Staff were very warm and friendly The history of the Porch House was extremely interesting Breakfast was first class
Bathroom whilst very clean with good quality fittings was small and had no bath which was disappointing for a suite
The hosts are new to this property & were "feeling their way", but were welcoming, informative & keen to please. The combination of house/room character & modern facilities was impressive. We particularly liked the en-suite in the King Room. We wish Charles & Christine well in their new venture.
Our hosts at the porch house were fantastic, their attention to detail and their warm welcome and added extras certainly made our stay truly memorable and one we shall never forget, defiantly will stay there again From the quaint old style house with its modern facilities and extremely comfy bed and home cooked breakfast to order made for an exceptional stay
The hosts and the facilities were excellent The breakfast was superb quality ingredients and weep cooked
A very minor thing as the house is located on the high street there is a lot of traffic noise in the bedrooms at the front
Room overlooked back garden very quiet. Glenn & Joanna were perfect hosts. Full English breakfast was perfect!
No complaints. Appreciated the off street parking as well
Porch House is very well situated, comfortable and welcoming.
WiFi not good enough in my room to connect reliably.
I was made to feel very welcome and as I had to leave early a fulsome breakfast tray was provided. Great location and lovely old building with an interesting story.
From the start of our visit Joanna & Glynn ensured we had everything we wanted ...even to booking a table for our evening meal. The room was well decorated and furnished and every comfort thought out
Not being able to book for a weekend in December ...... No criticism regarding Porch House , proprietors or the breakfast ...
Comfortable room, good breakfast, and helpful and attentive owners
The king size bed
Comfortable, exceptionally clean, good breakfast, so conveniently placed for the town, friendly, non-intrusive hosts - great to have wifi readily available -- everything I needed.
Most comfortable bed ever
Superb could not fault it.
Excellent breakfast and en suite bathroom. Historic connection with Charles 1st
Front bedroom faces main road with heavy traffic noise and people on a Saturday night. Very hot weather. Windows could not be opened. Stifling, (a fan would have helped) and difficult to sleep.
Beautifully decorated, immaculate rooms with every facility Very friendly, professional owners
the four poster bed and the breakfast.......excellent
relaxed and comfortable accomodation. Friendly helpful owners
Extremely comfortable bed and very good shower room, charming and nicely furnished house, well decorated bedroom nice quality sheets. Incredibly historic house and elegant guest lounge full of books about the area plus sherry for you to help yourself if you wished. (We did not)
I felt the price was a little too high for what was offered - the back garden was not well tended and the marmalade at breakfast , though good, was not home made as advertised. We weren't offered a welcome cup of tea and cake on arrival. These things wouldn't matter if it had been a bit cheaper but if charging premium prices then details matter I feel.
very well appointed room, bed was superb. Joanna and Glynn very friendly and breakfast was excellent. Would certainly stay here again.
Nothing to dislike
The owners and staff. Position in high street. The history of the building. The house itself is very interesting. The four poster bed and mattress. The breakfast and lots of little final touches. The cleanliness and the choice of decor.
The shower room was quite small. ( age of house) The dinging of the church bell ( opposite)every hour throughout the night.- ok if a heavy sleeper
Friendly owners Lovely clear room, fantastic breakfast. Parking available.
There was nothing to dislike.
very friendly couple made us very welcome loved the idea of one large table for got to know other guest comfortable room lovely setting bit of history about house made you feel special to stay there
This is a beautiful old house in centre of town, and so comfortable! Perfect stop en route Scotland
A little noisy in front room as on main street, but nothing serious...They do have quiet rooms if you book early..
The pillows! I slept like a log which is surprising considering we took a 3-month old baby with us! Fascinating history to the gorgeous building. Private car park was great. Just as we were leaving the lovely lady came rushing out with a jumper we had left behind. So kind!
If I had to say one negative it's that the bathroom was pretty small (but perfectly formed!)
Just a perfect weekend break the porch house was very accomadating the owners so friendly and helpfull well worth a visit
