BEING PUT IN A ROOM THAT HAD A DAMP SMELL. Clearly not check properly. Was moved when I raised my concern.
the facilities are brilliant and the 24 hour bar is also good
i had room number 208 and the room was very small. there were 2 radiators in the room and they were constantly on when i first entered the room a blast of heat hit me and it was the same all night. felt like i was in a sauna. the windows were also locked shut on the big window so no option to let any air in. very uncomfy sleep
Friendly and helpful at reception. Good food Good service at the bar. Steph and Dani are very helpful and friendly.
The room tends to be a bit cold.
Relaxed atmosphere. Local people very sociable.
Resturant/ bar staff could be a little more cheerful and prep tables for breakfast. No cutlery, had to use off other tables that had not been used.
1.Breakfast basic(in bar area) 2.CARPARK! Front car park spaces cannot be seen properly at night-no signing that there is a rear carpark. This has cost us an £89.50 fee to a shark parking company, despite an appeal and the assurances of the receptionist. So what should have been a good value short break-wasn't! The hotel cannot pretend that they have no responsibility for their own property when they advertise free car parking for customers!
Easy access via public transport
The hotel is tatty, flakes of paint come off door frames, overpainted holes in the walls in the corridors, fabric on arm chair badly worn, no proper chair, so working at the table was almost impossible. WIFI is not free, leisure centre closes at 20:00 on a Saturday evening, no soap/shampoo in room on arrival, no towels on the second day. Utterly overpriced. Never again.
The whole hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, I personally would not stay there again.
The floor in room is wet and smell is horrible!!!!
Friendly Very close to the city centre Clean Helpful staff Excellent taxi service Quite close to the rail station (New Street)
Read some bad reviews about this hotel. However I could not agree less. Went at a busy time of year. The staff were incredibly helpful and nice to me and my friend who were new to the area. The hotel was in a good location for board street, was clean and the rooms were large and good for the rates that you pay. Good value overall. Did not use spa.
Needs updating carpets and decor could do with a good clean and a lick of paint.
This hotel needs a re decoration staff poor rooms very poor ,hotel site untrue, would not recommend to anyone ,no wi-fi unless you pay but says all over free wi- fi .dining room a joke ,told to sit at a coffee table to eat breakfast ,no meals in the evening even when we were told last meal would be served at 9-45 pm
The location was good.
The hotel needed modernising. The corridors were knocked about and dirty . The room was clean but needed modernising. It took about 30 minutes to check in but a large group arrived just before me.
Location is good not far from nightlife on broad st
Old fashioned feels worn and dated also a bit chilli in room smelled of tobacco smoke but was cheap so ??
Decoration is poor
Location was perfect, room was adicuate for what we needed
booked for 3 nights only stayed for one , young lads made a lot of noise all night running up and down the hall ways and into each others rooms , didn't get any sleep so checked out the following day , all in all wasn't good value for money as I paid nearly £200 for 1 night when it should have bin 3 and wasn't offered any kind of refund
The staff was really nice, friendly and polite. They was all very helpful and was will to give advice on taxis / town stuff to do with the room. Lovely people thanks
Didn't like the fact that I wasn't allowed a glass of ice to my room. If i wanted ice then i would be charged £1. Iv never heard such nonsense.
Comfy bed and clean sheets
Shabby decor to corridors etc Breakfast very basic
Dated needs a lot of work doing
Location, staff were friendly
Old hotel in need of make over, mould in rooms. Most Lights around the room not working and lock broen on door.
Fire alarm at 4am Trying to over charge for drinks different price every time Hotel needs a revamp Hair dryer kept cutting out Different sized curtains Bath water plug hole clogged so water up to ankles Just run down
Convenient for city centre on bus routes
Room was dirty and very worn. Toilet took a long time to refill after flush. Curtains didn't cover all of window
Nice clean rooms (though there was no plug cover in either of the two rooms I stayed in)
Noise of the traffic
