bathroom was nice and room in the main clean & comfortable
member ofstaff on booking in not very welcoming full English breakfast was cold apart from the scrambled egg stains on one towel and room could of been hoovered
Meal was very good in the dining room
A little bit noisy
Location as visiting family in the area
No heating it was freezing. Reported this in the morning but I got the feeling that this wasn't s surprise and this is a ongoing problem. A good idea would be to place extra bedding / fan heater in the room.
Clean, Warm fresh decor. Single room excellent in my eyes, I've been in a few and this was one of the best. Away from the pub part as I did here a thing. I wanted to stay longer but the single was booked, More for a double to sleep myself so I had to leave it. Newport was the nearest at the time.
Easy access to Osbourne House
No ensuite bathroom Having to open and close 3 fires doors to use the bathroom every time in the middle of the night while trying not to wake every body up. Restaurant was untidy and food not very satisfactory. Would never use this accommodation again
Friendly helpful staff great food
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff Room decor and facilities Proximity to ferry Easy to find
Having to leave before breakfast!
Friendly staff very helpful excellent beer and food
Nothing about it we didn't like
It was very easy to find it, close to the ferry, only few minutes drive. The rooms were fantastic, lovely vintage decoration, newly refurbished. We felt like home, very relaxing atmosphere, they kept the heating on at all times. The whole building was clean and we enjoyed our stay. Even though there is a busy pub downstairs we didn't hear any noise. The breakfast was included and it was delicious. Staff were lovely, with a relaxed attitude and very helpful.
Very stylish single room, with lovely on suite bathroom. Good breakfast too.
food, good value cleanliness of room and bathroom was to a high standard all staff were friendly, accommodating and polite location was great, ample parking Furniture in the room looked new, or well looked after.
plug in the sink in the bathroom did not work efficiently, would not hold the water in the sink. But staff made aware. would of been good to have a shelf in the shower cubicle to place the shower gel.
All good apart from one thing.
Noise from traffic very loud needs some form of double glassing in place
Fantastic Rooms, Good Food , Friendly Staff
Noise level from traffic was loud in rooms facing road. Some form of double glassing needed.
Recently refurbished rooms were very comfortable for our weekend stay. Very clean en-suite facilities. Staff were helpful. Ample car parking too. Opposite Osbourne House entrance.
Decor of bedroom and bathroom. Comfort of bed.
Breakfast was not of a very high standard. Agree with others that the Sunday breakfast service was not good at all. Although room was very nice it could have done with a chair, dressing table and mirror.
For the price, the accommodation, food and staff were excellent. Accommodation was clean, fresh and well appointed. Pub itself was clean and presentable, with friendly and helpful staff, serving excellent pub meals. Good off road parking and excellent transport links. We fully intend to become regular guests and would recommend the Prince of Wales!
There wasn't anything I didn't like, but a point to note for those looking for hotel or traditional B&B accomodation: The Prince of Wales is a fully functioning pub with a healthy local client base, providing accommodation above and serving pub meals. It's more like an inn than an hotel. Be sure to check the pub's website for events during your intended stay if you want quiet in the early evening. Otherwise, I'm sure your stay will be excellent, as ours was.
Can be very noisy with heavy traffic and single glazing. Breakfast due to start at 7.00 am. I checked out at 8.00 am and didn't get breakfast.
Excellent location, opposite Osborne House and with regular bus stops just outside. Ample parking. Rooms decorated to a high standard. Good shower, though stall is very cramped. Breakfast was lovely and served by a friendly hostess. Usual coffee, tea, toiletries provided.
Mattress was a little too soft, both ended up with some backache. Being a pub, you can't account for the regular customers who were at times noisy on the street outside. Karaoke was hosted Friday evening which ran till midnight... It was loud and stopped us settling. Evening meal purchased from the bar was poor. Didn't feel particularly welcomed on arrival.
We loved our time here,we were booked in for 8 nights, the Staff were welcoming and friendly, the locals were just as friendly as the staff. Our waitress Jackie was so helpful and friendly to us the whole time we were there. We would recommend this B&B to everyone!!
We had breakfast every morning and on the Sunday there was a different waitress and we had absolutely no service from her.we waited nearly an hour for our breakfast and this Sunday waitress could not be bothered with us. Such a shame because the waitress the rest of the time we were there ( Jackie) was outstanding
The room was newly renovated and very tastefully decorated
Our bedroom was excellent, very tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean. We knew before arrival that the bar/restaurant is soon to be updated. However considering the impending work, the areas were clean and tidy enough, just jaded. The breakfast each morning was of generous proportions and tasted very good. We would like to return someday!!
Our room was above the bar, with one of the music speakers just below our beds. We had already read reviews about traffic noise and took ear plugs. The windows are old and have no noise resistance. Obviously being a listed building (assumed) the windows maybe can't be changed, so secondary double glazing would help. Other than that the Prince of Wales has a wonderful period character.
This pub/hotel is what it is - reasonably priced, clean and the staff are accommodating. There are ongoing improvements which will, when finished, make it more comfortable. Currently the gents loo is in a portacabin outside. The site is opposite the entrance to Osborne House. The breakfast was excellent. The one time we ate later in the day the food was only warm and not overly appetising - but, it was late afternoon. Probably better when the proper cook was in later.
Noise from cistern in adjacent room if you're a light sleeper. There isn't much to see or do in East Cowes itself - take the chain ferry. The worst thing is turning right out of the car park onto the road to Newport. It is dangerous in my opinion. Best to turn left and come back which will add a few minutes to your journey. The real ale is okay but not top notch.
Beautifully refurbished room. Super bathroom with great power shower. Clever storage solutions.
The mattress was a little too soft for my taste.
Great rooms The bar and the bedrooms where a little missed matched
Breakfast was ok but not enough baked beans and the mushrooms where a little old looking!
