We stayed during the summer and the setting was lovely. We then booked to stay on 29th October so that I could meet up with my family but found the bar area very lacking in atmosphere and quite uncomfortable ( too hot, bad lighting and expensive drinks) as it was completely dominated by a wedding and birthday party even though we were a table of 9. We may stay again as a couple during the summer but definitely not when arranging to meet family again. As previously said, the setting is what draws us and we see it only as a place to visit on our own as a couple.

I love the setting on the river and the pleasant ambience and staff. The room was very nice and quiet as requested and the food was excellent. The buffet breakfast was cold when we got to it and there was only lump sugar when I got cereal so had to wait for some to be brought.

Helpful staff. Charming buildings well off the main road with lovely river views. Convenient for Donington Circuit (10-15 mins) and the airport. The room was comfortable and well equipped. Not too keen being called 'darling' on several occasions by one member of staff. We got the feeling that the restaurant was trying too hard to be something it really wasn't capable of being at the moment. Although all the staff were helpful some of them could do with better training, the food doesn't have that 'wow' factor and is a little too pretentious/'Chefy for its own good', and a bit over-priced. It really needs to address these things if it aspires to "fine dining". That is not to say we didn't enjoy eating there. Didn't try the Brasserie but would do so if there is a 'next time'.

The food in the bistro was terrible. I didn't think that there could be bad chips but these were inedible.

The thoughtfulness, and kindness shown even prior to us arriving. We was extremely greatful and shocked that we'd had our room upgraded because we was celebrating our albeit short but happy honeymoon. I had a vision of how our night should be, and the Priest House definitely fulfilled that. Thank you also for the gift of champagne and strawberries! Our dinner was outstanding also. We would not hesitate to recommend you to friends, we actually have not stopped talking about you since our return. A thousand thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Beardsley.

1 the setting 2 the staff were very helpful and tried their best 3 Chris tried to move us into the main hotel and this could have happened but only for our first night and we didn't want to move for the second night (we booked our first night on booking.com and the second on a cheaper rate as part of a wedding party) 1 the cottages - the room was small, dark, had no bath and was poorly lit 2 the very high price of alcohol 3 shortage of food at wedding barbecue 4 breakfast buffet on first day was slow to be replenished

the location was ideal for what we wanted, and the staff were friendly and helpful. the grounds of the hotel were lovely and very picturesque. we found the room very small, and expensive for what we got. the room was not as clean as we would have liked and there were cobwebs on the curtain rails that had obviously been there a long time.

It was private and relaxing. Perfect for a romantic weekend. The setting of the river close to the hotel made for a great scene. The charges of drinks in the bar was riduclously expensive. One glass of wine and half a bitter was nearly £14. I believe this to be verging on exploitation. It should not be a case of people who use the hotel being able to afford such prices but it just does not make sense. The bar was empty and devoid of atmosphere and I can see why!!

Our room , which was an upgrade but especially our meal in the Bistro. We thought it outstanding. The exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. As the visit was a siurprise for my husbands 79th birthday I appreciated the discretion of staff in using my neighbour 's phone and email as a go-between. Thank you

I liked the setting the best. The Hotel was situated in a very beautiful part of Leicestershire. A small point butI felt that the room was very warm and would have prefered not to have the heating on through the night.
