This ibis Styles is in a central location in Birmingham, just a 15-minute walk from the Bull Ring shopping center. A free Continental Breakfast is provided and there is free Wi-Fi throughout.
Score from 402 reviews Very good
Very expensive evening meal - thought overpriced.
Poor decoration especialy in breakfeast area
locality & friendliness of staff and a good hotel
Convenient location, with frequent buses into the city nearby. A very pleasant atmosphere, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially helping with my heavy luggage. Nice breakfast included.
Staff very friendly , helpful and competent. Restaurant is well set out and food excellent.. Bar well appointed, comfortable and good service. Ambiance excellent
Room was lacking t.l.c. looking tired and neglected. Stains on carpet. Bed lumpy..
The location was excellent, breakfast for very good, as was the wi-fi. Good secure guest parking. Clean hotel and rooms.
Bathroom outdated, general look of the bathroom was tired and not appealing. The bed was comfortable but creaked at every slight movement.
comfortable roomy place but a warren of corridors and stairs
Location, easy to get to City centre against traffic in morning
Sign for parking not visible from drive in (I turned it myself for others unfamiliar) - meant I took additional detour
Lovely helpful staff throughout stay. Delicious restaurant. Comfortable bed. Gorgeous building. Free off-street parking.
No lift, which is fine, but would have been nice to know before arrival.
New GM Arran was polite, professional and courteous with a real "can do" attitude to sort out any issues or special requests! The hotel will be a real shining star with him at the helm.
Reception was slow and didn't really appear in control of checking in process and any requests
The only connection available in our room (105) was Cat5. No good for iPhone!
looked after by very well trained staff, Breakfast was lovely, so much nicer than a travel inn.
No Wi-Fi in our room, only downside.
as usual everything was excellent
Good hotel in good location..Good value for money.
Hot food served on cold plates at breakfast. Difficult to get to some rooms for those with a disability. My room, although on the ground floor was only accessible by going up two flights of stairs along a corridor and down again.
No lifts or help carrying oversized luggage up stairs. Staff overstretched.
This was a rather unusual hotel. It was in an excellent location with many buses into the town centre from a stop only 20m from the gate good and free car parking and excellent food. The staff were very friendly and did their utmost to please in spite of some rather quirky and annoying events. But all of these events were fixed in such a good spirit that we could not get cross about it!. We will be going back but we will go prepared with a bag full of assorted washbasin plugs etc . There was a problem with the WiFi (when the server got turned off) but there is a good 4g mobile data signal available as an alternative.
There were several quirky events. On arrival it we found that our bedroom door could not be locked when we went out - no matter says them we will move you and they did very quickly. The alternative was a room in the business wing with better WiFi capability. There was a snag in that there was no plug in the washbasin but we had a laugh with the receptionist when she appeared with a large bag of plugs. Unfortunately there was not one of the right size but a solution was found in such a good spirit that we could not get cross about it!. There was no dinner available in the dining room due to a private event but an excellent meal was offered in a private room in the adjoining pub - so we could laugh at that that. On the Sunday night after the event of the previous evening and a wedding fayre that day we were offered dinner in the dining room but when we ordered a bottle of wine no there was no corkscrew available; fortunately I had one in my car. Again we all had a laugh. It is a quirky hotel but fun. The hotel does need the attention of a good handyman team to fix quite a number of minor problems but we will be happy to go back.
A wonderful old-fashioned building with modern facilities and excellent rooms. We came here for our wedding anniversary and enjoyed every moment during our stay; there are even two bars to keep you occupied should you choose not to venture out, with Birmingham City centre just a five minute drive away. Our room was spacious, clean with all the mod-cons we could ask for. The on-site car park was a massive bonus. All in all, a very nice hotel that we will definitely visit again.
The bars need some real ale! I once heard they served Bathams here but not when we stayed- bring it back, please!
They've managed to maintain the old world charm of the older part of the building whilst having modern facilities in the new bit. Staff very helpful but could do with talking to each other (eight languages spoken but very little English) so that they all give the same information.
Food service is definitely a weak point. They didn't seem to understand what was being asked for and it sometimes took too long for it to arrive.
Location was excellent and there was also free parking on site. The room was spacious, if a little antiquated and very clean.
On arrival we had to ask for toilet paper. It was promptly delivered but not refilled by housekeeping staff so we had to ask again. There was no soap/ shower gel of any type in the bathroom. I asked for some and one tiny little block of soap was delivered ( to do 2 people 2days ). I was informed that the hotel would not have soap until the 1st of the month, that was the day I was checking out. There was no cold water in the bathroom sink and the hot water was boiling hot. We had difficulty getting water from the shower on the first day and I was going to ask for a change of room. However, just then the shower started to work. The shower would not work at all on the second day so neither of us could shower. There was a function on one night in the hotel. Our room was on the very far side away from the party room but it felt like the party was in our room. We could not sleep that night until well after the music had stopped
Sent an email with the booking details twice but still had to provide it again.
Charm comfort situation and value
Location and service
The building is simply beautiful. The lobby is clean and welcoming. The rooms have not been refurbished since the 1970s and are "tired." It is like stepping into a time machine. With an investment in renovating the rooms this would be a top-notch hotel.
The mildew on the walls. The quality of the food for the price.
The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. As a female travelling on my own I felt very safe and comfortable in all areas. Though a bit of a maze to find my room it was predominantly clean and very comfortable. The bar area is extremely comfortable and relaxing. I loved all the character features. Wifi is available in the bar area, though not in the rooms. Breakfast service was very efficient, with a wide choice of continental and cooked options. I chose a cooked option and it was delicious. Overall I was extremely happy in my stay and would highly recommend the hotel.
The sign posting to the rooms could be a little clearer, with more signs - there are so many twists and turns and different doors! It would be good to have wifi in the rooms but understand it's such an old and rambling building. There was no soap or shower gel on arrival in my room and not completely clean, but all sorted very quickly with no fuss.
