The Powdermills Hotel and its grounds are one mile from the historic town of Battle and the abbey, the site of the battle of Hastings where William the Conqueror and his Norman army defeated and killed the Saxon King Harold. If you wish to explore the area, we are ideally located to discover the most beautiful and ancient parts of Sussex and Kent. Some of the places we can recommend are: Battle Abbey,Mermaid Street (Rye), Bodiam Castle, Bateman's (home of Rudyard Kipling), Sissinghurst, Herstmonceux Castle, Great Dixter and the East Sussex Railway...to name but a few!

Travel information

From: London - Take junction 5 off the M25, following the A21 towards Hastings. At John's Cross follow the A2100 to Battle.
Once in Battle, drive through the High Street, past the Battle Abbey which is on your right, then straight across at the mini roundabout, taking the first turning on the right into Powdermill Lane, just before Battle Train Station. Down the lane 1 mile, the hotel is located on the right hand side after a sharpe bend.
