A very friendly welcome and an excellent breakfast.

The very very compact shower toilet area along with a strong mildew smell probably because the extractor fan wasn't working.

The attention to detail was really good & many a so called 5 star hotel would learn from the attention & efforts of the owners. In addition to the expected facilities on offer there were a number of nice extra touches that made staying here enjoyable & really comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble, even my slightly unusual non-soya/dairy diet was catered for without a problem. Handy for travelling centrally and into Edinburgh & Linlithgow areas too- often missed by travellers who don't think to book North of the Forth Road Bridge, when actually it's just as handy for Edinburgh as anywhere is further South- and handy for travelling North too. Dunfermline is a nice wee town centre, with the historic Dunfermline Abbey being one of the best examples of Scoto-Norman monastic architecture around.

There's usually something a miserable guest can find to be very pernickity about with most hotels & guest houses if they want to be, but to be frank, even the most ardent complainer would have difficulty in finding fault here- there is absolutely nothing at fault and everything that is right about this lovely guest house and the lovely people who run it. I challenge Alex Polizzi to prove me wrong- she won't!

Just one word.... PERFECT! We couldn't have wished for more. Gorgeous little house, beautiful rooms, beakfasts were to die for and the jokes cracked by Jim and Liz at breakfast time had us all in stitches.

The fact that our visit came to an end. We were so sorry to leave.

Jim & Liz were such lovely hosts and they have truly created a wonderful oasis with the Pitreavie Guest House. It was a treat to stay there, especially as a solo traveler. It means a lot to find a place where you are immediately comfortable and feel such a warm welcome. I'll definitely pick the Pitreavie the next time I need to stay in Dunfermline.

The only drawback is that the house is near a busy intersection. Since I'm used to this at home, it didn't bother me at all, but if you are a sensitive sleeper be sure to bring some earplugs. This is no reflection on the Pitreavie, since their place is so very nice. But Dunfermline is an active city with a bustling community, so it isn't like the quiet you experience while staying in the remote areas of the highlands. This kind of noise is natural for this type of busy town... just keep in mind when you book.
