Port Gaverne Hotel  

The room was very comfortable, and attractive. There is a pleasant sitting room as well as a terrace for sitting outside. The hotel is situated in a charming, quiet location.

Nothing, personally, though my friend was in a room above the bar, which was quite noisy in the evening. Fortunately it didn't continue until late.

A wonderful location almost on the beach. Very friendly staff and good food. A marvellous old building with a lively pub bar that was warmed by an open fire. It was frequented by locals and guests though the noise could not be heard from our room. It was an atmosphere that encouraged people to talk. We could have eaten in the restaurant area but chose to eat in the pub. We could choose from either restaurant or pub menu, and we much preferred the atmosphere. Our room was very comfortable and had an excellent walk-in shower. Stayed 4 nights and were sorry to leave.

Its location. Friendly staff. Good food. Ideal setting close to the sea. Great walk into Port Isaac. Loved it all.

the hotel was very lovely and clean. close to Port Isaac. the meals were very nice and the staff very friendly. this motel was the easy place to access Port Isaac.

price was a bit high for stay , if it was not for Doc Martin programme the price may be lower.

A cold draft blowing through a wooden partition at the head of the bed giving a stiff neck, No refund was asked for, but a dismissive response when Management was informed

The location, friendly helpful staff, food very good. Dog friendly, very important for us as we take dog. Locals friendly, helpful.

I need more stamina to go up and down the stairs, I felt they were quite steep. Probably fine for younger fitter travellers.

Food was good

Weather was very cold and heating in hotel came on automatically after 4 P.M. which was too late. Restaurant was cold so we ate in bar which was warm but full of dogs every night. My husband caught a chill because of cold and we had to curtail our stay and left 2 days early. We had to pay for the full 6 days with no refund which was harsh but that is down to Booking.com and not the hotel which would have made an adjustment for us.. The bedroom was basic with no seating area.

Room was lovely and very clean. Food was great and for mixed budgets. Staff were attentive and helpful but not pushy. Quiet location. Great for walking, views and relaxation.

No phone signal (vodaphone) but understandable.

A comfortable inn / hotel with good food. A very atmosheric and well customised bar and a very pleasant restaurant. The location is excellent being only 50 metres from an unspoilt bay. The headlands provide plenty of walking country with superb views.

The bedroom allocated to my wife and I was comfortable and clean but ALL its windows looked out onto brick walls. Certainly not a 'room with a view'.

Lovely setting and location. Staff were helpful and the locals in the pub were very friendly (including the dogs in the bar).

No shower in the room, just a bath.

This is a quintessential 'little' Cornish Hotel, few have survived the ravages of recession and poor summers, but this is well run. It has a fabulous location close to Port Isaac, but away from the 'trippers' that you tend to get there. The staff are lovely and the management could not be more helpful. Walks from here are endless and varied, if you like the rugged Cornish coast this is a 'must'.

The downstairs bar has a pub type atmosphere and you have to realise tht it can be a litle noisy if you want to go to bed before 11 oclock. For my daughter and I - this was no problem and we enjoyed the conviviality in the evenings.

I thought the hotel was charming and in a beautiful, quiet location. The breakfasts were very good and the restaurant was tastefully decorated.

I was born in England, but now live in Australia and have been widely travelled the Port Gaverne Hotel has got to be the best hotel I have stayed in. The staff, location and atmosphere were second to none, other hotel/inn operators need to stay here to see how it should be done. 10 out of 10 Port Gaverne Hotel.

Setting of the hotel is lovely, as are the rooms, and food-dinner and breakfast is excellent. Will certainly go again.

The location is very pleasant, the staff was most friendly, helpful and efficient, the bed ecxellent, the Port Isaac Bay grilled lobster was perfect.

We were given a nice room with seaview but just above the bar which was quite noisy, and we expressed our concern as the acoustic insulation was non-existant, the manager showed us other rooms, but he said that the bar would close at 10:30 pm, so we kept the seaview room and the noise from the bar stopped at 10.00 pm.
