We had an upgraded seaview room that had wonderful views as did the sunlounge. The bar had great food. My daughter had a single room at the top of the hotel that had great views but needed a bit of updating! |

The hotel staff were some of the best that we have ever encountered. They were polite, friendly, efficient and always cheerful. Those we spoke to were clearly very happy working at the hotel, always a good sign. Food was of a very high standard. |

Beautiful position - Friendly staff - convenient for Eden Project & Heligan Gardens Evening menu was not good. Cooking left much to be desired -either too rich or too plain. Good ingredients but poorly used. New chef needed.Other guests also complaining. |

We loved the views. Breathtaking! Staff friendly and helpful. Owner very approachable and helpful too. Breakfast very good -although staff could have been quicker to replenish the buffet table. Bistro food a bit expensive |

It was comfortable, clean, and in a good location for surrounding areas. The cost as charged did not match the tarrif for the room. The room was not to the standard as the cost reflected. |

Very comfortable and friedly with goo service Being on the ground floor next to reception. The view was still FAB but being woken up at 5/6 am by early staff arriving was irritating. |

The views are stunning and there are lovely walks close by. The food was very good if quite costly. Our room was quite tired and whilst listed as having a seaview, the best view was from the bathroom. At night it was noisy with fire doors banging as guests headed back late to their rooms. The room (superior)was extremely expensive for the condition of it. |

We really enjoyed our stay at the Porth Avellen. The staff made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would love to make a return visit. We booked a standard room and was shown to room 27. The room smelled and didn't have enough floor space to accommodate our luggage. The view from this room was appaling, we were looking out on a dirty old roof. We enquired about moving to another room and was immediately given room 3 which was excellent although we paid more for it. If no other room had been available our holiday would have been spoiled. |

Very customer focussed - nothing was too much trouble. Excellent menu and choice of brasserie or restaurant. Decor was rather dated in the bedroom and bedroom was cold on arrival so had to request extra heating. This was dealt with immediately however. |

The staff and the view's from the hotel were fantastic Room we stayed in (29) smelt of damp, would only give 3 out of 10 for the cold and over cooked breakfast, and the lovely bar with fantastic views- was bar and bolted at 23:00 which we found very poor, food looked lovely but was way over priced so we went out to a local restaurant. |
