We loved the location, as the gateway to south Wales and the Brecon Beacons. It is easy to get to, the food is fabulous, the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable

The premises had its own bar & restaurant so after a day of work it was great to be able to relax within the bed & breakfast. Staff were friendly.

There was some noise from resturant & bar below, although to be fair it stopped at about 11.00pm, so not really a problem.

Big modern room in annex so no noise from hotel, plenty of easy to access parking. Friendly staff and standard british food served in a nice environment. Well cooked breakfast.

Shower over bath not user friendly. Big bathroom but no shelves to put anything on, had to use toilet seat! Bathroom must have had 25w bulbs in it - if you want to shave or put on makeup bring a torch. (But the positives outway the negatives overall).

Very helpful friendly staff. Our room was enormous, warm and very comfortable. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a real luxury. Food was excellent, local produce, size of portions just right.

Bathroom v bare. Could do with towel rail, stand for toiletries and some complementary roiletries.

Nice atmosphere with bar and open fire. Good size car park overlooked by rear facing room.Room was large and warm. Staff were most helpful, and breakfast was superb, and served in nice conservatory. I'm sure food would have been good, but arrived too late for chef.

Coffee with breakfast was watery,( but was immediately replaced) a few minor tweaks needed to the room eg brackets missing for heated towel rail.(wired on) Nothing major though, and did not detract from enjoyment of hotel.

Outstanding - Plas Derwen is a hotel, pub and restaurant all rolled into one and it fulfils all roles admirably. Warm welcome, spacious room which was clean and comfortable, shower that could pin you to the bottom of the bath, bar selling good real ale and a restaurant that was super with a choice for everyone. Why would you choose a chain hotel with a nearby chain pub when this is available? I'll certainly be back.

Wi-fi was a bit slow to kick in but worked ok.
