It had all the usual hostel stuff that enables you to relax and do your own thing i.e. well equipped kitchen, dining and living area We had an en-suite double room and the shower dripped constantly and did not heat up.

Nothing Waited by the reception for half an hour and no one came, asked some people who walked passed and they grunted and continued on there way. After about 40 minutes the manager turned up and said that will £35 which would be fine other than I had already contacted the lodge and paid over the phone. In which he said he didn'T. So I asked him to give me a minute to check my bank statement online. And on saying this he said 'no cannot do that, get out of house it I will get you out' so we were shoved out of the door and then heard the doors locked behind us. Very very poor place! Pay an extra £10 to stay somewhere else it is not worth it

The building was really quite beautiful and the facilities were old industrial in a very useful way. I thought my room was although small and at the front of house, was perfectly passable for size. WE DID GET very good internet. Despite this my room was very unclean. As we checked in later in the day I didn't feel like the owner/ or manager on duty was that available. I know its a two star place but really? I was looking forward to such a late booking experience in a place that sounded really cool. This time that didn't happen.

I expected little and I got little. I think the reviews are too harsh. The receptionist was kind and helpful. The hostel is very old, but clean. The parking outside is very practical. I only had to go to Portsmouth for a concert so needed something cheap and easy for 1 night only. The communal lounge could definitely do with some redecorating. Pool table had holes everywhere and the sofas armchairs in the room - well, they need to be changed.

This place is a slum. There are dss people clearly living here longer term. The place has a stench smell, leaking shower, toilet not flushing. The room was supposed to be a female dorm but a male stranger walked straight into the unlocked dorm. Security is bad here with dorms being left unlocked with personal belongings inside. I immediately left and did not sleep here checking into a boutique hotel immediately. I was not safe here as there were winos everywhere in the hostel. It is not safe for lone travellers. I would not leave my dog here for one night. It needs to be closed down. I hated everything. The smell and the slime and grime of the place was unacceptable. The carpet was rotten. This is a thieves paradise as the dorms were unlocked with personal belongings. I am digusted thatr booking.com recommend this place. You should cut your ties with this place. I immediately sent a letter of complaint about this slum.

Heating was on quite often so it was very comfortable temperature wise. Big window in the dorm so it does not feel claustrophobic like some hostel rooms. Mattress was very comfortable Ben linen was spotless You get a pin number to get in the front door so you know its safe and you can have your independence 24/7 Sitting area was cool, plenty comfy couch's, a pool table, and hard tables to study / eat etc. Good place to hang out and meet people. I liked that there was a sink and toilet in the room so you didn't have to go far, especially great during the night. Always hot water in the taps Walking distance from seaside and bus stop to city The main bathroom electric shower was dodge and the tiles were suffering from mold development, but there was another shower in the the dorm which was fine

If I could give this place a zero I would. I can easily say that this was without doubt, the worst place I have ever stayed in my entire life. My husband and I, a young Australian couple, have been travelling in Europe for six months or so and this definitely takes the cake as the worst place by a long mile! Between the two if us we have managed to stay in some fairly dodgy establishments over the years but the place was so disgusting I feared for our health! Firstly, the woman at reception (I can't bring myself to call her a receptionist, wearing slothy track suit with absolutely no idea what she was doing) "couldn't find" our reservation, accused us us of making the whole reservation up. Grudgingly she accepted that we had reserved after we showed her the reservation and she mouthed off about booking.com. We were off put already! Then she flung a key at us and said we were at the very top. It was a long, dirty trip to the top. The walls have years of grime, the carpet has never ever seen a vacuum, I've no idea of the original carpet colour as it was black with dirt and grime, in one place it appears that some poor unfortunate has vomited on the carpet and nobody bothered to clean it. The stench was unbearable. Our room was tiny and ice cold. I could not even stand up in the room the roof was so low. The carpet was filthy and the walls as well. I couldn't even bring myself to put the suitcase on the floor for fear of rats or cockroaches! The beds were atrocious, one sinking to the point I was in fact touching the floor with my back, one that you were simply lying on the hard wooden slats. The bathrooms were more mould than tile, the shower head struggled to put out any water through it's years of accumulated plaque, three drizzles of water was all. Of freezing cold water. The kitchen stank like burnt oil and off meat.

