This place is in a nice quiet area with beautiful surroundings. The hotel's own gardens are lovely and the staff are great too. The meals were very good and the all round atmosphere was very pleasant. I went for a short getaway and couldn't have asked for a better setting. The only thing that would have made it top class for a retreat would be if they had spa facilities, but as a hotel it was lovely.
It did get a little cold in the room, but I expect they just don't turn on the heating in August which would normally be fine but it has been a bit colder this year. I was also slightly disappointed that I had to take my own tray down a few hours after ordering room service, but then I guess they couldn't have known when I was done. All in all though, it really was a lovely stay.
Happy, friendly staff. A beautiful building with picturesque grounds, in a lovely, quiet location. Great food, especially the breakfast, included in the room price!
Location good in lovely grounds rooms just big enough and clean
The breakfast let it down they give you a menu but what you see is what you get one piece of bacon one sausage but after we ate we notice people were ordering extra pieces.
We had a reasonable size bedroom with a very good TV set and nice views of the attractive grounds.
The twin beds were rather on the hard side. The breakfasts were distinctly average with no choice of fresh fruit on the Sunday morning of our stay. We also felt the shower over the bath was an accident waiting to happen. There was no handrail attached to the bath and no ant-slip mat was provided. Overall, the Hotel gave to us the impression of being in need of substantial reinvigoration.
Friendly staff, clean rooms
Terrible food, don't go for breakfast! Threadbare carpets
Coffee at breakfast and insulation poor in rooms.
First impression: lovely friendly welcome. Beautiful room overlooking fabulous grounds. Gourmet menu offered but didn't want a full meal.... maybe next time if a good deal is offered. This hotel could be really classy with some good marketing. So much potential being wasted.
Just got comfortable when the disco started. A call from reception asked if I had been informed of the disco: not told about that. I was offered an alternative room which turned out to be no better as noisy party-goers congregated on the patio outside my room. The buffet breakfast was disappointing - hot water for making my own tea was in a flask - no choice of fruit - only one slice of toast offered - fried eggs were overdone and rubbery.
Room and service
Noise but was warned as disco that night
Breakfast was served quick and staff were efficient.
Noise from downstairs bar area and outside. A function was held there apparently…drunken guests making lots of noise till early morning un controlled until eventually shouting the area was closed ! I will never stay again. Unfriendly check in and out. Poor value.
The location close to the village Beautiful well kept gardens Comfortable and homely atmosphere Excellent choice for breakfast Staff were courteous
Dinner is a bit pricey
atmosphere, staff, breakfast, friendliness
bed and noise from upstairs room
LOCATION LOVELY GARDENS
STAFF KNOWLEDGE ROOMS NOT READY AT 2PM
Nice location, full English breakfast is quite good.
Poor wi-fi- very annoying!!!!!
Rooms are clean and tidy. Flatscreens on the walls.ok.
Before booking this hotel I`ve read some negative feedback but decided to ignore it as some people will never be satisfied with any service. I went there for one night after my wedding. We coudn`t sleep because drunken party people turned up at 10.pm and stayed in the garden which was just outside of our room till 2.30 am. I had to go 3 times downstairs to ask the guy who was serving behind the bar to calm them down .It didn`t help!!! In the morning we looked like zombies because of lack of sleep. I talked to the manager and he gave us 25 % off. However my wife lost the key to the room so he decided to charge us 25 quid. He explained that those keys are very expensive coz there is a piece of metal attached with a room number , so yeah I`m waiting for the invoice as they promised to send one. English breakfast was horrible. The cheapest beans from the tin , bacon and white bread. Food for lorry drivers rather then hotel guests. Rude hotel staff as well. They called me later on after 2 days saying that they have to charge me 25 quid for the lost key.I mentioned really low quality stay , drunken ,loud guests etc but the lady who very calmly responded that its not hotel`s fault and I`m going to be charged anyway. Stay away from there , don`t be tempted by pictures and location!!!!
For a country hotel in England I found the staff and food excellent.I have traveled to many places in the world and not oftin can I say I would come back again.Hope to see you again when I come over from where I live in Spain
Bed was a little hard
Shower was good
Floodlight at front of hotel poured light into bedroom - no blackout blinds or curtains. Bed uncomfortable - very hard. They use plastic mattress covers which is an insult to customers.
Cleanliness and nice garden
very comfortable room good size and spotlessly clean, nice staff and good service at breakfast
t.v. reception was very poor and was not rectified even after complaining. Second flight of stairs were a bit too steep and narrow for myself and husband so though we would return here we would ask for a lower level
Delicious meal Friendly & helpful staff
Good room with decent bathroom and above average breakfast.
This is one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in. Breakfasts were wonderful and we would not hesitate to stay again. Well done to all the staff.
Boiling water in a flask instead of a pot of green tea (didn't have green tea available)!
We liked the location (peaceful) The maitre'd was excellent. The room was clean and tidy and well kept.
The bed was way to hard and the slope could be sorted out to give a level sleeping surface (not a good nights sleep) The staff were lacking in customer service, insomuch as on the second morning of our stay we had to get most of our breakfast sorted out ourselves even after giving them plenty of warning that we wanted our breakfast outside on the terrace. Not asked about our stay or anything, all a bit blunt.(need lessons in customer handling) The evening meal was in need of a good looking at, over sauced and heavy. As to pricing, well for the money I thought a little better quality and more attention to detail.
Comfortable bed, I had the pie which was very nice. Good links to M25
Dated room with very old TV. Manager not very warm and welcoming
Welcome at reception, it was very hot day, and our room was very hot, receptionist provided a life saving electric fan, everywhere was very clean and our room and bathroom were pristine, breakfast was very good
Only one thing we overlooked the car park but as we were not I. Our room much during the day it was a small thing
Comfortable spacious room with pleasant outlook. Efficient shower. Freshly cooked hot breakfast.
It is impossible to make a good cup of tea from water in a flask and a teabag, and this was what was provided at breakfast time.
