Hotel Celebrity (Formerly known as Quality Hotel Bournemouth)47 Gervis Rd, East Cliff, BH1 3DD Bournemouth (Show map) Good, Score from 403 reviews“The room was large with a comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and attentive.”
Christine,
Aldershot
In a quiet part of East Cliff, this clean, friendly hotel is just a short walk from central Bournemouth and its beaches. It has spacious rooms, a restaurant, a vibrant bar and free parking. Hotel Celebrity is just a 10-minute walking distance from The Pavilion Theater and BIC. The Avenue shopping center is a 15-minute walk away. The affordable rooms each have Freeview cable TV, telephone and tea/coffee facilities. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Public areas of the hotel have free Wi-Fi. A tasty breakfast is served to guests in the dining room every morning, and the stylish bar there has a range of drinks with plenty of seating and a pool table. A shuttle to Bournemouth Airport leaves from the end of the road. Bournemouth Train Station is a 10-minute walk or a few minutes by car. Hotel Rooms: 54

I was very disappointed after reading the reviews. I'd love to know how to get a quilt that is the exact same size as the mattress so when you turn you get a cold back. Every floorboard creaked so we were feeling we were disturbing whoever was below us. The room was freezing as we entered it, all windows open, the tiny radiator struggled to throw any heat past the nearest bed. I also guess from the majority of very young guests that this is a 'Stag & Hen' hotel. Car park was full and not adequate for the hotel size, also parking on the road outside charged from 9-5pm Mon-Sun, this would have been nice to know. Didn't even take the included breakfast as the sound of person in next room coughing / retching put us off. Overall nothing to like

I took my husband to bournemouth for a weekend break on his 60th birthday. On arriving at the hotel we had a very friendly welcome from the reception staff. We were very pleased with quality of the hotel food (quality of the sausages at breakfast could be better) and the comfort of our room was also very good( the bath in our room was a little dangerous with the sofened water, had to request a slip mat for the bath because we were affraid of slipping). Our overall stay at this hotel was excellant and very good value for money which in these economic times is very welcome. We would recommend this hotel.

I booked two nights away and just wanted cheap and cheerful. B&b and got it for £30.50 per night for two....what a bargain! Did not expect much judging from the reviews. However, it has been my experience that you can pay a considerable amount of money and still have hotels that are a little shabby around the edges. It seems to be indicative of the uk tourism industry which often lacks attention to detail. Likewise the British public sometimes seem to be verging on the insane. If you pay Skoda prices you are not going to get to drive a Bentley and this applies to most services available in the uk. The Celebrity has a recently refurbished ground floor (restaurants, bars and reception). I was on the first floor in room 123. The corridors leading to the room had scuff marks on the wall, damaged worn carpets etc but the room was fine. Very clean, generally, bedding, bathroom and towels with plenty of hot water. The room was not huge but was more than adequate for our needs. There were several things I really liked about this hotel. Firstly the staff were excellent, not just the front of house staff but the cleaners and everyone else we came into contact were very friendly and polite/helpful. The waitress staff were exceptionally attentive both in the breakfast room and the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was good value and high end both from the point of culinary and presentation. The breakfast was very good. I also liked the little pamphlets detailing the history of the themed rooms and the hotel as well as the story of the ghost (although I wished I had not read that on the first night). The owners also share with us their plans for the future 10 year plan and what they had achieved to date. I would like to see it in a few years time as I am sure there will be a huge difference in the hotel generally, for the moment they have it completely right, good staff, clean facilities and great breakfast..outstanding value.

Freindly and accomadating staff, nothing was too much trouble, the breakfast and evening meals were of a very good standard and there was plenty to select from, also generous portions, much to my delight My only problem was the tv, at first it was difficult to find programmes , but with a little tuition from the manager it all turned out ok

Good location for shops and beach. Just one thing that we did not like - squeaky floor boards. Unfortunately this kept us awake on and off throughout the night but didn't spoil the stay to much.

Overall not bad experience! Firstly I'd would like to say the mobile network reception was absolutely poorly, having said that the hotel provides wifi facility which only works in their lounge, even when we had to make a phone call from our mobile we need to literally go outside the hotel inorder to get reception. We arrived 1.5 hrs before our check in time, receptionist didn't even try hard to findout whether or not the room could be ready, lazy! At night time, the room became really hot, we tried to turn the room cooler on, again thnx to the hotel it did not worked, we have to called reception and they asked many questions as if I'm a child and don't know that I should be turning the plug on first! How ridiculous, definitely this hotel needs upgrading!

Good size triple room for family of four (one additional cot) and family room near bar and restaurant with a few bits for the kids to play with, whilst the adults rested with a drink.

Car park and close to the entertainment area of the town.staff were efficient and very polite. Creaking floors from above and a radiator and pipe system that wouldnt turn off meaning the room was over 80 even with the windows open made it almost impossible to sleep.

My wife and I were attending an event at the BIC and were looking for overnight accomodation. We tried others closer to the BIC and all were booked up. For the price we paid for our stay we did not expect much but were amazed at the quality of this hotel.

The only saving grace was the breakfast as it was included and a buffet it was good. The room I chose and was put in is nothing like any of the pictures show on this web site. I selected a double and was put in a twin family room. This had a damp smell from the room and bathroom. The tv was fussy about working with the external digi box. The single bed was like sleeping on rags it was so lumpy.

I have been staying at this hotel for one night a year for the past 4 years to attend a company function at another nearby more expensive hotel. I stay as a single traveller and just require bed and breakfast. This hotel meets my requirements. Dining/Breakfast room always very clean and staff always friendly Reception very friendly and helpful too. Most of the rooms I have stayed in are small and cramped. Basic tv stations available, not that I want to watch tv for my one night stays. Would not like to spend more than one or two nights in these hotel rooms.

Very nice buffet breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. A rather cramped bedroom and bathroom. Somewhat bizarre having to obtain drinking water from a dispenser in the corridor.

We liked that the hotel was ideally situated for the beach and town centre - all within walking distance. The room was fairly spacious with dial aspect windows which we found appealing - facilities in the room were more than adequate - love the smell of the shower gel and the towels looked new. Breakfast was very well presented and plenty of choice and served in a light, larfe airy room. Liked the T.V. in the breakfast room also, broke the silence among other guests and made us interact with each other which was pleasant. Apart the bed being abit creaky - nothing!!!

The bedroom was modern and well appointed with an excellent shower room which was clearly quite new. the hotel public rooms were well laid out, and whilst there was a quirky feel to the 'celebrity' theme, the rooms were nonetheless pleasant. Breakfast was good and the evening meal similarly good. The value was simply amazing. Location was excellent being close to the beach and local shopping and sufficiently far from town centre to keep it quiet during the evenings.. The exterior of the hotel still needs some updating, however it is clear the hotel is amidst a programme of work to bring it up to scratch.

We were not disappointed, really helpful, friendly staff, excellent food which you should not miss out on and of course equally important, a comfortable, clean room. The location is close to the beach and town. Brilliant for long walks, catching up with the theatre or a bit of shopping. I liked the quirkiness of the hotel, although its not pretty outside, don't be put off. Inside is very interesting and well run. It's obvious the owner is keen to keep guests amused and has taken time and thought by providing not only a potted history of the hotel (spooky) but a variety of leaflets you would not find anywhere else! My husband loves Bournemouth and I find getting a decent hotel can be tricky if its not a chain. It can be hard to give a good review when the weather in December cold and wet, but here it is. Well done and thank you for the lovely stay.
