Great location and beautiful hotel and fab staff
Rooms a little tired
comfortable bed easily controlled radiator thick curtains to obscure the light
could only partially open the room window. understand the H & S reason for this but should be able to open more than was able. Staff very busy at breakfast so coffee was delayed, consider getting a coffee machine.
The central location and the fact it has parking faclitites.
The three times I stayed over a four week period the internet never worked, the staff said it was due to the amount of people using it, but as I pointed out to the receptionist, considering the majority of people were pensioners I can't see what they were doing 3.00 am in the morning, when I was trying to log in to get work done that I had had to postpone.
Loved are whole stay ! Thanks :)
Staff were excellent: friendly and helpful. Location is brilliant.
Breakfast was poor. I only had toast and coffee, the toast was leathery and the coffee was weak and tasteless. Could not lock my window (on ground floor).
room okay, down stairs lovely entrance as you went upstairs the decor dropped drastickly,
breakfast plates were cold and eggs were cold otherwise it was really good
We sneaked a look at the fabulous ballroom. To be preserved at all costs!
I think you struggle to keep this building clean and maintained properly. Main lift out of action for the whole of our stay and we had to cram into staff lift.
Art Deco hotel Very friendly and welcoming staff Free car park on site (despite it saying there was a small charge) Good value food and drinks available
Bathroom needed looking at - hole in ceiling with mould Shower needed re-fixing to wall Lack of pillows and towels No wifi
Easy access room for wheelchair lovely friendly staff !!
Room had no window and felt souless
The hotel retains the charm of a hotel from a past era. Beautiful decor in public areas.
Having stayed at this hotel before I was very disappointed with the evening meals on offer. breakfast choice was fine. My advice just book bed and breakfast. Brittannia hotels' food has become more like a holiday camps food.
Being on Lord street The hotel is nicely situated in the areas i spend most of my time when in Southport, having stayed a number of times and being upgraded more than once i see no reason to stay anywhere else.
Sometimes being unable to get to the hotel until late in afternoon its a struggle to park, this is the one thing that takes the edge of an otherwise pleasant experience
The food The lack of parking spaces The lack of atmosphere
Excellent Staff Good Location
Felt the room reasonable for the price- though disappointed. Old and drab but appeared clean in room . We did purchase a coffee and tea cake served in the entrance area, by a sweet waitress on our final morning. We only dealt with two staff- one to book in and one out. They both pleasant
No window to look out of -hated that. Not sure if window would open-looked dodgy when tried. Came for a break and relax, but wasn't comfortable with the room . Very sparing with tea bags and milk. bar packed, reception packed, caters for party bookings. Queue for evening meal and area packed so gave up. Shabby long corrider and creaking boards to the room. Was concerned. We left midday the day before due to book out.
second time i have stayed here this year very good value for money room very clean warm and comftorble
even though bathroom window was frosted glass i think a blind or curtain would be a good idea
The staff member who relocated us from our initial allocated room. The breakfast was acceptable
The entire appearance of the building outside including the grounds is desperately in need of millions throwing at it. The inside rooms that we saw including, reception the lounge were life a state run old peoples home. The lift was out of order during the 2 days of our stay including the computer facilities. The entire hotel was extremely disappointing to say the least. It has been a beautiful building and could be brought back to life again with sufficient funds and good management. It is so to see it in this condition.
Good location...nice rooms...overall nice hotel and had a good stay
Just needs a touch up here and there...bit of money spent to brighten the place up, new furniture etc (looking a bit tired). Also spend on some more staff so tables are cleaned all the time and crockery moved. Also the staff need some organisation..maybe invest in a restaurant manager lol
Great for families with pets wanting to escape for a cheap weekend, I have stayed here on many occasions without any problems, its certainly in need of a re-vamp but overall the rooms are yes very basic, but clean and comfortable.
Shame to see this... a room service tray with plates of left over food on it had been left in a corridor from Sat lunch time until Sunday when we were leaving at 11am!!
The corridors smelled in a scary way.
The only thing going for this hotel was its location.
The room was old and tired with furniture more befitting to a 1940's film set. The price of £129 for 1 night was exorbitant given the poor state of repair. Worn out carpets and dated furniture - this hotel is in desperate need of a good refurbishment. Breakfast was a bun-fight with the other guests from a small help yourself buffet area and the kitchen struggled to keep up with the demand for food. A request for a reduction in the price was met unsympathetically by the manager and an email to the Britannia Hotels group has been ignored. This is one place that we won't be returning to!!!
The staff and location are very good. enjoyed our stay. Room was very nice. Breakfast was excellent, great choice.
Tea and coffee were a little slow at coming at breakfast but I feel the staff numbers were overwhelmed by the number of guests. Heating failed to come on on the second night despite the drop in temperature outside, room was a little chilly. Bathroom needed a new sink (big crack across it)
Location, The Gents toilet in the down stairs lobby was better than the room
cracked tiles & the blind blowing like a sail in the bathroom we thought the window was open it was not. Paint and wallpaper starting to peel off the room was very date and needed new windows
