The dining room was very pleasant and the staff friendly
The staff had not been well trained. We were left with dirty glasses on the table. The pre-ordered wine took 20 mins to arrive after we were seated. We had to ask for main course plates to be taken away after about 20 mins/half an hour.
Professional friendly staff on reception and in bar. Excellent location and grounds. Very clean and comfortable room.
At £150 per night the facilities and room was not good value. You could get a room for much less. I guess the extra money is for the location. Maybe you should offer discounts at weekends. Wedding party in, we felt a little like we were intruding.
The hotel is in a nice setting by the river with friendly staff. The room was clean and quite a good size. The breakfast was excellent and a good portion unlike the evening meal,I would certainly visit again.
I didn't like the size of the evening meal portions,it was obvious that the hotel prides itself on how good the food looked rather than the amount on my plate.
Staff and service excellent. Cottage room cosy and comfy. Lovely setting.
Food over priced for what it was in the evening. Although very nice. Cooked breakfast was very disappointing. All hot held and therefore tasted re heated and was dry. Beans Luke warm.
The beautiful setting. Comfortable beds. Best sheets and towels.good bathroom . Good food.
The strong smell in our room. Don't know what it was. Did not like £10 for a glass of rose'. £19 glasses of port.(2)
Noise from other guests. Staff could have dealt with it better
the price of two glasses of wine
The location was beautiful, the room was very nice and staff friendly.
Wedding party in the bar and we could not sit down inside or out as they had practically taken over the place, so we bought a drink and went back to our room which was a shame as we were looking forward to sitting in the bar after our meal in the restaurant.
Everything.. And I am still waiting for the duty manager Chris to call me back after 4 days... Very professional !!
that I came later and I had no problem
Hospitality was great
The location, the air conditioning, the relaxed atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff, the peace and quiet.
at dinner on the 2nd night I ordered a steak and a side order of chips. The waitress did not advise me that the steak order included chips and that the side order was not required. This cost me to waste money as I did not need nor did I eat the extra plate of chips.
The staff and the restaurant.
Our room in the nearby cottages was not up to the standard of a four star hotel. Judging by the price of the ordinary bottle of Chianti we had with dinner, the wine list must include an extraordinary mark-up.
Restaurant. Excellent service. Brilliant breakfasts. Idyllic setting.
Giving me the wrong bill on departure. Also, we had a cottage room on the first floor. My partner is partially disabled and if I had known I would have requested a ground floor room as I had booked well ahead. Bit of a problem getting luggage to the room
-room too small -bathroom even smaller -noise from upstairs impossible to sleep -food portions very small -not what you expect for the star rating and cost
Location excellent. Visiting for two nights to attend Donington Park Historical Festival.
Restaurant Food.......Minimalistic. Excellently presented, but very expensive. Brasserie Food.........Improved value for money, but both my husband and I chose the Rib Eye, one cooked Medium to Well and the other cooked Medium to Rare, and found them to be disappointing. As we were also considering this establishment to introduce to friends for a weekend stay, but hesitant with the restaurants/food. Breakfast good, but lacking attention to the "breakfast table" top up, as many guests appeared to be asking the staff for more juices, fruit etc and butter and condiments for the individual tables.
above the average
staff were very friendly and helpful
the room upon arrival was chilly and took a while to warm up
Excellent situation and friendly and professional staff.
A bit disappointed with the fine resaurant.
Very good service and food, the welcome, quiet
The heating system in the rooms
The exceptional care shown by the staff when my wife was taken ill. We were so impressed that we wrote to the hotel group's head office to express our gratitude.
River and bridge Breakfast
No leisure facilities Not very child friendly
Appallingly slow breakfast service - sat for ten minutes in restaurant with no staff in sight. A queue of diners waiting for crockery for continental buffet. Cutlery not replaced. Drinks in bar very expensive.
