Friendship & courtesy of everyone & safety & ease of car parking. The restrictive breakfast menu which would benefit froma wider variety of a cooked breakfast. I.E. Salmon, smaller portion of scrambled eggand watercress or suchlike., Unaccompanied by obligatory toast but the option of separately providing toast or bread and butter (white or brown.,

Homely comfortable hotel, rooms spacious and quietly appointed as seperate dwellings. Staff friendly and helpful. Wonderful quality food from Welsh suppliers, good selection, restaurant not pub food, but not overpriced. Good location with Abergavenny within 5 minutes walking- lovely shops, markets, castle, museum and galleries. Lovely views with mountains overlooking. Would definately recommend.

I cant find one negative thing about about Plasderwen. Warm welcome, lovely twin room with comfortable beds and the best breakfast I,ve tasted in a long time! Set in the beautiful town of Abergavenny, I'm only sorry it was only for one night, next time I'll stay longer

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They let us order dinner even though we missed the kitchen closing time one evening. The food was excellent and breakfasts were great. The twin rooom we stayed in was lovely and big. The towels were a great size and the shower was great.

The room was clean and comfortable and suitable for our needs Information of the menu should have been in the room and the breakfast selection could have been wider and toast was not offered as an option.

The room was of high standard one of the largest rooms stayed in clean and comfortable and quiet away from pub Free wi Fi use great bonus the food menu was limited and felt over priced for the standard of the food. Breakfast was average and slightly on the cold side had to ask for toast and no sugar supplied for cereals. Also limited tea and coffee supplied in rooms. DVD player advertised in rooms but none supplied and no plug socket near to the mirror for use of hairdryer etc.

I opted for this hotel as it was the only place I could get the requisite number of rooms at the time of booking and didn't give it much more thought after that but on arrival I realised how fortunate I'd been to book rooms there. The hotel was easy to find and the welcome on arrival was warm whereas the beer available from the in-house bar (and restaurant) was pleasingly cold!! My party ate at the hotel on our second night and whilst the starter and dessert could probably have been warmer, I thoroughly enjoyed my main course choice of locally-produced pork. The full Welsh breakfast in the morning set me up nicely for the day ahead!! The hotel owners/staff were friendly and helpful but not intrusive which, along with the unexpected size, style and comfort of the rooms (given the relatively low price per night) it all made for a good value for money break away for my party and I. The location of the hotel was ideally located within easy walking distance of the peaks I intended scaling and the town of Abergavenney had plenty of shops, places to eat etc. All in all a really relaxing and enjoyable trip away and I would without hesitation recommend Plas Derwen to others. There wasn't anything about this hotel that I didn't like. If I had to find a negative at all, it would only be two very trifling things; i) that I could hear the plumbing "follow-throughs" whenever someone in one of the adjoining rooms flushed their loo or ran their taps. ii) that the area of carpet next to my party's breakfast table hadn't been swept/hoovered prior to breakfast on the second morning and meant that there were wrappers, crumbs still visible but seeing as I wasn't eating off the floor it had no direct detriment to me and I just assumed that they'd not had time prior to the morning guests arriving for their food.

Clean, easy to check in It took over 40 minutes for a cooked breakfast to be served which when combined with unforseen traffic jams destryed the planning for te whole day. Breakfast should have taken no more than 30 minutes altogether.

The Plasderwen staff were very friendly, accomodating and more than helpful to my requests. The food was excellent and good value for money. I had steak and chips and the steak was cooked to perfection (which is a rare event in this country!) and the homemade chips were to die for - I didn't want them to end! I would definitely recommend Plasderwen for business or pleasure as it was fantastic value for money.
