Great located near the Castle. A room with Castle view is a room with real full view of the Castle!

Good foyer and good attention from staff Food I.E. breakfast was very poor - cold, no milk, poor coffee, etc. lot of dirt around the place. probably too few staff to keep place clean and to provide a proper service in restaurant bed and pillows poor enough

The location and the staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were a bit run down, could do with a proper clean and paint.

As it was our Wedding Anniversary the staff very generously upgraded our room to a suite (Thankyou it was amazing!). The view from our room was fantastic, over looking the town houses with a clear view of Edinburgh Castle, again amazing! We found the staff to be corteous, firendly and informative at all times, nothing was too much trouble for them. All in all The Point Hotel made our trip to Edinburgh one to remember, and if we where to return to the city we would definitly say again. Thanks for a great weekend!

The bed was clean and the pillows were heaven. The room smelled musty. There were black mould marks around the bath. The carpet felt as though it needed cleaned. I have stayed in hotels in nearly every city in the uk because of my work, but have never been given ear plugs! Unsure whether to use them or not in case of fire alarms, I decided against it. Bad move; the shouting, screaming, swearing & police sirens outside had me up four times during the night. Never again would I stay in this hotel. Also I was told the rooftop bar is only open on the last Thursday of every month?? This was one of the reasons I booked this hotel, but was unable to use it !

Contemporary design of the hotel is very impressive. Cool bar with jazz singer on Friday night. We had some bar food and a drink there Saturday evening - nice relaxed vibe. Breakfast good. Staff extremely helpful & knowledgeable regarding the local area. Perfect central location. Cold tap could not be turned in bath by us or the duty manager however he did say we could move in to another room but we were fine as there was also a shower. The water in the shower turned hot & cold a lot though. Also, the hair dryer in the room kept overheating and we got a freestanding one from housekeeping which was fine. Small complaints that were well looked after by the staff. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

My husband and I travel a great deal. The Point hotel fitted our requirments but we were awkened at 2 45 A.M.to other guests next to our room, obviously worse of drink shouting their farewells to each other, and taking their time to go in to their room ,doors were banged closed but then a few minutes later someone who was late started knocking on the door and eventually was allowed in.I Did open my door and told them to be quiet,Why cannot be like Premier inns and have notices in the lifts for late comers to have a little thought for other guests, needless to say that was us awake till morning.Even the night porter could ask these late comers to be quiet.Another point the bath and shower. Instructions as how to use would be a benefit and ask the chambermaids not to leave the shower point on this avoiding a blast of cold water on your head, when trying to figure out how it works

The location is excellent and the view of the castle from my superior room was great. The Point was once a leading design hotel, however it is now in need of the planned renovation works that are due to take place to bring it up to date.

Smooth and easy check-in with friendly staff. Big (standard double) room, which was clean and spacious. Industrial grey decor of corridor - would recommend change of colour scheme at the very least - which is dated and reminiscent of the Eastern Bloc; my companion called it "municipal". Housekeeping trolleys left around, even after 3 in the afternoon, and piles of dirty laundry in the corridor. This is fine, and expected, before check-in time, but not any later - looks inefficient and slatternly.

We thought reception staff very polite, friendly and helpful on checking in and out. Our room had a castle view, plus it was very clean and loved the super king bed. Breakfast had just about everything you could want, only with it extented until 11am which is good only no bacon left! On the whole value for money, probably would stay again. Only dislike the location, amongst too many late night pubs and clubs.

We had a good tay in the Point Hotel. While I have no major complaints the room was much more basic than I expected. The entrance hall looked really nice but once you got out of the lift the building looked very basic and really needs updating. I didn't feel the pictures on the site reflected what the rooms actually looked like at all.

We have stayed at the Point Hotel before and highly recommed it. The views from the rooms (overlooking the castle) are spectacular in the evening and gorgeous when coming home in the early hours of the morning. It is conveniently located with parking facilities at a nearby car park. Would stay here again.

The bar staff were friendly. Good sized bathroom. The comfort of the bed left much to be desired; the slackness of cleaning staff to service the rooms; lack of on-site parking facilities (a parking station a block away requiring payment is inconvenient)

Convient for the castle and city centre. Staff very friendly and room service excellent.Breakfast needs to be improved in general, hot food not always as hot as it should be. The ear plugs on the bedside were not an encouraging sign. The noise on my last night/early hours ruined my stay. If this had happened on my first night I would have moved hotel.

The Price was suitable and the Reception Staff were very helpful however the bar staff were not customer friendly or had any sense of urgency in serving staff. I would visit the Hotel again and enjoyed my stay at the Hotel and in the City. One of the Bar Staff was unfriendly and had no sense of urgency

For the money, they have to be kidding. Duct tape holding carpet together in the hallway, piles of dirty sheets and towels thrown in a pile and left all day long in the hallway. No internet in the room. The best part was the friendly bartenders in the restaurant where you had to sit for internet access.

Good value, friendly & helpful staff, bar lively and restaurant welcoming. Great location at good price through Booking.com. Overnight Parking only £5 if out by 0900. Really nice staff. Room rather spartan, cold when we arrived and noisy - thin walls & doors slamming endlessly. Soviet style decor in corridors & a bit scruffy. Local parking pricey unless out by 0900 and not available during office hours.

Convienient and cheap. I suggest the top floor option with the castle view, deffinately worth it. Missed my wake-up call. I had 3 other alarms set so it didn't stop me from waking up, but it bugs me that they didn't call.

The food in the restuarant was excellent & dinner a very pleasant experience. The location of the Point Hotel was excellent for the event we were attendingin edinburgh. Room was large with very high ceilings as you would expect from this building. However, the lighting in the room did not all work making it very dull & depressing with the dark colour scheme. The bathroom fittings were chipped and damaged making the bathroom look less than clean. The hotel was very noisy both from outside noise (pubs & roads) and also inside with guests arriving back throughout the night - sound proofing between rooms was almost non existent!
