Near the banks of Loch Ewe in north-western Scotland, the Corriness House bed and breakfast in Poolewe has a 4-star rating from the Scottish Tourist Board.
Score from 96 reviews Fabulous
Built in 1793, this traditional 18th-century farmhouse is located in the pretty village of Gairloch, on the north-west coast of the Highlands of Scotland.
Score from 104 reviews Very good
Mo-Dhachaidh B&B is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the banks of Loch Ewe, in Inverasdale. This charming bed and breakfast offers views of the Torridons, Fisherfields and Sutherland Mountains.
Score from 110 reviews Superb
Situated on the shores of beautiful Loch Ewe and perfectly located for exploring the north-west Highlands.
Score from 136 reviews Very good
This hotel was a nice surprise, great room, very friendly staff and the food was out of this world, full of flavour and a great choice.
Staff and location
Quiet relaxed atmosphere. Food, service and staff all very good
Friendly and helpful staff Good vibe Nice breakfast Biker friendly
Bathroom was a little tired with creaky floor
This was our final night of an 8 day tour around the Highlands and we had been rather spoiled by some of the places we had stayed on previous nights. The Poolewe is a perfectly pleasant B&B on the shores of beautiful and historic Loch Ewe. There is not much other hotel accommodation in the immediate area and it offers comfortable rooms, a nice lounge, friendly staff and tasty pub fare in the bar. Just don't expect the height of luxury.
Location was good with 2 good beaches within 5 miles and the placevwas very peaceful. Hotel had everything you need and did meals in the evening. Just as well as there didn't appear to be much else close by. Excellent breakfasts.
Accomodation felt more basic for money though everything was there and the place was a little tired in the decoration department but it's all about the location!
It was easy to find & situated in a stunning location. The rooms were comfortable although rather small. The staff were friendly & the food was very nice.
On arrival it was hard to find anyone. The service was erratic, although friendly. Communication was sometimes difficult with staff. There needs to be more efficiency in this area. The ensuite shower door was faulty.
Brilliant breakfast menu. Ideal place to explore the beautiful surroundings, lots of good walks.
The beautiful location - very handy for visiting Inverewe Gardens and the country around is spectacular.
There was not a female staff member in sight - and the impression that these guests got was one of males coping manfully.
View location good parking wi fi. Nice bed linens
Nobody came to desk at check in or check out when I rang bell .. I had to search for someone. Room cobwebs, dusty woodwork, stinking bathroom carpet, dirty mouldy shower, shower door came off in my hand. This could be a terrific hotel with the right manager and an efficient cleaner
Lovely crisp linen, great facilities, everything provided you could need.
Nothing to dislike.
Location to die for.
Size of room and toilet facilities tiny. You actually hit your head on the shower frame when seated on the toilet seat. Lighting was inadequate and when the staff were informed of faulty light they explained that they knew of problem and actually knew what the caused the problem but were awaiting an electrician. Maintenance should be better.!
Location Staff Food Room Dog friendly
We were lucky to get a room as everywhere was booked up, but felt this was over priced because of the season. the manager was very helpful and kind and we appreciated his help, but did feel the hotel needed a brush-up
room was very small, mattress was uncomfortable for my husband so he didn't sleep well. breakfast was not very inspiring and the waiter clearly wished he was elsewhere!
The hotel, location, food and service were all excellent! Thank you for a lovely, long weekend.
Nice location Excellent food Main hotel areas modern and fresh Good hot water from shower Good parking Staff very helpful
Room small and dated needs a make over Bathroom needs redesign as could achieve more with good make over Bed not very comfortable Little storage space for clothes
The location is excellent with beautiful views of Loch Ewe.The historical reference to the Artic convoys are very relevant.Inverewe gardens are within walking distance with its varied plant varieyies. The are is warm due to the gulf stream.Sitting out getting sunburnt at 6pm at end of August is unheard of in Scotland.Easy travelling to nearby Gairloch and Loch Maree.Very scenic drive to Ullapool with view over Little Loch Broom,Loch Broom,Ullapool and the Atlantic all in one picture frame is exceptional
liked it all.
The rooms are well situated and quiet for a good rest after a beautiful day in the nature of Poolewe
The breakfast time (0800 hrs) is too late if you want to get the bus. The only bus in the morning is leaving at 8.05 hrs.It must be possible to have breakfast at 0700 hrs am. Also to have mountain trails and walks around Poolewe it is demandable.
very kind and very good location. During the journey to the hotel, you can see very beautiful places of high land..
Good food and comfortable room.
Bathroom had bath but no shower (even on the bath).
european man that was on reception when we arrived was most helpful
the young man who served us at dinner next to the lounge could do with a bit more training, ie his response of " cool " to whenever we ordered anything a bit off putting, a quiet word in his ear would not go amiss, oh and a tidy up of his dress sense.
Location, evening meal and breakfast, bar.
The food was really excellent and the staff were helpful and efficient and really friendly. The room had everything you needed.
Nice Location, easy to find
Verry small room, and even smaller bathroom. Breakfest room and sitting room was cold, no heating by outside temp 12.
Nice quiet place Large rooms
Restaurant - everything takes long time to do Breakfast - poor choice of different foods Internet - poor coverage, work just in reception
