A short walk from Canterbury city centre and its world-famous Cathedral, this privately-owned hotel is set within a Victorian townhouse, amid 2 acres of well-maintained grounds.
Score from 376 reviews Very good
A very new facility, very clean and modern. Very close to city centre. Excellent computerised check in but still had staff on hand to help if needed.
No parking may be a problem for some and there wasn't a phone in the room. If I didn't have a mobile I wouldn't have been able to call reception for my iron and ironing board.
Really comfortable bed Friendly staff member on check-in Cooked breakfast was nice. Relatively late checkout time (12:00)
Would have liked to had opportunity to purchase extension to checkout time, e.g. by a couple of hours. But this wasn't possible. A business lounge would have been helpful.
Location and breakfast.
We had a poor nights sleep. Every time we moved or turned over in the bed the bed frame made noises which woke up the other person. We mentioned this to the receptionaist but were not offerred a refund.
I didnt like the fact that the hotel is not free wifi 24hrs like other hotel. PLease do something about it. Thanks
Room smelt of garlic
Location Clean Friendly
No hairdryer in room
Free 30 minutes WIFI, or to pay for it and the purchased time can be shared between only two devices, are you out of your mind? This is a XXI. Century, Hallo!!!
Helpful friendly staff
What sounded like drilling in the room above on the first night. Went on until past 11pm strange.
Peace and quiet. Breakfast very good. Staff very helpful
Running out of tea making things. And no room service. Had to go down to reception first thing to get teabags!! Staff should leave more.
The welcome was warm and the staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. Great dining facilities and superb value for money. Well located for all attractions too. Brilliant experience!
We couldn't fault it!
Location was excellent
No parking. Such a shame that this isn't clearly advertised on the third party booking web pages. The Canterbury hotel does have a deal with the local car park but none of this was explained when booking. We still had a fabulous stay.
The room, the dinner and breakfast deal. View from the window.
Everything new and clean and the staff very helpful.
Uncomfortable synthetic pillows.
Friendly, helpful staff. Very comfortable room and excellent brekafast
A very noisy neighbour making loud telephone calls late at night.
Location is good and there are services just by the hotel (cafes, bars, supermarket...). Personnel is friendly and helpful.
Wifi cost 3 pounds x day. It has no parking (they provide a voucher for a nearby council one for 6 pounds x day).
Handy for town centre. Easy access.
Lack of parking. Storage for clothes in room inadequate. Couldn`t hang up long dresses - not enough depth in wardrobe.
Smart & clean. Good breakfast good TV & bed
No electric razor point. No wake up facility - TV or Phone based No easy chair to sit on in room, only an upright one at desk
The feeling of amplitude and cleanliness of the room, the bed was super comfy, easy access on foot from Canterbury's high street situated on the main road and 5 min distance from all shops and coach station.
No toiletries, apart from an all-use soap. They asked me to pay up-front, but not too much fuss, it's their policy. Shower in the tub, felt a bit slippery, so step and stand safely.
Location, and reasonable rate.
No parking facility.
Breakfast - a full range of items well-cooked and presented.
The duvet was too heavy and too hot and the air conditioning too noisy. When leaving reception ordered me a taxi and said that the firm Cab Co had said it is on its way now. It was not: when the taxi arrived some fifteen minutes later I asked the driver why he had taken so long and he said I was only told of this call 3 minutes ago. We missed our train by 2 or 3 minutes. Not the fault of your receptionist but the firm employed is not reliable and should be changed.
The location was great. We walked from the train station. Clean room and the bed was very comfortable and perfect height.
Variety of tea selection in tea tray was very limited. No supply of biscuits like you get in other hotels.
Centrally located, ideal for sightseeing & shopping. Helpful staff & yummy restaurant.
Good location and clean.
No parking, paid WIFI is slow
Amount of pillows for eaxample
The duvet was terribly thick for this time of the year (has been the same on ALL our visits since Dec 013). Causing difficult & sporadic nights sleep & considerable sweating soaking pillow, duvet & sheet. Note: Had intended talking the Max on the Fri morning 26th Sept of this before leaving, but he wasn't then on dity
location, staff friendly, hotel clean-no noise despite being quite full.
