Quaint old mansion house, beautiful
Broken thermostatic valve on radiator - and shampoo sachet couldn't be opened without tearing with teeth. Spoils my morning tea with the froth :-(
Great big family room very spacious and comfortable. Lovely breakfast
Pillows need attention far too hard and a bit noisy from above. Make sure you use the suggested postcode by the hotel...I missed it and ended up in a dead end but that was my fault for not checking it properly
Room was very clean and tidy, breakfast was excellent, enjoyed my stsy
Bed was a bit hard
Quaint period features and most reasonably priced wholesome food. I had an evening meal which was simple but well cooked and presented. It was like a well made home meal - no complaints. Bar prices very reasonable too. Room in the stable block cosy and comfortable, TV could be a tad larger - it was about the size of a laptop screen.
On arrival and check in was told room outside in the Amex stable block and a finger waved distainfully in some indiscriminate direction. Had to find it trudging across a saturated lawn and rough track in pitch black dark. Some lights and courtesy directions would have been welcome.
lovely big bedroom - very comfortable & clean. good breakfast, plenty of cat parking. overall excellent value for money.
staff cared and gave good service location to M4 etc good value
room and building friendly staff
The overall environment
There was not a vegetarian option for breakfast
very old english beautiful style! Very cosy! Very closed to motorway, so easy to reach by car.
Very good looking hotel and surroundings
Don't use the postcode when using a sat nav, it takes you to a dead end...
The setting and the history - it's a very old building - so if you like ultra modern this is not for you. Staff accommodating and friendly. Breakfast nice. Everywhere is very clean.
nothing not to like - we will be going again.
Shunted to rooms in converted outbuildings so felt out in sticks. Heating was an electric radiator and fan in bathroom so freezing when we arrived. Very basic room however was clean but wont stay again.
The rooms are varied and interesting in design. Nice homely feel. Nice breakfast.
We stayed in this hotel on 5 separate occasions during our trip to the UK. We were very happy with 4 of the rooms but the remote, ex cow shed room was extremely cold.
Room, bed, breakfast, gardens, price and staff.
Easy access to the M4 & A4. Very personal, not a big chain. Lovely grounds. Great hot breakfast! Excellent staff.
Shower unit ran hot, then cold. It was December, so very uncomfortable.
Basic range of facilities in room, tea/coffee, TV and en-suite. The rooms were a row of small chalets set to the rear of property, and you entered into the sleeping area, with sitting area and en-suite behind. This arrangement gave a feeling of space initially. Bed was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was well presented and tasty - full English.
TV in room was very small, as was the sitting area, situated behind the bedroom, and it was dark and uninviting.
Home from home
Fantastic place. Absolutely fantastic.
All the staff were very welcoming and friendly
We were a group of three and had the most beautiful huge room - very comfortable beds, clean - couldn't fault anything really. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Lovely big room. Excellent breakfast
Room was too hot.
Good WI fi reception in bedrooms. Pleasant staff. Good location.
I had Fish and Chips on my first night. Chips, salad peas fine, the fish was something else? Real problem finding with sat nav.
Most comfortable bed and pillows. Staff excellent, beautiful site.
Not the easiest to find, but worth it.
We arrived rather late and due to a SatNav mishap - arrived at the rear gates instead of the front gates. No matter, they were more than happy to open it and let us through. The staff were extremely friendly. It's quiet even though close to the M4. There's a Sainsbury close by and several pubs in the nearby village for food.
lovely room - comfortable bed, clean modern bathroom.
