Great located near the Castle. A room with Castle view is a room with real full view of the Castle!

Excellent location also very comfortable and sizable room which was spotlessly clean and well serviced daily. When we come back to visit Edinburgh we would not hesitate to book The Point Hotel again for our next stay.

i found the staff to be extremely friendly and welcoming. they were very approachable and helpful with regards to directions and bus routes, numbers and times to get to various places. breakfast was great, very laid back and good selection of both hot and cold food. delicious! self service also great idea as no waiting and can help yourself to as little or as much as you want at your own leisure. the bar was again very relaxed, laid back and informal. staff friendly. good atmosphere and somewhere you could comfortably go as a solo traveller and not feel intimidated. good food at reasonable prices in comfortable surroundings, couldnt ask for more! good location also.

Very convenient to Edinburgh Castle, Grassmarket and the Royal Mile. Staff were friendly and helpful Light globe had blown in my room - surely it's not asking too much to ask cleaning staff to check these things when doing the rooms? Also the toilet was broken in the first room. The reception staff tried to fix it for me (very embarrassing having to ask them to do this after using the toilet and not being able to flush) but were unsuccessful and I had to be relocated. Also first room had large picture windows and no way of making the room private from the street without shutting the black out curtains, which was a shame as I'd have enjoyed looking out. Second room was ok.

The restaurant was pleasant and breakfast very enjoyable. The wifi was a plus. The Point is showing its age and while the bed was comfortable and clean, the bathroom lacked soap, the toilet seat was falling off, the shower curtain needed replacing - it was mouldy and smelly, and the shower ran hot and cold.

The staff were very friendly and helpful The standard of our so called superior room did not live up to expectations, starting to look shabby and poorly furnished. He standard of food was poor and we complained about the standard of our evening meal. The breakfast was edible!! There did not appear to be anyone in charge and the hot buffet did not look or taste appetisin and was not hot, definitely not worth £13.95

I liked the location The room we were in needed a re-paint as did the bathroom. Generally very dated, the window frames were dirty- needed painting. The carpet was dirty. The remote control was temperamental. The toilet flush made a loud noise every time it was used. The room did not look like the rooms on their website. Definitely too expensive for the quality of accommodation

great location, close to the Castle, got a good deal on price make sure you ask for a room not facing the main street or on a higher level. we got a room on the 1st floor with a huge window facong the main street which meant noise and not really being able to open the curtains since it would be as being in a shopping window. they do give you free earplugs in the room though. wi fi only free in the lobby area and didn't really work anyway. lightning in the room not very good - no big light.

Great location and good value. The superior room with castle view is very nice. The hotel is old, durty and noisy! The ordinary twin/double room looks like you're in a cheep motel! - try to avoid it!

Food was good. Friendly and efficient staff. Location good for Castle and main central area. Hotel room was very dark needed lights on in day time. Not a big problem as we were out most of the day.

It was at a good location, and the price was verry competitive, even during a busy touristic weekend. We liked being able to leave our luggages the next day before our departure. Bathroom was fine. The room smelt of cigarets, and was very poorly lit. The wall was painted in a not-really-happy grey which prompted us to go out asap. Instead of putting double glazing, they provide you with ear plugs. Well, it comes with the price. Avoid for a romantic weekend like we did.

great location, just a 5 minutes walk to castle...clean and spacious room, with comfortable bed and pillows..the temperature of the room was fine as we travelled on april 2012 but don't know when winter period, as the heater of the room seems not to be working when we tried it on, it doesn't feel warming, anyway we didn't bother reporting it as the duvet kept us warm ... receptionist- ela is very friendly and helpful there are many affordable restaurants, food shops .. can't find fault in our stay as the price of the room was reasonable
