I've stayed in a few Premier Inns and this one had the key features of a large comfortable bed, quiet room, clean facilities and modern tv. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food, staff and ambience at The Eating Room was excellent.
The bathroom in particular was quite dated and I was disappointed that there was no hair dryer. It was irritating that there was no telephone in the room to contact reception, I had to call the external number that I found on my phone using the internet and call at a charged rate rather than on a local number. The hotel was not near enough to walk into town.
Lovely meal and very good value for money. Restaurant decorative style was very nice. Beautiful setting with good outside area including play area for children.Staff very friendly & provided a good service.
Tea at breakfast time, would have preferred an individually prepared pot rather than a flask, would not add much to staff's workload. Tomato not properly grilled, also could be easily achieved, could be grilled then kept on a hotplate waiting.
The space in the bed was good for two friends to share. Very good shower.
Would like a little more tea, milk and sugar in room. Would like to be able to open doors in room (after all we are adults) ;)
Food was good and we were well looked after by the staff.
Could hear noise from wedding disco and noise of fan in bathroom of room next door.
Overall I was happy with my stay..very helpful friendly staff...as a solo female traveller my request was to be close to reception and I was...
The quality of the cooked breakfast was not as good as it appeared on the photographic evidence. ..next time I would stick with the continental. ...
Comfy bed and pillows. Room size was good. Lots of hot water. Plenty of coat hangers.
Room not clean enough and water did not go down plug hole while showering. Toilet flush terrible. No plugs by the side of bed. Need more than 2 tea bags and 2 milks.
Staff were great The neighbouring restaurant was first class - and all set into a lovely park
All of it came together to provide an exellent travel experience food was exellent all of staff friendly all round good stay we are disabled & the disabled room had all needs met
No notice of large hill leading up to hotel as a disabled custermer would of been helpful
Location in Park Quiet Efficient and friendly Good nights sleep
A bit characterless, but this is one of the better Premier Inn,s
Food in the pub was lovely
Room was dated, bath was stained with black grime and tiling was dirty. Found a dirty nit comb on too of the wardrobe where the "clean" pillows were, toilet was smelly, all I could smell through the night was stale urine, very tired in need of make over would not stay again
Location in lovely park.Quiet. Smart room. Pleasant Dining room.
Rushed every morning to finish our breakfast!
Holmfield Arms was very nice
Noise from other rooms There seemed to be little in the way of soundproofing and could not change rooms as hotel was full.
The meals were good value and the room was spacious.
The only disappointment was the hard mattress. Uncomfortable sleep.
Very friendly staff will always stay in this hotel when on business; the bedrooms are very comfortable and clean. The food evening meal and breakfast are well cocked and presented well.
It was all good
Easy to reach room very clean and polite staff
No remote control in room when asked for one was told that they would bring to room waited a hour to find they forgot about me also there was a lot of noise due to a wedding which this hotel hosts
we returned a cooked breakfast as it was either burnt (scrambled eggs) or soaked in grease ... the girl came back with a new breakfast with the same issues and told us "it was the way it was" .. sorry but this is unacceptable as i have used premier inn on many occasions in various locations and i have never had any complaints .. bit of a shame as everything else was good ..
The location was good. Tucked away but on the edge of town.
the staff, the food, the service all excellent. Wonderful location and great surroundings
The hotel looks tired and needs decorating, the carpets are all on the move! and the plumbing is dangerous............hot water burns and the cold water tap was reluctant to work, difficult to get temperature right in the shower.
Helpful staff (stored our bikes for us), good location for centre of Wakefield and Barbara Hepworth museum.
The location, staff and restaurant were all first class. Location is set in a small parkland. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant - we had very nice meals, plenty of choice. Better than some bistro's.
No lifts. Could be a problem for those that are not able to manage stairs very well.
Lovely historic main building and grounds. Room was fine and food was good.
Restaurant staff were ok, but many of them stuck to the script too much - I don't want to be asked repeatedly if my meal is fine, I'd tell you if not the first time.
I love the hotel is in the park so wonderful and green and at one with nature. A fantastic restaurant situated literally next door. I often stop in this venue, not the cheapest in the area but for me perfect. I was born in Wakefield so this particular park was a favorite haunt. Just love it. Room 21 is great because it has french doors that open slightly. Rooms are spacious Ns usually clean. Soap and shower gel/towels all provided :)
I do not like that when a wedding or celebration out in the marque is on the music is on till 12midnight and can be heard in some of the rooms. You could always enquire in advance? This is not central if you do not have a car, a 15 min walk from a train station, cabs are reasonable though, around £3.50 to the hotel. Buses are close by but do not run that frequently. I get cans everywhere because there is two if us and so basically the same price as the bus. I think you can buy a Metro ticket that gives you cheaper bus travel, maybe from a newsagents?
Lenny was right !! It was the best night's sleep I have had in years due to ill health. I have noted what make the pillows were so I can buy some for home I can't tell you in words how comfortable the pillows made me and a difference it has made to my life, I thank you for that reason alone. The place was so relaxed just what we needed and the staff were polite and friendly, the food was great can't fault our stay in any way would definitely visit again just to get away and for no other reason. The grounds it's set in is amazing so chilled feels like you are in a different world even though just a few hours up the road. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so welcoming Mr & Mrs Brennan
the room was spacious, clean and quiet. the shower worked well and the internet was good (£3 for the day)
the restaurant (in an annexed pub which is clearly in partnership with the hotel) was one of the worst I've ever eaten in. I ate the 'mini grill' for dinner and had a full breakfast. although it was relatively cheap, almost every item was awful. the meat in particular (liver, bacon, sausage, lamb, pork) was shocking ... dry as a bone, tasteless, sometimes actually bitter or even tasting like it had gone off.
Everything was excellent from booking in and being given a very nice welcome to leaving the next day
