Everything! It was clean, efficient and friendly. As a lone female traveller it was really nice to find myself in an Inn with good facilities, friendly staff and nice locals. Food was great, breakfast was the best I've had in any hotel or B&B for a long time. Loved learning the history of the slightly unexpected horse skull in the floor. Should be 5*. I
The fact that I was only there for one night and couldn't properly enjoy the Inn and it's fantastic location (I will put this right)!
We were met with a warm, friendly welcome after a long drive, with the great service always on hand throughout. Although the hotel is a little dated, the rooms are comfortable and very clean (complete with sloping floors and ceilings) and the food is very good, including breakfast. The hotel isn't really close to any local conveniences, but this shouldn't put you off for a 1 or 2 night stopover in this lovely location.
Dated decor, but not a real issue as value for money.
Brilliant staff very friendly. Food good
Bedroom clean but a bit dated. Door to bedroom and door to bathroom didn't match, bathroom a little strange with towel rail above toilet etc
It is easy to find and has a lovely welcoming bar with cosy fire and two separate lounge area. The meals a lovely with some excellent specials. The rooms are modern furnished and a decent size. The WiFi works well and lovely tea/coffee and biscuits in the room. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was really really nice.
It is a bit out of town but excellent for an overnight stop.
Great Staff, great building and location. A welcome change for the hotels with no character. I will be back.
No hot water or heating on the first night but this was resolved the next day. Shower was a hit and miss if water was going to come out or not. Mind your head on the beams if you are not in the main building.
The welcome, the staff and the room itself.
Noisy as we were above restaurant and we needed an early night, then all was quiet quite suddenly at around 11 p.m.We had to leave early so we could not have breakfast but still charged for it.
The hotel was friendly and the staff welcoming. The food was excellent.
The bedroom, while comfortable, really needed a makeover. Decoration looked like DIY with cheap badly fitting doors.
Lovely people very friendly and willing to help Room was good nice with large bathroom Very close to Hereford for shopping and lots of places to eat Evening food was very good quality and very good amount for the money well presented Breakfast was very enjoyable and good quality good amount
Hereford was very busy on Saturday in center
From start to finish this was an excellent one night stay, staff and owner really friendly and welcoming, The quality of the food for the evening was wonderful, great choice. Breakfast amazing, very clean and tidy in the room I stayed in. Would definitely stay here again
Good sized room. Comfy bed. Clean room with spotlessly clean en-suite. Countryside view at rear of building. Professional and courteous staff.
Mobile phone reception. Over-sensitive smoke/fire alarm.
Staff great, had evening meal steak was very tasty and being steak night good value. large room shower was also large. pleasant stay
Friendly staff, very helpful in every way. Large room, very clean, sloping floors not a problem, added to authenticity of the age of the Inn.
Nothing to dislike.
Staff friendliness and helpfulness
Uncomfortable bed and a shower mixer tap that was falling off the wall (reported but not fixed).
Atmosphere and character abounds in this heritage building, delightfully restored, The staff are attentive and friendly, the food excellent and the rooms clean and well presented. We highly recommend the Portway Inn. A real gem just ten easy minutes from Hereford.
The place was a pleasant surprise with facilities and accommodation. It is however a stop over as there isn't much around for long stays.
Good location Good rooms Good food Friendly and efficient staff
Nothing, everything was good
Staff and room
The food, the cleanliness, the staff, the parking facilities, the relaxed atmosphere.
The headboard in room 5 was coming away from the wall, the pull switch cord was dirty & needs replacing, the furnishings were good but the lampshades screamed B&Q. Bedroom 5 needs a door to try to mask the sounds from the water tanks in the cupboard marked 'PRIVATE'. The shower height was not adjustable, but looks like it used to be.
Food, staff, quality of rooms, comfort of bed
thin walls, no phone signal, patchy wifi
Well looked after by friendly staff who went out of their way to treat us as honoured guests, not "one-nighters". Thank you to you all!
Friendly staff, reasonably priced
What's not to like!
We had 4 days to the area and enjoyed all of it. We visited a place called the weir. Very good. Would go there again!. Loads of other places were also nice.
The location is amazing. The price is fair. The room is big and clean. Feels homely
I had a few almost sleepless nights before and wanted to have a lie in until the checkout time. Someone knocked on my door at 9 and again at 1055, asking rather rudely how long I was going to be. Spoilt the otherwise good experience
Noisy heating system
