Very good,
Score from 208 reviews
“ We got a really good deal, but the best bit, was we were upgraded to a suite on arrival. The room was lovely. 4 poster bed, corner bath, very large. Staff were friendly and attentive. Excellent all round. Looking for our next stay again, Shrewsbury is a lovely quaint town, the hotel is central for everything. Would recommend highly ”

The more casual Chambers Brasserie features an open fire and oak panelling, and serves a traditional British menu. The elegant rooms have en suite bathrooms and tea and coffee facilities. Rooms also feature a TV, hairdryer and free luxury toiletries. Wi-Fi is accessible throughout, and room service is also available. Many rooms have period features, including exposed beams and sloping ceilings. Central location, though very quiet as it is tucked away from main roads down picturesque narrow side streets. Those picturesque narrow side streets! It can be difficult to get your car out - especially if, as I found, there's a beer lorry occupying the full width of the street unloading kegs outside a pub and clearly going to be some time! (The hotel is very nice though!)

The hotel was central for shopping etc in Shrewsbury. Friendly staff. Very obliging porter. Good breakfast, plenty of choice. Enjoyable stay It was a windy night and the 'old' windows rattled throughout the night. Half of the room was in partial darkness as two of the lamps did not work. I did report this fault the following morning. Checking in time - 3pm- is rather late in the day. Most hotels have an earlier checking in time. Also checking out time, on the following day, is rather early - 11am. At other hotels it is usually 12 midday. Very small lift, which could be frustrating if the hotel was full.

The valet parking and being upgraded to a suite when we said it was our anniversary. The place needs a little bit pf decorating and freshening up and the morning receptionists were not particularly friendly.

Location in centre of Shrewsbury. Food was very good. Staff friendly. Have stayed in most hotels in Shrewsbury and in future would select Prince Rupert as hotel of choice. My wife and I were in room 205. Very small, TV badly positioned but cramped space would prevent relocating it.

I liked the last two times I stopped but the latest time let me down. It wasnt like the last few times I stopped the room was not as spectacular and it cost more money for the poor one. I don't understand.
