Iys a very old village with more grade 2 listed buildings than anywhere else in England. The Castle and grounds are always good to visit. We had a good choice of walks in the surrounding countryside. There are a few good places to eat including a very good Aisian restaurant. It's very easy to get around the village.

Dunster is on the edge of Exmoor National Park, which imho is the most underrated national park in the UK. The views are magnificent, with small cozy towns, beautiful nature, good roads for walking, cycling and mountain biking. Dunster itself is a small cozy village with a proper Castle, although through shortness of time we didn't visit it.

The small town has a lot to offer - lovely walks around the castle, good restaurants to choose from, interesting shops and a superb art gallery with a labrynth of beautiful works of art. A must has to be the West Somerset railway which you can catch the steam train from Dunster station - Dunster Beach is close by where can walk to Blue Anchor along the stunning coastal path. Hathaway Restaurant is quirky but great food. Yarn Market Hotel offers a good menu in homely surroundings.

Dunster is located a little inland from the Somerset coast.

Dunster is located a little inland from the Somerset coast. It has a very pleasant atmosphere derived from its historic past. Its centre piece is the Castle which dates back many centuries and this draws in many visitors. The castle is now in the hands of the National Trust. The High Street offers many outlets for quality refreshments and gift shops. There are also a number of hotels offering accommodation.

Delicious breakfast ....very good assortment of pastries , cerals, fruits. The hot choices were very good and cooked to perfection. We loved the staff. They were all wonderful esp Jules, Freya, Lucy, Charlie. Dinner was superb. The fish n chips were an A+++ and we are from New England. The hotel is so steeped in unique history and each nook and crannies reflects this beauty. Our room ( #1)was fantastic.I The Secret Garden was indeed a lovely secret haven for afternoon tea.

Fabulous location in the heart of Dunster. Olivia our host couldn’t have been more welcoming and caring . A great enclosed pretty garden which both we and our 2 small dogs enjoyed . Property was spotlessly clean . Comfortable bed and good quality bedding. A very thoughtful fruit bowl , milk, coffee and tea bags to get you started . Complimentary tea and cake were much appreciated downstairs in the Castle Coffee House . Home made cakes every day by our host Olivia

The staff were very friendly and accomadating. The room was warm and had everything we needed. The bathroom had a shower and a bath which was an added bonus.Breakfast was delicious and kept us going most of the day.The view into Dunster was gorgous. The windows in the room don't open which was abit of a pain and the glasses by the water were abit dirty.Otherwise a lovely place to stay and I would highly recommend to anyone visting Dunster.

Quaint place with eclectic wall coverings. Very unique items everywhere you look. Room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was the best we've had on our trip, not to mention presentation was like a 5 star restaurant. They currently do dinner only 2 nights and wish our stay included one of them. If you're visiting Dunster Castle, you can walk instead of paying £5.50 to park in official lot.

Fabulous room with seating area, overlooking the garden. The bath! Essential after a 50km run! Lovely toiletries. Really comfy bed. Fridge with complimentary water. Fan which was appreciated as so hot. Food was fabulous, as were the restaurant staff- the same 2 ladies seemed to be there all weekend, as was the lovely lady on reception. Staff all so friendly. Rear access to the castle and to my race.

Fourth time staying here, each time in a different room. Delighted with all of them. Love all the thoughtful little extras, such as bath bubbles and sun cream for my face. Fresh milk in the fridge outside our door, along with spare supplies of drinks and snacks. Lovely location for exploring the village, with handy on-street parking right outside the door from 6pm to 9am.

We had a lovely stay between Christmas and New Year. The hotel is cosy, welcoming and exceedingly dog friendly. As it was quiet we were upgraded to the honeymoon suite which made our stay even better. Would definitely consider staying again and would highly recommend to all.
