Tremendous welcome / great staff and fabulous breakfast
Bed a bit hard
Pleasant staff at breakfast and welcoming proprietors. Good location - on main street of Callander and 25minute drive to Balquidder.
Small, nice and comfortable place to stay and dine
no wifi in the rooms and poor connection even downstairs
Within short walk of town centre. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Staff were very friendly. Accepts dogs.
Staff helpful and very comfortable surroundings
Need still to work on bathroom small amount of mould but nothing that woul cost too much to rectify
Friendly staff Excellent food Good location
Low ceiling in bedroom Need to mind your head.
The staff are what makes this a wonderful place to stay. The food was also excellent
Iron in the room was not clean and left old burn marks on a shirt.
Good clean accommodation in a very good location for travelling. Friendly staff and a lovely breakfast.
We liked everything
Food was excellent. Whiskey bar impressive. Staff friendly.
Wonderful stay at Poppies, the owners and their staff are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Though the hotel is on the main road, we heard no traffic noise which led to a few great nights sleep.
Pleasant staff and nice refurbishment.
Shame we couldn't have the dog in the bar
Great stop off point on way to highlands and back.
Poppies sign outside too small to see when driving past. Missed it twice.
A bit too near the road
we thought the hotel wasgood food breakfast was very good
when we got there management had no proof of our booking so had to wait till he sorted it out wanted us just to stay one night but we had booked for weekend as we were up to go to concert in Falkirk so he did at finish up let us stay weekend came back from concert to be locked out had to knock n knock to get in that was the downfall of the whole weekend
Friendly proprietors, excellent food. Good situation (on main road, but slightly out of town and opposite park). The dog was made welcome, but only in standard rooms. We were lucky that the weather was excellent and so able to have our evening meal outside, having the dog with us. An excellent spot for a few days in the Trossachs, and would come again
it was all good. It would have been nice to have been able to take the dog in the bar, but can understand why not
The room was lovely, large had a nice seating area and lovely big bathroom with excellent shower. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Breakfast was again excellent value for money and hot items were cooked fresh. There was a good choice. There was adequate parking at the front of the Hotel.
The food! - Fantastic! Worth a return trip for this alone. Also do a great breakfast along with the nice friendly staff.
I guess price which was just on the upside for a small family hotel with limited facilities.
My mum and myself stayed at Poppies Hotel whilst walking the Rob Roy Way. The beds were very comfortable and breakfast of a high standard. Good location in Callandar and easy to find which is a bonus after a day's walking.
Twin room seemed more like a single room with two beds shoved into it. No space in-between the beds as there was such a limited amount of room. Bathroom so tiny it was like a cupboard and not exactly as clean as we would have liked. Our most expensive night's accommodation whilst walking the Rob Roy Way and if I was honest, the worst. Pretty disappointing and not great value for money.
a lovely relaxing and friendly place to stay and would recommend it to all
nothing at all
The bar seemed to close early in the evening so wasn't available for a night cap
We had room 1 on the top floor which was great and very spacious with lovely views. We stayed for 2 nights as part of a group of 8. The dining room and bar area are lovely. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel, both of which were great, and Susan served us in the bar until after midnight which was much appreciated. Parking at the hotel was also really useful.
It took a little while to get checked in and checked out but I think this is because it is a family run business that doesn't have lots of staff. It wasn't a problem. Some of the rooms are different in size but still the same price which we only noticed because of the size of our party.
Room was spacious and clean, very light with views from windows. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Good location, pleasant staff. The option of an early evening meal at a special price was a bonus.
Cheery welcome pleasant table service efficient organisation
