Premier Inn Southend-On-Sea (Thorpe Bay)  

Room was very comfortable and very well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Light switches by bed were difficult to locate in an emergency. It was very dark due to thermal lined curtains but could not find light switch when daughter became ill. Also, the attached restauarant (Halfway House) had NO cooked breakfast in the morning although we had paid for it, all we were offered was the continental option (due to cook being late!!!). Really disappointed with that aspect.

nothing i didnt like apart from the massive pot holes as you drive in to hotel so watch out for them :)

My wife lost her wedding ring, though she doesn't think it was at the hotel. Reported to Reception just in case and the receptionist made a note of our address etc just in case it turns up

Large bedroom with good facilities.

Breakfast was an absolute disaster. Too few staff and lack of supervision although they tried hard.to cope.

Friendly staff, room had everything you needed eg hairdryer, towels, extra pillows, soap, with a choice to get any additional things like a sewing kit etc at reception.

Price was alittle expensive, saturday night was alittle bit noisy but not over noisy just with clubbers going out and coming back, but my two children didnt get woken by them so I didnt mind.

Nice large room

Cold room on arrival, had to put electric heating on, not centrally heated. This goes off when you leave the room. Breakfast is in pub next door. Hash browns were nearly black, no coffee at 9.05am, bacon dry, rather untidy breakfast accomodation. Breakfast times 7-9am too early unless you are working. No mirror in front of dressing table. Not good value for money.

Spacious twin room. Location is good on seafront, but about 1.5 mile from town centre. Parking is very good - very few hotels in Southend (even more expensive ones) have any private parking at all.

We did not have breakfast which was served in the Halfway House public house so cannot comment on food quality, but bar staff in there were a bit surly and unfriendly. Also on the Sunday night, last orders were called promptly at 10.20pm and had literally until 10.30pm to drink up, before the staff were collecting glasses. The hotel reception staff were under the impression and advising late arrivers that the pub served until 11.00pm. Although the location on the sea front is good, it was a brisk 20 minute walk to any other pubs or Southend's attractions and further still to town centre, so be prepared to do a fair bit of walking.
