Premier Inn Birmingham Broad Street (Canal Side)  

Staff were great and location was excellent! Finished off with a lovely breakfast!!!

Excellent position to access ICC. Overlooked canal which gave direct access to a range of restaurants and nightlife.

The room was very compact, however it provided clean, comfortable accomodation at a very reasonable cost.

My mum and i stayed at this Premier inn as we were going to see Bon Jovi at Aston Villa FC, we really liked seeing the banners of Bon Jovi on arrival. The receptionist was very helpful and booked a taxi to the venue. I have to say i would stay with them again and all the people in Birmingham were very pleasant and helpful.

The 2 nights we were at the hotel were very warm and uncomfortable. The Booking.com details say "air conditioned room" but in truth this means only heating - there is no cooling. We were provided a small desk fan. We did not have a comfortable night at all - and the "Good Night Guarantee" that says "we guarantee a good night's sleep or your money back" is a marketing gimmick that means nothing to Premier Inn. No offer, no compensation, no reimbursement was provided despite several complaints that we had 2 awful nights at the hotel. The rooms are very small (we tried 2 different ones) and we do not believe that the pictures on the Booking.com site are from the same Premier Inn. We were on a breakfast-included room rate (that was actually very expensive for the facilities and room type provided) but were only told on check-in that this was a continental breakfast and that a hot breakfast would cost extra. Even Wi-Fi is chargeable - only the first 30 minutes is free. Overall a sadly unprofessional and unfair experience - the advertising phrase is "Everything's Premier but the Price" but in reality we paid prime rates for a totally sub-standard offering. I would seriously consider any options over Premier Inn before choosing it again, anywhere in the world.

We stayed there 5 years ago and decided to stay again as it was such a convenient and friendly venue. We went out for a celebration dinner on Friday evening and I happened to mention that it was our 53rd wedding anniversary. When we returned around 11:15pm, the was an envelope on the bed with a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary from all the staff at Canal Side. We were amazed and absolutely delighted. We've travelled all over the world and wouldn't have expected that kindness even from a 5 star hotel. We've told all our friends and shall look forward to staying with Premier Inn Canal Side whenever we next have to stay in Birmingham. With renewed thanks from two grateful guests.

value for money breakfast

The location on the canal was perfect. It was also a straight shot to the train station. It was really close to the Mailbox for some shopping a cafes. Other hotels are certainly closer to the city centre and Cathedral but the canal was my focus.

It was a hike to get to the other side of the canal.

I like the hotel as It was close to the places we needed to go to theatre / shops.

We would have liked more towels/tea/milk and sugar in the rooms as there wasn't many. EG only 2 large towels plus 1 small. Only had 2 tea bags.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. My room card wouldn't work but the staff resolved the issue without any problems. I would certainly recommend the hotel.

Would try to aim to have a more open and larger reception area as first impressions count. On entering I felt the reception area was rather small and uninviting.

Rooms were comfortable, breakfast was great, distance from city centre & the mailbox. Premier Inn always say to tell them if you are unhappy, we told them & we were compensated, so they were true to their word.

How long it took to get checked in. A hen party of 16 got checked in before 4 of us managed to, then we got given a room that a couple were already staying in with a 'do not disturb' sign on the door. It then took a further 20 minutes to get another room...all in all we had been at the hotel for an hour before we were checked into the two rooms that we had booked. The manager tried to blame booking.com, which was ridiculous! We got one room free of charge, so it ended well for us.

I liked the closeness to the station and the venue i needed to attend for business training. The staff were very pleasant.

The room i was given had a small window that in order to look out off i had to stand on a chair!!!!

The staff are the hotels biggest asset very helpful and friendly. The restaurant bar next door is fabulous and the staff never stop working other than to check the customers are happy. Convenient for city centre no problem parking and the canal an added extra. We will be back!

Customers who were moaning about a lack of sleep due to noise from others. Not our experience and no need to be rude to the reception staff!

All staff were very freindly and helpful. Hotel is perfectly situated for Brindleyplace and all it has to offer. Bed was very comfortable and room was clean although not large. Free parking which is not offered by many hotels that I looked at in this area

Good centeral location by the side of the canal. All staff very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Broad Street with lots og good eating places.

This Inn is ideally suited for our visits to the Symphony Hall. Its location in the canal area made for some interesting walks. The staff were friendly and responsive. The inclusive breakfast was first rate.

As we were two ladies we were pleased that the friendly Receptionist kindly made the bed into two twin beds whilst we were out.

Our shower was only giving us cold water so we were unable to use it (Room 206). This was reported the morning we left but too late to help us. The card keys to the room and lobbies do not always function.
