Family run Room very comfortable Delicious breakfast
The staff were friendly and attentive and the hotel is well situated in Pitlochry. The rooms were spotless with well appointed bathrooms and lovely products. We didn't have an evening meal in the hotel however the breakfast was lovely with a huge choice of options.
We had requested a family room as we were travelling with our young son and we expected him to have his own bed however he was given a trundle mattress on the floor. It was comfy enough however the roo m just wasnt big enough and the little mattress was jammed in between our bed and the wall with no space between either wall or bed. Due to the low height and lack of space it was very claustrophobic. For the price of the room I would expect my son to have a proper bed.
As you will note from my answers we were very happy with the hotel - a lovely dining room and breakfast
On checking out I only quickly looked at the account and the total looked reasonable. On looking at it after in more detail I would say the meal charge of GBP20 on our first night was wrong as we each only had a bowl of soup. I should have queried it at the time however the handwritten account was hard to follow without pondering over it. Perhaps you should issue computer to set out the account in better detail
Staff were friendly and Dinner was great.
Cord for light over bed missing
warm and efficient reception and welcoming ambience
mattress! would have preferred a breakfast cafieterre/coffee pot.
Very friendly helpful staff. Beautiful gardens and spotlessly clean rooms. Friendly efficient breakfast service with good food.
We were upgraded for a small fee to a lovely suite. It was my birthday and I was given a card and chocolates by the staff. We both thought it was cosy and friendly. Liked the gothic-style building. Great location, sufficient parking.
1 or 2 members of staff were grumpy when serving breakfast.
Good location, excellent staff very good breakfast
Didn't like not being part of the main hotel
The Breakfast was superb.
Location, lounge, bedroom
Food was poor value
We wanted to stay in an old home, within walking distance to town. The location was excellent; it was quiet and within five minutes walk to the main street which had plenty of cafés, restaurants, pubs and shopping. The Dundarach had a comfortable reading room where we enjoyed a cocktail, rested after a long day and met other guests. It had exactly the small town charm yet modern comforts that we were looking for in a hotel. The staff were friendly and offered very helpful information to make our stay in Pitlochry memorable. We definitely recommend the Dundarach and can't wait to go back!
The hotel was easy to get to and just a short walk to the town. The staff could'nt have been more pleasant and helpful. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable.Would highly recommend this hotel.
Pitlochry is a perfect place to stay in Scotland. It is ideally situated to visit other wonderful locations. This was our second stay at this wonderful hotel and hope it will not be our last.
There is nothing we did not like. If we were to be picky then our room i,n the annex, although very comfortable, was very dark. Last time we visited we had a room overlooking the garden which was beautiful. Also, a lift would be a major asset.
Our rooms were beautiful and suited us all well - 6 adults and three children !. The food was good and the service impeccable.
We only stayed one night so it was manageable, but I would have preferred a shower rather than an enormous corner bath that took ages to fill. The bathroom was a wonderful size so there would be room to put one in if it is ever refurbished
Convenient for town centre and theatre etc. Dining room staff polite and efficient. Good choice for breakfast.
A small thing----it was difficult to reach the bath taps without standing in the bath!!
The second visit to the Forrest and this hotel, both are great. Very friendly welcoming staff at the hotel and can't do enough for you. Beautiful views and only a short walk to everything. Can't ask for better.
Nothing to dislike!
we had the four poster room which was very well appointed and extremely comfortable. The added extras where a lovely touch.Decor in the public areas is clean but could do with a little bit of an upgrade. All in all I would recommend friends and family to use this hotel.
On first entering the building it reminded me of Downton Abbey/Monarch of the Glen sets. It had a friendly ambience and I felt as though I was stepping back in time. The waiting staff (some of whom doubled up as housekeeping) were very friendly and excellent. We had a comfortable stay and I enjoyed the Sunday morning in the drawing room/lounge area relaxing before heading off. Would come back again.
Hotel catering for older people and therefore felt the breakfast times was a bit rushed although there was plenty of choice. Did not like the 9.30 cut off time. Could perhaps be extended to 9.45. The Table D'Hote menu OK but needed a bit more "punch" flavourwise to it. The main course of trout was very good though.
Big room, clean
Only one highchair for breakfast! Have twin toddlers. All foreign staff at breakfast who speak somewhat English. Constant moving around us at breakfast to move empty plates, too soon. So felt hurried out. Not very child friendly hotel. Toilets could be doing with updating.
Spacious room with large comfortable bed. Excellent food - dinner was fabulous and filling.
Cozy lounge, dining room, in the traditional mode. Excellent room (superior double). Enjoyed dinner.
we would have liked more time to appreciate the hotel and grounds we were there to see the enchanted forest so the location was very good
Staff especially the owner could not do enough to help. Very friendly
Quite tired and needs a make over desperately. The eastern European staff whilst very friendly did not give us the Scottish experience
Dundaroch is a traditional hotel with old-time hospitality, service, facilities and decor. It is very well situated in relation to the Pitlochry Festival Theatre (perhaps less so for the town itself) and provided almost everything required for our comfort. We particularly enjoyed the architecture, ceiling cornices, paintings, views and grounds. On my mental checklist of 'what to hope for in a hotel room' our room unobtrusively passed the test!
Our stay was pretty expensive which might have been a consequence of the Ryder Cup. The hand-held shower didn't work and the bar menu was limited and expensive. These were minor problems - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return - especially at the prices offered on our departure!
