In rural Northamptonshire, the Narrowboat at Weedon overlooks the peaceful Grand Union Canal.
Score from 167 reviews Very good
Everything was great
Squeaky floor boards from the room above ours
Ease of access - pub on site
Pub was popular so some food on menu not available
As my partner suffers mobility problems we were allocated a room on the lower floor as requested. Set in a quiet location.
As we were delayed due to traffic we phoned the Crossroads to let them know. They had already taken payment before our arrival . We never recieved an invoice for our payment during our stay. There was no running hot water to the sink in our room(so we had to use the bath tap for a wash). We only ate here once during our 3 day stay which was on the first night,we were told food was served until 10pm, but when we went to order food at 9:30 they said they would have to see if the chef was still in.Anyway I had fish and chips which was driping in grease and Jude had a very bland lasagne poor and overpriced. On returning home we found that the hotel had taken £100 extra from my card. A mistake which after several phone calls we were later refunded with no apology. Would we stay here again ? Yes , but it wouldn't be our first choice of stay
Basic accommodation at a fair price
Very clean, staff very helpful and friendly
Floorboards were very squeaky tried not to walk on them too much felt sorry if someone was in room below
The food was really good Staff were lovely Bed was comfortable Price was really good Location was good Garage next door was very handy
Very poorly lit from one side of the road - we drove into the garage to phone them and ask for directions - they were right next door but signs not lit up so we didn't see them. Car park really dark and poorly lit - we didn't know that our rooms would be away from the main building and back across the poorly lit car park. The TV screen and sound kept jumping and the wifi wouldn't connect for me - these were only minor issues though, The bath had some marks on which were easily cleaned off (by me) before I used it.
No hot water !!! Over 30 minutes for breakfast to be cooked
Nice quiet relaxed stay. Breakfast and dinner amazing!
Everything, had been cautious about booking because of previous reviews. Don't know about other peoples expectations, especially for the price, couldn't find any fault at all and the staff were lovely, just friendly enough to make you feel welcome. will be booking again
Quiet and peaceful room. Slight noise from motorway when window open, but a long way in the distance. Very convenient, as easy to find at a main junction, but rooms set away from hotel and road. Great value
Ambience/room/all facilities/restaurant all above expectations
1) being awakened at 2.30am by fire alarm and nobody came over to tell the people standing out in the cold that all was safe 2) Not being told that breakfast time changed on our third day there. Waitress said that breakfast had finished. She did relent and get uis food and coffee. There is no indication of the different breakfast times on different days in the room , nor when we booked in
I had a room with access to the outside which as a smoker makes the stay so much more pleasant
Fire alarm went off at 2am. Everybody went outside:no staff to give any info and people just decided to go back in without any visible staff around
Quite and comfortable with pleasent staff

The entire bedroom. Necessities were in place.
Noice from the road.
Great stay and value
No option for a small breakfast so wasted food
Good rooms, good staff, good food and great value. We have already booked another break over Christmas and we are definetly going to enjoy the party.
One of the radiators did not heat up. Room 12 but we have still requested this room.
Spacious room with good facilities, bathroom was clean we had quiet room at back, good food on site was very good
Only one bath towel between 2 and very, very thin, carpet was dusty at edges
Loved the enormous bed and location. Very quiet area even though on main road.
Thought the bathroom could do with a revamp. Reception area could be improved.
Nothing. I was very very disappointed - a long time ago it was an excellent family establishment that I regularly frequented. I thought it would be a trip down memory lane, it was awful and I won't be back.
Plastic cold croissant, a half dead fruit salad with only apple left in it. Cheap plastic buns from a low cost supermarket (I suspect), hot breakfast passable, but over greasy hash browns and uneatable vegetarian sausages. Staff who kept asking if it was good, even before I had started eating. Dreadful.
The food was very good and you don't get many places serving after 9pm. Was expecting traffic noise but this was minimal. Overall a reasonably priced hotel and would stay again
Choice of tea making in the bedrooms, flavoured teas are ok in the right place but a nice cup of tea or coffee are what is required after a long journey.
The staff were very helpful at all times. On checking in, the receptionist kindly tried to find me a ground floor room which was not possible. I ought to have requested this in advance but was pleased by the help I was given. Breakfast was excellent and the level of customer service from the one wAitress was outstanding. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, I was only able to have breakfast on one occasion. I would recommend this hotel as top rate value for money although a lift would have been nice!
A lift as I had a lot of bags to take upstairs.
Probably more tea and coffee could be provided only a small point
