I liked the friendly and helpful staff, the breakfast was really good and a great choice. My room was very comfortable and the bed afforded a decent night's sleep. Modern flat screen television with freeview was also a bonus.
Disappointed that there was no WiFi available in my room - only available in some rooms.
mouldy no signage for fire exits very run down
The history, traditional features and comfort.
Hotel needs some renovation.
Large patch of black mould on the ceiling of the bathroom and no internet in our room.
Downstairs area was in good condition. Tea and coffee making facilities Excellent car park
The room had a bad smell. Following morning the smell from the drains was very unpleasant in the bathroom. Bedroom decor very jaded and depressing pictures on wall.
Personal place with stong quest orientation. Nice breakfast.
The staff are excellent especially the duty manager on reception when i arrived. She was very efficient and pleasant just what is needed after a long drive.
The hoptel is a bit dated but very comfortable, and good value for money
Very nice staff who were very accommodating. Nice setting and good meals provided by attentive staff, will defiantly use again.
Willingness of staff to resolve all of our issues
Arriving to find the room had not been touched since the last guest checked out. Faeces on the outside of the toilet in the second room. Peeling wallpaper and mould on the walls in the bedrooms.
the hotel is very good all round the staff are very friendly and helpfull
Being given the wrong room, twin and double when I booked 2 family rooms, but I don't think this was the hotels fault as they had not been sent the correct information.
Everything. I've stopped at this hotel four times in the last couple of months and the service from the staff is the worst I've had anywhere, this time I was going into the QE hospital for a major operation and requested a morning call at 6am which never got marks out of 10 a big fat zero
It was perfect. The room was very big and the bed comfortable. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Stayed at the Plough & Harrow on a Saturday. We booked in early and left the car in the car park to attend the T20 Finals at Edgbaston. Friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. The hotel was clean if a little dated but comfortable and would certainly book again for an overnight stay in Birmingham
Hotel in a good position near to the roads we needed to use and near all the facilities we required
No face cloths whenever we go to stay in hotels where it says towels we have always been given face cloths so annoyed that we had to go and buy our own Did have to walk a long way to our room
Near to our destination. Clean. Comfortable bed.
Very tired decor. Hard to find staff. Reception staff at time of leaving not especially interested. Very noisy main road and windows that couldn't be said to fit.
The guy in the bar was great!
When I arrived to check-in, it tool 10 mins to find someone. Checking out was exactly the same. Frankly, not good enough
Friendly staff, good breakfast, it was only a short walk to city center
Getting tokens to exit car park was a bit of pain, decor looking a bit tired.
Friendly staff, good food, location but looking a tired building.
The stairs a hotel like this should have one to much nice late at night from diso.

The staff treated me like a part of their family, that counts for a lot with me. Room service was excellent.
I was first in room 115 and found the noise of traffic sometimes unbearable.
The breakfast and bar area were very good.
Bathroom didn't have full toilet paper. Room not properly clean a bit musty
The staff were helpful and polite. The location was ideal for me. I would definitely stay here again but just order food in or eat out. If I liked fish, there was a variety of otions available, so this may interest other travellers.
The lack of vegetarian options on the menu. When I finally managed to agree that the would make me a sandwich one of the slices of bread was stale. It was clearly the end slice in the loaf whcih had gone a little hard.
Good location, charm and history together with a comfortable room make this hotel a good choice when visiting Birmingham.
Great location for City Centre access. Most of the staff were multi-taskers and very helpful. The old original part of the hotel was characterful and comfortable. Plenty of free parking
I had booked a ground floor twin room as I was travelling with my 83 yr old mother who has difficulty with stairs. When we arrived we were told our room was on the ground floor..' just go through the double doors, up the stairs, across the landing, down some steps, round the corner, down the stairs and room 2 is there on the ground floor...'. If we had difficulty we could get our car, drive round to the back of the hotel and wait for a member of staff to open the fire doors, but they would have to lock them again once they'd let us in. We opted to do the trek through the hotel which we had to do each time we left or arrived at the hotel, or used any of the public facilities. Then our room had no ventilation. The window was screwed shut. Given that we were there early July the heat and stuffiness of the room was unbearable so on the 2nd night we had to ask for someone to open the window for us. A very helpful member of staff (who we had just seen serving in the bar) came to see if he could force the window open. He couldn't so he went in search of one of the hotel's fans. A few minutes later he appeared saying they were all in use so he was going to go out to the shops to try to buy one for us! Half an hour later (8.30pm) he arrived with the last fan off the shelf at Tesco. We were so grateful...at least we felt we might be able to sleep...So be warned. If you need to book a room which involves NO STAIRS and OXYGEN make sure you have doubled checked with reservations that you are not in Room 2.....!
