I stayed in early September so I seem to have missed the holiday crowds. There were just 5 staying. Superb hostel with very helpful warden.
Like all YHAs, the decor in bedrooms is spartan. But the kitchen was well equipped with plenty of fridge and cooker spaces, and staff very helpful- they offered a girl who was not well to lay down over lunch when the hostel is normally closed. Nice views from dining room. 2 lounges, one with extra reading light, and warm.
We like open windows in the bedroom- however, I doubt you could have closed them properly if you wanted to.
location is very nice and the building too. There is space for parking and the view from the hostel on Pitlochry is very nice indeed. Staff was helpufl.
I went to the room at 11pm and I found out that I have to make my own bed. For 20 pounds in a room with 6 people I hoped that they would prepare the bed. On Sunday (don't know about other days), the Youth Hostel was closed for cleaning from 10am to abouth 4pm; don't know which hostel needs that much time for cleaning.
We enjoyed the location and the staff was excellent.
However the room and beds were not up to the standard. Can seriously do with an uplift.
Location is superb, stunning views all round; it is sited within 6-7 minutes walk from the centre of Pitlochry, so one can benefit from the facilities of the town without actually living among the bustle of shoppers and traffic. The building itself is majestic, castle-like. Perfect base for outdoor pursuits.
Clean room, comfy beds, plenty of hanging space nice location, welcoming staff, good breakfasts. The sitting areas looked comfortable too.
Ceiling light had only one bulb working.
The room was clean and comfortable, security was great and left you to feel comfortable being there. The bathroom in the room was a great added bonus, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had the cooked breakfast in the morning and it was great that we could arrange the time we had it, the food was great. It was close enough to the centre of town that it was only a few minutes walk.
The only downfall to this hostel is initially finding it, we had to end up asking 3 people for directions but once we found it it was easy to find again.
Nice building and competent staff Plenty of parking
The location of the hostel was excellent - very central with beautiful views! The staff were excellent and very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable.
I did feel that the cooked breakfast was quite expensive and this wasn't reflected in the quality (very cheap, mushy sausages and fatty bacon). However, this is optional so easily avoided!
Staff kitchen facilities
The entire building is locked from 11-16:30. Really inconvenient.
very clean in a good location with good views. good bresky
clean kitchen, value for money, nice view from room
Location. High up above Pitlochry, mountains all around. The hostel is 400m away from the Moulin Inn, a great place that brews its own ale. Good hand-pulled stuff is, sadly, a bit of a rarity in Scotland outside the big cities.
Not the hostel's fault: the selfish sod who snored most of the night. If you are aware of your habit (which I know that you didn't choose) then why do you book into a shared dorm? Show some consideration for others.
Staff was bored not helpfull, mornig staff ok Not free wifi
The friendliness of the staff, bed was comfortable.
Only one double socket in such a large room and felt the rooms would have benefited from small single lockers to store personal items.
As older travelers this was the first time we had used a hostel, primarily because of availability and price. What a nice surprise. Although our room was sparse, we had our own ensuite, and the beds were good. Staff were lovely and very helpful which made our short stay much earsier. Breakfast was good and we have used two more hostels since. Thank you very much.
It was difficult to find the hostel. England street can be hard to fathom. Because our luggage was large I found the stairs difficult, but everything else was fine.
Helpful friendly staff. Lovely views and location .
It was OK
Floors weren't clean Parking was very tight
Loved the sense of humour from the guy behind the counter - really I did! Great location, easy to find - perfect for what we needed...
Only got to stay one night... would have been happy to stay longer but had to move on...
Close to town nice view with sunset
views from hostel, good facilities and the staff were very helpful
Location is perfect. Lots of room, didn't feel camped. Staff and fellow residents were super friendly. Would definitely return.
I got up last in our dorm, and there was no hot water left, so had to have cold shower.
