The staff and service is outstanding. The food is exceptional and the style of the hotel is stunning. It is relaxing and stylish in an understated way. The food is one of the best I have experienced anywhere. I have stayed there 4 times now and look forward each time to meet the staff who remember me and make me feel really at home.

The restaurant was very unusual & food very healthy. The foraging ensured freshness. Knowledgeable wine & food & attentive staff a great asset.

The food at dinner time was a little bit disappointing.(not very sophisticated, not very well cooked). we were expecting finest food in this time of hotel.

Very friendly helpful Staff,easy check in. My complementary upgraded room was quiet,spacious and very nicely furnished in keeping with the Style of the Hotel. Beautiful and quiet location. Despite being on a working trip I managed to relax.

Although I was staying on my own I was made to feel very welcome. At diner I was offered the best table, near the window overlooking the bay. The food was very good. I especially liked the wild foraged salad and the sea buckthorn curd pudding. Chefs were bringing food to table and talking with passion and knowledge about their food. Very friendly staff. They gave the impression that they liked their job, their clients and each other. They have been recruited, trained and managed with skill and care.

Nothing not to like. Maybe the salted caramels , which I had with a very nice glass of calvados, could have had a bit more salt.

A beautiful place. Really old buildings which add a touch of nostalgia to your stay. Even the huge sash windows rattled in the wind which take you back to the good old days in memory. Absolutely stunning views staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful and the food although expensive well worth it to try something new and unique

The approach road and lack of signage . More a council issue ????

The room. The decor. The reception staff were excellent.

Very hard to find especially in the dark. Unfortunately the food was tasteless and poor. This was a surprise.

Excellent, quiet hotel in lovely grounds. Staff very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home, they were not aloof. The room we had wasn't exacrtly what I wanted but I had only choice of two as my husband could not climb many stairs. In the event, the special, panelled room was lovely and comfortable. Bathroom was very special.

All was fine - the only thing I could say was that when we had a special dinner one night in the Oyster restaurant (gourmet) - we were disappointed that we paid quite a bit more but had very small helpings. More money - less food. And the spcial meal wasn't really so wonderful. The bistro type restaurant where we usually ate was very good, albeit a fairly limited menu - breakfast everything you would want and very good service everywhere.

Very friendly staff. Lovely location, surrounded by mature trees and yet only a short walk through the woods to the beach. Super dining room and a brasserie in the adjoining room. You can have either the brasseie menu or Fine Dining menu in the dining room. Large bedrooms, include iron and board. Excellent lounge and public rooms.

The 6 hole golf course is for beginners. As we went off-season it would be nice to have an indoor swimming pool

I loved the peace and tranquility. I stayed in one of the cottages with my 2 little dogs, they loved the wonderful walks, especially the beach! I shall certainly visit again!

Beaautiful attic room-very innovative and well set out. Decor was to a very high standard in our room. Plenty of space to lounge both inside and outside hotel.

Disliked having to pay a lot of money for a game of tennis or golf etc which are classed as extras. Also our tariff did not include breakfast which was another £24.00 per couple which for a bowl of fruit and precooked grill seemed a bit ott.

Location.

Needs refurbishment. Not good value for money.

callum on front desk was very helpfull he sorted me and my 14 year old son a great twin room ,he is an asset to this hotel as orignal room was a double, and he got this changed so i didnt have to share a double bed with my teenage son; callum had a great sense of humour and a welcome smile he sorted golf bats and balls for our game . and me and my son had a great stay thank you,will be going back soon;well done callum great hotel /best wishes raymond slater

The provision of packed lunches for the beach would be a good idea.

Beautiful, well kept grounds. Peaceful setting. Good food. relaxing atmosphere and luxurious interior.

The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service at all times. The hotel is situated in beautiful surroundings - we were only there for 24 hours but felt completely relaxed throughout our stay. We had a lovely room - very light and airy.

The situation was excellent, including the beach access. The bedroom had wonderfull view and bed was comfortable Parking was very convenient Staff were polite

Bedroom on top floor No lift Barhroom only had shower over bath and no shower curtain; wet floor! Bedroom chairs were not comfortable to sit in Floor coverings on stairs were very worn and stained Staff at table were not well trained Food was only average and not well presented

We both enjoyed our stay.

The only thing that grated with both of us was the compulsory addition of a 12.5% service charge on our evening meal "for our convenience" according to the menu. I resent this and have walked out of restaurants that have imposed these voluntary gratuities in the past.

The short walk through the Hotels wood to the private sandy beach along with the very helpful reception staff.

difficult to find

I loved the location and the surroundings of this hotel. It was so relaxing to stroll along the beach within the hotel grounds and to have a glass of wine in the pretty gardens and terrace. We ate in the hotel and the food was excellent.

I would have preferrred to have had a shower rather than just a bath but that was the only negative point.
