What a fabulous building, very interesting history and bang in the middle of the town so very convenient for shops, pubs, coast path but at same time not too noisy with traffic. Some decor needs a bit of update.

We particularly liked the breakfast - so nice to have everything freshly cooked and such a full menu. We sampled everything, including the kippers, porridge and boiled eggs with soldiers. The evening meals were just as good although Swanage has a fine selection of restaurants within easy walking distance.

Cleanliness of rooms, friendliness of staff, excellent breakfast. This is not a complaint - just an observation. It was very hot in the hotel and our room. This was not a problem as I just turned the radiators off. The conservatory was equally hot.

The location of the hotel is ideal and it is decorated to an extremely high standard - Real "class" Because it was winter a number of the facilities were not open and the bar did not open until 6.00pm

I Found reception very friendly and efficient both in check in and out. The Breakfast was fine, room clean and tidy and good view all staff also cheerful and approachable. I do like the building and interior there are some lovely rooms on the ground floor with spendid ceilings. Its situation is great for walks and other sights, tv had a good selection of channels. I did not eat in the restaurant or use the bar so I am afraid cannot comment on them, I amconsidering a winter break and it is on my list!

“Fantastic location - very clean and welcoming. Loved the shower - best I've seen in hotels like these. Wonderful also to see TV come equipped with subtitles! However the main TV in lounge didn't and I had to ask someone to put it on. ” Jemima, Bristol |
