The friendliness of the reception staff the moment we walked through the door, it really did put a smile on our faces made to feel so welcome. The Table Table eatery next door is also good value for money and again the staff were helpful and friendly

Our room was very clean and the staff were friendly, the fact that there was a pub next door came in handy for a late night drink. Our toilet did not flush properly and even though it was reported the problem remained the next day. The heating control in our room was poor as after you could set the control to reflect the fact that it was cold you could not then turn it off for sleeping, in fact it could not be reset until 8am the next morning. The pillows were cheap and uncomfortable and there was no grab rail on the wall in the shower, which I felt was dangerous.

Location, helpful receptionist At time of visit it was being refurbished so it smelt of mastic and was noisy first thing in the morning. However, I guess I was just unlucky and when the work is finished I guess it'll be wonderful!!

Staff pleasant - but please be aware of major building work taking place - see below.... Major building work going on at the hotel. The area is a building site and believe there are serious health and safety issues. Electricity was switched off at 9.30am. Went to have breakfast - the building was in darkness - no back-up electricity generator - could barely see the breakfast buffet bar or the food on offer because so dark. Would have been easy for a person to trip over - as no lighting. Back in the main hotel, the small reception area had 3 ladders in it with workmen drilling in the ceiling. Could not even see the reception area - as dust sheets over it. On the first floor of the hotel - there is easy access to the new extended part of the building - surely this should be closed off. Wires hanging from the ceiling (possibliy live electricity). A Child could easily have access and be injured in this area. Serious health and safety issues which should be addressed urgently.

The room was good value for money. Restaurant was comfortable. The room decor was "tired." The breakfast was fairly good, but the fresh fruit dishes both mornings always seemed to be very low-with mainly apple segments. In one and very little red fruits in the other. The "q" for the toaster was always too long. This can be enoying if you are in a hurry.

Good location and value for money The Friday night was fine but unfortunately on the Saturday night there were party revellers in a nearby room in the hotel and a restful night was not possible. I suppose it can happen anywhere but could really have done without it
