Extremely clean and comfortable. The room was a good size as well. The only thing that reduced the mark on staff was the lady taking breakfast orders - blimey what an absolute misery, she was even worse the second morning than the first. Such a shame, because all the other staff were really helpful and friendly.

Easy to find and central for town or visiting the sights around it. A bit disappointed this time as we have stayed there before and it has been cleaner and better maintained. I would never say it was a superior room!!

The hotel was in an ideal place for us to visit family. I can only comment on the room we had for one night room 11, it was small, curtains were closed at 3 in the afternoon, when pulled back there was only a view of brick walls, a bedside shelf has come off the wall, and not put back up, the real down side was that the heating could not be turned off in the room, the thermostat was broken, it was too warm to sleep properly, when we reported this, the reply was sorry about that, not good enough in my opinion, would not stay again.

Very reasonable for a nice hotel. Wish I had used the pool. Breakfast slightly expensive. Didn't like the tv (sport) on in the bar area.

Good value for money if the disadvantages are not too much of a price to "pay". Close to a noisy/busy road. Bed was worn so creaked at every movement preventing a sound sleep.

Good value - on their summer deal. An excellent room and easy walking distance to the city centre and a good Waitrose almost opposite. Breakfast fine (although not as good as other Mercure hotels). Staff helpful.

Generally for a three star hotel it was ok entrance foyer was very nice but the corridors etc could do with a revamp. No lift. I can see the difficulties in installing a lift but in this day and age it was a shock to find a hotel without one - even a small one.

The very friendly receptionist. The pool looks amazing but we didn't have enough time to use this facility. It was close to town, the rooms had clearly been refurbished to a high standard. Breakfast could have been far better, dont go there if there is a wedding on as you may be disturbed at night

The hotel was absolutely fabulous - the room and bathroom was excellent, we stay in a lot of hotels over the year and we have never had such a comfortable bed. The cleaniness of the hotel was second to none and the staff we extremely friendly and helpful. We did not manage to stay for breakfast but we are sure that would not of disappointed us. Many thanks

Four poster suite, small yet attractive. The comfort of the bed, spoiled as is so often the case in all hotels, by sorry excuses for pillows. The door code entry sytem would not work after its first use. £13.50 extortionate price for an average breakfast.

Excellent staff - nothing was too much trouble for any of them; always pleasant & helpful. Food excellent at all times including Room Service. Room very comfortable. Reception area & adjoining seating area very bland - some greenery (plants/fresh flowers) would enhance the area immensely. No tissues in the bedroom/bathroom.

Convenience - very close to who I was visiting. Price - was competitive. Outside my room was a fire door, from where the corridor went down the stairs to the main reception. As a result it was very busy and very noisy for large parts of the night, as the fire door kept opening and slamming shut for most of the night. It was only on the second morning that I worked out how to open the window (my fault!) so it was very hot in the room.

The staff were extremely helpful, breakfast was plentiful, with a wide variety of choice. Health spa looked excellent I just did not get chance to take advantage this time. Bedrooms very clean, tidy with comfortable beds. Very quiet no noise late at night.

Family room was excellent, very clean and comfortable reception staff were very helpfull, resturant served excellent food. You can't fault the price, excellent value for money. The only thing that let them down very slightly was the wait for dinner, the waiters , waitresses were very nice but the wait between courses and waiting for drinks was like pulling teeth. However that did not spoil the overall experience and the food was very good.

The security door to the corridor was heavy and banged each time someone used it. One didn't need an alarm clock in the morning because of it and early nights were out of the question too.Such a shame as our bedroom was next to this door.
