The food was very good and presented in an attractive way. They even took the trouble to arrange breakfast fry-ups in an artistic way. Bar and restaurant are both atmospheric and pleasant places to eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The scenery is quite spectacular. If you don't specify sea-view when booking, you will see virtually nothing of the sea from your room - possibly just a wall or the car- park. Partial sea-view is really trees and a sliver of water.

Ideal position, very helpfull staff, food excellent in Brassier, also for breakfast there was very good, choice, cooked breakfast was excellent (not greasy), The bedroom was of good size. Bathroom & shower, perfect. T.V. & tea/coffee available. No complaints at all. The only minor niggle was, The orange lights on the front car park, shone into our bedroom thro the curtains, all night. I suggest they are put on to a timer device to switch off @ 23-00hrs

Wonderful location. Public rooms have a superb view over St Austell Bay. Good standard of cooking without being gourmet. Comfortable room kept very clean. Didn't feel very welcome. Staff seemed more interested in other things even though the place was pretty empty. Wasn't shown to my room and therefore didn't find the switch for the extractor fan until the 2nd day. Little pots of Golden Shred marmalade and packets of butter spoilt the breakfast - not a good economy when the cooked food was very freshly made to order.

It is well worth the extra for a sea view room (ie upgrading from a standard room) - We had a wonderful uninterupted panoramic view over St.Austell Bay, which was truly amazing. Book dinner in the restaurant - as part of the booked package (£25 per person) it is a considerable saving on booking "on the night". Food was excellent and well presented. It's worth checking that messages etc have been passed on from one day to the next. On the first morning housekeeping missed our room, we received no newspaper on the middle day, and one morning when I checked, it transpired that they had not booked us a table for the evening. Generally, the views and overall standards of the hotel by far outweigh any minor administration oversights we experienced, and I would certainly recommend the hotel, and stay again myself

Wonderful view from the bay window in our room.very well appointed bedroom. It would be a good idea to have a table for the kettle when making tea , as it s not easy on the floor. Hair dryer in bathroom was defective , but there was an alternative in the drawer.no power point in bathroom for an electric toothbrush.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Good sea views from the bar and restaurant, and right on the coast path, 5 min.s from Charlestown. The single room seemed like an afterthought to the main hotel. Car access to the hotel was a bit tedious.

Chose it for the fact that it was near the sea and also near the Eden Project. Did not expect a view of the sea from my room, and pleasantly surprised that it did have a a side view in spite of it not stated when I booked.

“Everything about the hotel was excellent. The pool was a real treat and the coffee was excellent. The staff could not have been politer or more helpful. I have already recommended it to friends. Unfortunately we hadn't realised how popular the bistro was so we couldn't get a table so next time we will book in advance.” Geoff, Exter |
