Powdermills is a beautiful hotel set besides a glorious lake. We had a peaceful evening sat outside with a glass of wine.
Patio doors did not lock, dogs mess outside room
We enjoyed the interesting grounds, walking round the beautiful wooded edge of a large lake with ducks and geese, a lovely unspoilt area. We stayed in the pavilion our room had a balcony overlooking the pool, very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was just right with a good choice. Near to Rye,one of the few unspoilt towns in England and Battle steeped in history both worth a visit. All in all a very interesting experience and one I would like to repeat sometime.
Friendly, attentive staff. Beautiful grounds. Attractive, comfortable seating areas inside and out. We had a lovely suite with balcony. Just perfect for a relaxing, "away from it all" break.
The setting is superb with a small lake & various animals wandering freely. My bedroom was quiet, comfortable & included tea/ coffee making equipment. Staff were friendly & professional too. An excellent choice!
The included full breakfast was a little disappointing. The serve-your-self items, (juice, cereal, yoghurt, etc), had a good selection. My negative comment is that my fried eggs were overdone & the fried bread soggy...inexcusable in my opinion. Fried bread is one of my indulgences when in a hotel. That said "The Orangery" restaurant is lovely & the staff excellent.
We loved the tranquil settings, the delious food, attentive staff and the comfortable bedroom. We walked in the grounds and chatted with fellow guests. George the peacock was a wonderful sight! Will be back.
Having to go home!
the grounds/ location, the buildings and public spaces all excellent, the food was outstanding. the staff were brilliant, and tried very hard to please.
Now power shower, only a mix it your self bath tap shower, not thermostatic, no air con in the room, or even a fan, the room was lovely but very very hot,
The tranquil location
The rooms need abit of TLC. Service was slow but worth the wait
Location was pretty
Attitude of staff was surly
Staff excellent, friendly, polite and efficient. Lovely gardens and lakes, ducks and a beautiful peacock. Peace and quiet a great break.
Perhaps a gentle reminder from the staff, or a polite notice, for visitors to use facilities to put their cigarette butts. A great pity to see them, when the gardens and patios were kept so beautiful.
Fantastic setting, very good quality food and the general relaxed feel about the place.
Menu quite small and they didn't seem enthusiastic to offer the bar menu (though when we got it it was also very good).
We stayed in a Junior Suite, which was spacious and beautifully furnished, with patio doors leading onto a balcony. I was suffering from a stomach bug and the weather exceptionally hot and humid - it was a wonderful place to rest and recuperate with attentive staff supplying iced water.
Having to leave!
The room No9. the bathroom poor lighting, the window blind did not work, with the loss of privacy. because the weather was very hot at the nightime. We had to draw the curtains which made the room so hot and stuffy.
Very pleasant and relaxing hotel, surprisingly good for a three star rated hotel. The grounds are well kept and delightful.
We had absolutely no problem with everything staff where lovely
We stayed there for our wedding night my friends who also stayed on from our wedding had multiple problems with their rooms from broken blinds to lumpy beds put a bit of a dampers on our special day
We liked the overall hotel the staff where lovely
The first room no 37 we where offered Had a terrible bed really poor quality. it also had a huge crack in the washbasin it was small airless and shabby The upgrade we paid extra for was ok, no different than a holiday inn room. we spent a sleepless night as it was positioned over a generator, which ran all night making the floor vibrate with the noise, it was terrible ! then at 6.00 am it was turned off ! I wouldn't recommend this hotel as value for money. It is a shame as it is a beautiful place. which needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to standards that warrant the prices they are charging.
Everything was ok
Dirty mirrors and breakfast
Lovely location. Friendly, helpful staff. Very relaxing. Food good.
Although the food was good the restaurant menu was very similar to other hotel dining rooms. No face cloths or robes in room. Toiletries not replenished daily.
The hotel's service noticeable dipped when they had to attend to a large wedding party. For instance at breakfast when many of the wedding party had stayed over, the service and quality of breakfast was poor.So don't stay there if they are too busy.
The location was lovely
The tiles had just been pulled up in the balcony with no replacement. We were walking on black something with glue. No lights working on balcony. We shared breakfast on Sunday with a wedding party. Breakfast okay. Disappointed.
The location was lovely and we felt like we got away from everyday life.
Because there was a wedding going on which we didn't know about we were unable to go to the outdoor pool as this was where the wedding guests were. I was not allowed something to eat because I was informed the chef was cooking for the wedding party. Finally when we got up at 8.30 the water wasn't hot so we were unable to have hot showers
Receptionist v obliging Room light and comfortable Restaurant good
Communal table at breakfast a bit come-as-you-are Coffee in thermos unappealing
staff were very friendly room size and balcony comfortable bed and sofa good choice of refreshments in room breakfast and service very good
wrong shape seat on toilet causing it to move when used toilet flush lever very loose centre of tap (hot/cold) missing cobwebs in bathroom cupboard long wait at bar due to lack of staff dinner good but overpriced for 3* hotel and service charge should be choice
The grounds were amazing
