A great room in a hotel with a lot of character. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Would recommend.

We liked the appearance of the hotel and the fact that it is 19th century. The grounds were beautiful and we appreciated the view from the dining room. The staff were friendly and helpful. We needed to be near the motorway for our onward journey. It was good to be able to book in early as we were meeting friends in the afternoon. The breakfast slot also enabled us to stay for as long as we needed.

It took us some time to work out how to lock the door to our room. We also did not notice the switch for the heated towel rail until the morning.

Convenient for the M20 and the International railway station

Altough the room appeared recently refurbished the finish especially in the bathroom with the bath panel is poorly executed.

The room was lovely and very clean. Breakfast was nice and had a wide choice on the menu.

Some if the staff weren't very welcoming. I asked for help with directions to an event but just got "never heard of that place" but no offer to find out for us. I also asked for some milk for our room, the member of staff I asked told me to ask at the bar. It was late and people were drunk in there and I didn't feel comfortable going in there,so I left it. Then had a meal in the restaurant on the Saturday night. I asked for the steak, but with sweet potato fries and salad. I said I didn't want the tomato,mushroom or peas. When it turned up it had the peas on it, a poor excuse for a salad (no tomato,onion,cucumber etc) just consisted of rocket!!! She also charged me extra for the sweet potato fries even though I didn't have the normal fries, tomato or mushroom. I think not having all that would of out weighted the price of the sweet potato fries. Then the following morning at breakfast the same waitress was working, she seemed shocked that we were guests and the trouble I had the night before from her service. She was also very hung over whilst serving breakfast.

It was a surprisingly clean and comfortable hotel, staff very professional and friendly at the same time, room large and comfortable, perhaps decor is slightly dated but not unpleasant. Will definitely stay again.

We liked the price and location as it was only 5 mins drive from party venue. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was cooked lovely and the service delivered with a smile. Although it was winter we still enjoyed a walk around the grounds out back on the Sunday morning after breakfast.

Before going out on Saturday night we went to the bar for a drink but had to queue for a while as there was only one person serving behind the bar.

Quality and cleanliness of the room, friendly staff

The location near to the Channel Tunnel was great, a 10 minute drive away for the morning drive to go over to France. The rooms were lovely, clean, spacious, comfortable, the bar area for drinks and the restaurant could not be faulted. The food was tasty, plentiful and breakfast was good. We had to leave before the main serving time for breakfast going to France but what the staff did lay on for us was plenty and well received.

There were no complaints. A good service and feel all round.

Lack of staff on Reception - had to track someone down in the bar to check in and out

Excellent value for money

Squeeky floor boards around the bed. Gorgeous bathroom tiling. The edging was not finished around the bath.

It was clean, it was very well decorated, it was just all over lovely.

There was nothing that we didnt like. We will be staying there again.
