Our small, friendly, family-run guest house is situated on the Eastern Esplanade, and offers outstanding sea views in the heart of Cliftonville, close to the centre of Margate.

Glenwood Hotel is a 15-minute walk from Margate’s sandy beach and less than a mile from the harbour. Parking is available on the street outside the hotel.

Score from 436 reviews Very good
Looking out to sea over Broadstairs’ Viking Bay, the Royal Albion has a magnificent location, on the seafront, yet also close to the heart of the town.
Score from 112 reviews Fabulous
Hotel was Clean & tidy
Restaurant Tables need cleaing quicker & better
No phone in the room to call reception if you got a question or need any help. For instance there were no toiletries in the room and you could do nothing about it, glad we had our usual pouch tucked in the bag which helped. The kettle for heating water in the room had ample salt deposits in it from prolonged use but again you could not call and get another one. The only breakfast option available nearby is the hotel itself which is kind of a let down if you intend to stay longer. We booked on short notice and this hotel was the only one available with a room available.
receptionists were helpful and friendly as was the night porter.
Thought Menu could have been a bit better.
Basically a very good all round experience.
One minor gripe - the veggie options on the evening meal were not that imaginative - spinach cannelloni and quiche. A veggie curry would have made the stay even better.
Leonie on reception was friendly informative and very efficient. Great representative.
The poor presentation of the entrance. The room was too warm.
Nearness to the beach and train station, children playing area.
Noise around the hotel
The staff were very welcoming and very very nice
Room was a little hot during the night even though a fan was supplied
being above the dustbins and the air-conditioning condensers, both of which hummed
Right on the seafront, quieter part though. Enjoyed our stay. Staff friendly, room as clean as any other premier inn. Eat as much as you like buffet style breakfast was the perfect start to our day. Restaurant is attached to the hotel, and.a great place for a few drinks and/or lunch/dinner. Margate does need to have money put into it to make it worth going back. Wasn't much going on, and not a lot there for kids or adults to do.
Car park is having work carried out, so was a bit noisy on our first morning (Saturday), would have preferred to not have had children above me.as was kept awake by there constant running about, but was the school holidays, so had to expect it I suppose.
The location was good and reception helpful.
The interior could do with improving especially the carpet on the entrance to where you eat. Additionally more staff on an evening behind the bar would reduce the wait to be served. In the rooms more sugar and milk for those of us who don't like strong coffee and have a sweet tooth.
Overall I found the location and the politeness of the staff to be of good quality. The enviroment was respectfully serene. The food also was a delight to indulge in. The hotel was well placed in regards to the train station and beach.
My partner and I have serious doubts that we received a family sized accomodation. For two adults and two children, there was a lack of space and comfort in that room. I'm not implying that they don't have those rooms, just that we didn't receive it maybe. The heat was intolerable, especially due to the single standing fan that was obviously not cleaned since purchase. Ghastly and lastly we should've walked with our own ( toilet brush). It was the only accessory missing from the room.
Builders turned up very early and woke us up on Saturday morning. Then disappeared before 11am.
Easy access to beach,mini- golf, arcades, shops, places to eat and countryside. Even cinema and Hornby centre not too far if it rains.
Room a bit hot staying in the Quad room.
Close to train station & very good room for all the family .
The rooms were clean
The hotel advertise a good night sleep but even though building work was being carried outside those rooms were still being used so you got to hear the drilling and digging, if you wanted a sleep in work started before 8am
Good location and staff very friendly.
Room was very hot no A/C
The location was excellent right next to the station. Within easy walking distance of the Turner Contemporary Gallery.
I have had the same facilities in London for less money.
bed was comfy bathroom very clean staff friendly
Service at breawers fare One person was inapt behind the bar
the room was incredibly hot so bad that it was difficult to sleep. the noise from the room above was very loud - thudding around
Location is great