The location of the hotel is ok even if not necessarely in the city center. But witihn a reasonnable wallking distance. Room (#6) is a patchwork of wall construction & wall paper. The shower joints are full of bacterias (black joints). Not to mention that the knob is broken & liked all night long. Got bitten at least 40 to 50 times by bed bugs... Need a thorough cleaning Had a look to the shared bathroom on my floor... Not advisable. You would only go there because it is kind of cheap (you have to pay up front upon arrival). No picture of the rooms to have an idea.

It was reasonably priced, very close to seaside ameneties, and the staff were very friendly and obliging. The whole interior of the place was depressing, it badly needed a fresh coat of paint and redecoration, the room we stayed in was dark and dingy, and the en suite was a bit of a joke, if you were any bigger than a size 16, it would be very uncomfortable to use or move around in.

Nothing, there was literally nothing to like. Staff were rude and unhelpful. The room was filthy dirty which we should have guessed when we were greeted with a "cockroach cemetry" on the main entrance to the lodge. We paid extra for en-suite which consisted of a flooded, filthy floor and a shower with only ice cold running water. I was scared to use the shower anyway because of the risk of catig something from it. I didn't expect anything posh but I did expect that the floor would have been hoovered, the window ledges wiped once in a while and the shower and toilet relatively clean- non of this was the case. The place is a HEALTH HAZARD and I would never ever recommend this plac to anybody!

the hostel offers a quick access to the gardens along the beaches. The front sea of Porthmouth is very beautiful and offers a great opportunity for people to relax walk or go swimming. Moreover there is a lot of attractions and fun for children and their family. the corridors and the stairs of the hostel are not ventilated at all, the old carpet is smelly and looks dirty, the shower at the first floor is cold and the twin room where I slept has a window which is a fire escape with a permanent green light that is very uncomfortable during the night. Morevover the big crack in the roof is fixed with a tape!!!!!.... The only thing I appreciated is the kitchen very clean and tidy.

Kitchen and lounge facilities dated but functional. Room is in serious need of overhaul or demolition. Bed appeared to be previously slept in and very uncomfortable. Carpet stained and threadbare. Bathrooms have mildew in showers and a general appearance of not being cared for (wall surfaces peeling off DIY work). Some showers had no hot water. Locks fell off one toilet door leaving one lady trapped inside. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless absolutely necessary.

Nothing All of the staff except for one gentleman (the housekeeper) were rude and unaccommodating. I will never stay here again. They are very unclear about the payment, storage facilities and safety arent paramount at all. Dust, old food on tables for days and substandard lighting and cleanliness are some things you will encounter

It was too hot and stuffy upstairs. Our room was on the last floor of the hostel and it was like being in the attic. There was no fresh air. And the bathroom was a little too far away from the room. The "hot" shower didn't work well in the evening but I didn't mind the water being frizzing cold^^ as it was so hot in the room and on the last floor. Apart from that, the room was comfy and really clean.

The location, close to Southsea Centre and shops, close to the seaside. No wardrobe,no hangers, just broken bunk beds,a sink and a bin.The doors would need oiling, something had an awful creaky noise, woke me up many times. The bedding has an awful colour, kind of brownish, looks dirty no matter if it is washed or not. Check in is possible from 14.00, we arrived there at 13.50 and were not allowed in the room. Apart from the check in time I didnt see the receptionist at all, the toilet didnt flush in the morning and hours later it was still dirty. The shower looks dirty though had nice hot water. Even if it is cheap accomodation it should be clean.Wouldnt go there again.
