Lord Hill is a family-owned hotel housed in a 19th-century Grade II listed building, just a 15-minute walk from the medieval town of Shrewsbury. It offers a restaurant, bar and free car parking.
Score from 562 reviews Very good
The staff just said car parkig £8.00 for 24 hrs, they did not tell me there was a municipal car park round the corner which was secured from 7pm to 7am and you only paid for the hours before 6pm and after 7am it only cost me £4.00 the staff should have recommended this as an option
Close to the railway station and the town centre the location was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The car park was difficult to find due to the one way system.
The accommodation was first class. The staff were attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were large and incredibly comfortable. There were plentiful supplies of hot water. I will definitely stay again, or even move in. Make sure you try the lattes!!
Helpful staff, meal deal was very good value, good breakfast!
Paying for parking. If we have to there should be a weekend rate rather than having to remember to top up after 24 hours.
Most staff fantastic - friendly and helpful. Room great - secure, quiet, modern - just what I like.
Housekeeping forgot my room one day and I did not get the wake-up call I arranged on my last day so I could catch a flight to Canada!!! Lack of phone facility in room was a drawback - overseas guests are not going to have a mobile for use in UK and there was no payphone in lobby. How can people call them during their stay?
Bar & Restaurant were still looking quite new after being open 18 months.
No biscuits with the Tea & Coffee.
Staff super helpful
Restaurant was very expensive
We liked everything about the hotel, the staff were really helpful, everyone was lovely
There was nothing to dislike
Everything was excellent
Parking charge of £8.00 for 24 hours
Cleanliness, comfort, location, convenience
Car parking charge!! £8 per day added another £24 to our stay...and we also got a parking fine, even when we had a valid parking ticket. In process of appealing for something we shouldn't have had to. Suggest you speak to the co you use to run the car park...very expensive and poor service
The room was excellent. Great location. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough to help me.
I objected to having to pay for the wifi, when it has been free in every other hotel I stayed at in my three weeks in England. £3.00 for 24 hours is highway robbery. the touted 30 minutes free wifi is pathetic when other hotels give 24 hours free wifi. Premier Inns are generally very good, but this gives me second thoughts about staying in them on principle.
It was in a good location. The rooms were basic but clean. I found the staff very helpful.
The breakfast was really good. Plenty to choose from.
Room way to hot. Had to get up both nights in the middle of the night to put the air con on as we could not open the window and get any cool fresh air.
Location, cleanliness, quiet hotel, pleasant staff
Prices differed between our group of friends although we all booked around the same time
We chose this hotel, whilst visiting a family member in Shrewsbury, due to it's central location. The room was spacious as was the bathroom. Although the room overlooked a main road there was no traffic noise, due to excellent insulation. The room facilities were basic but very clean. We travelled with my sister and brother-in-law and unfortunately they did not enjoy a good night's sleep the first night as the bed was creaky and there was noise coming through the ceiling from the room above. However they asked for a room change the following morning and not only was this sorted out immediately, they were also refunded for their first night. This was excellent service from friendly staff.
We dined at the hotel the first night of our stay and unfortunately several members of our group were served food that was cold. The following morning the cooked breakfast was made to order and again some of the food was served cold e.g. cold fried eggs, not very nice. However the following morning's cooked breakfast was set out buffet style and the food we selected was hot.
a hen party in which fine but took over bfast and the table next to us. very loud rude and not a plesant enjoyable bfast.
Parking was convienent to hotel entrance. As a wheelchair user this was an excellent plus. Room excellent for wheelchair and shower facilities excellent
Nothing to dislike.
Staff, comfort of rooms and cleanliness
Food quality not great but frankly acceptable given the price paid
No phone reception in room or hotel
Comfortable bed. Very pleasant helpful staff.
Very great difficulty finding entrance to hotel parking. Council carpark limited to 10 hours so not possible. Had to drive all round town twice!! Lack of any signage to give even a clue as to where the entrance was and nowhere outside the hotel to pull in and ask. No advice about this in hotel details other than "limited parking". Extremely irritating. Wrong room allocated. Welcome pack not complete in 201. 2nd room no toilet paper. Only 2 tea bags provided for 2 people on an overnight stay. But more available when we asked. Began to wish we hadn't gone!
Location and the bed.
The toilet leaked and was not fixed although reported on Saturday morning. The guest in the room above us was inconsiderate
Good breakfasts. Convenient parking.
Massive mix up with our bookings meant our keys were cancelled 3 times over 4 days. We were a party of 15 in Shrewsbury for a wedding and such a large party seemed to confuse the reception staff.
Close to shops .
Drunks in foya.
Loved the staff: Frankie, Stephen, Jim, John - almost all the staff were superb! I also loved the full breakfast!
Location for town and theatre visit was perfect. All very clean and new, good restaurant, lovely breakfast. Pleasant staff.
Finding the car park and the arrangements for payment were difficult for strangers to take in. The check in staff were not very clear in their instructions, we didn't realise there was a back door from the car park so we had to take our cases right round the bus station to the side of the hotel. Better signs and a little map free in reception would be of great help.
