal location for a visit to the city.
All ok good location for sightseeing no car park not a problem for us as able to park near hotel for which they charged £6.00 for 24 hours
Location, olde worlde atmosphere, excellent breakfast and menu
I had a single room with not enough hanging space, otherwise it was satisfactory and comfortable.
The Hotel is in a great Location Near to the Cathedral has nice rooms and is only ten minutes from the station.
Have No comment to make
Everything, location to the city centre, the very helpful staff, and the spacious room we had. 10 out of 10, Look forward to staying there again.
Nothing to dislike.
Good sized single room Clean and modern bathroom Proper opening window Free wifi in room Nicely cooked breakfast Great location
No hairdryer as standard in room
Friendly , efficient and helpful staff. Good breakfast and good service.
Good location, nice steak restaurant attached to hotel. Best choice if you want to go to the Marlowe Theatre as it's directly opposite.
Room was tiny but well-equipped.
Good location, friendly staff.
Cracking location, good breakfast, excellent staff, typical great English atmosphere for foreign travelers.
Car parking is a bit of a pain but a small price to pay for car free walkabouts, apart from that very little else to moan about.
