The location is right on the main road from East Cowes, all the traffic comes past from the dock and there is constant noise, which goes on very late and starts very early. And there is a bus stop right outside, which is handy, but noisy. Noise from the pub comes through the walls (we were on the first floor, then the second) and the Friday night was karaoke night...we heard every word! The main problem was the locals coming out for cigarette breaks all night, and this carried on until gone midnight. On the second night there was a police arrest going on outside the window...all in all, not a lot of sleep was had. If you want some peace and quiet, ask for a room at the back. Having said that, the staff were very accommodating when we asked to move to a quieter room.
The rooms have been recently refurbished and are to a high standard. No criticisms there at all. After checking in at the bar, which is very dated but obviously popular with the locals, we did wonder what we would walk in to. But the rooms are great, well stocked, clean and comfortable. Our room had a well fitted bathroom but a small shower, however our second room (we moved!) had a fantastic bathroom.
